Not a fan of racing games really. Cool video though.

Yup...
Edit: Oh goddamit.

Since when has a California 'dude' turned into a 'bro'?

i like the concept of the Shift series. if they can get the physics right i may look into it.

What's a Pegi and why would I ever want three of them?

Pretty excited about this one but it's lack of media coverage has me holding out for reviews.

...and drifters wonder why they don't get much respect from the racing community in general. This doesn't do anything to dispel my view that pro drifters are either jerks or failed racers, unfortunately.

I'm a bit of a racing fan on the PC (wheel and pedals guy), but I didn't really like the original shift that much. It wasn't that bad, but I think the whole "rewind" feature in Codemasters games really spoiled me. No more screwing up a long race at the very end and having to restart.

So more looking forwards to Dirt 3 than this.

Hey braaaahh let's go do some drifting and eat some 'zaaa.... waaaaoh, totally rymin'....

@PsEG: Aw, Vaughn is a decent dude.  But yeah, drifting is the figure skating of motorsports.  Except some how more lame.

Edit:  Oh yeah.  Except Foust.  That dude can drive.

If so, it's a sad situation with how so many drivers are marketed to look like jerks. Same reason I thought Pastrana was an utter douchebag, until I heard otherwise from a someone who had a chance to talk with him in real life.

Admittedly, given the choice between watching drifting or figure skating, I'd watch drifting. I don't think I'd enjoy it, though.

harsh but probably true

@PsEG:  Whoa, you might the only person I've heard who thinks Travis seemed like a douche.  He might be one the nicest guys I've ever met in racing.  I thought Ken Block would be a tool until I met him and he turned out to be super humble and cool.

I'm guessing you're not a fan of the energy drink style of marketing.  Me neither.   They do a great job of making everything and everybody X-TREME BRO!

Needs more Monster branding.

I like the camera movement stuff going on when you're drifting.  looks very good.

As long as there is modding support for the PC like in the last one, this game will be solid.

So racers who don't play video games playing video games. Also I know this is an early model, but it's really laggy and the cars don't look great.

You can become a not very good trash talker if you buy SHIFT 2.

Those were never "dudes"

Those guys are the perfect examples of 909er bros.

They probably have a 4x4 tuck with a raised suspension and monster truck wheels, which they use to tow their quads and dirt bikes into the dunes...which is something bros do.

@chilibean_3:   I like to hate travis and ken because they seem to be great at everything they do. But I no longer feel justified in thinking that way.  :/

Dude, don't show the outtake in the commercial. I'll probably skip this simply because I'm still not done playing NFS: Hot Pursuit.

I think we missed the real story here.

SOMEBODY'S DAD WAS CAPTAIN AMERICA.

Why is "Drift Mode" still in Shift? It sucked the first time, because it drove and handled nothing like the driving in the actual races. Do what Forza 3 did. Make an additional scoring mode for drifting, and change nothing on the way the cars drive and handle.

Then again, the original Shift was a complete waste of money, so I won't be taking the chance with Shift 2. Forza 4 is out later this year, I can wait until then.

I kind of agree, but I think that the cars should be set up for drifting. A car that is set up for drifting won't handle like a car set up for racing. But it should all be done within the limits of what the cars could normally be set up to do.

@MordeaniisChaos: I agree, but the car's shouldn't simply set themselves up for drifting. You should take a stock-spec car, and set it up for drifting yourself, just like in Forza.

When it became 'cool' to pop your collar in Southern California.
When did Nor Cal become NoCal :\

Psyched for the game.  I'm really hoping they've gotten the frame rate more solid than the previous game, because the enhancements to the cockpit view are pretty fucking great.

I will say, however, that it's funny how you can catch a split second of someone playing with an out-of-car camera angle at 52 seconds.  lol

After watching this video, I have the strongest urge to kill myself that I have not had in the longest time!  This dude bro shit has just got to stop!

I never really got the raving over the last Need for Speed (Hot Persuit). I won it. I played it. I just didn't get it. Overly simply game of suped up cop cars doing goofy shit to "criminals" as they run away. And everyone lost their shit over the "amazing graphics", which I actually found really lifeless and dull.

This game doesn't really appeal to me any more than that, either. I'll have to settle on Dirt 3.

I never thought I paid that much attention to videos on sites like speedhunters.com, you know. You watch them and your like "Oh that shit is siiick". But that shot of Powers eating pizza, yeah thats recycled footage haha.

Don't let stereotypes get yah. I used to say the same stupid crap about Nascar and all forms of drag racing all the time.
