The player charecter looks like Mayhem from those insurance commercials. Time based mechanics in video games have been done before. Monarch is a dumb name for badguys unless your The Venture Bros. I would much rather have another Alan Wake game. So far, not a fan of what they've shown.

this enemies are not even fighting back, why are games so pussy, yes ofcourse we have that one mainstream hardcore souls game, everything else is just, why does every shooter have to have tag mode, slow mo mode, it's like everything is made so damn easy?

That seemed like the only car he could do it with, which means it most be a trigger trap, like alot of games have these days. Where you can line an enemy up to a certain point and trigger something to kill them.

To be fair, taking cover during firefights is what happens in real life ones too, so dont expect that to change in games anytime soon, theres not much people can actually do these days to change up gunplay in games. Also this isnt all the game is about, there are other parts to it aswell...

I'll still play a good enough 3rd person shooter with neat visual tricks and such, even if it doesn't do anything terribly original. Or well, I would, if it wouldn't be an exclusive. Perhaps on PC some day...

Yeah, I just got to Alan Wake in my backlog early this summer. This game's graphics are miles above Alan Wake, if you think they look remotely on the same level you probably have serious eye problems.

And yeah the gameplay looks pretty boring, just because I can freeze time and it looks really cool doesn't change the fact that I'm basically doing the same shit 100 other games have done to death. The coolest part of the demo was when he was checking out the lady screaming at the cop, then he just zooms right by them to fight some dumb lookin time soldiers.

I hope they do more with the time manipulation than just set-pieces and gimmicky cover based shooting.

Pretty good showing IMO. Still not going to sell me an XBOX One but it will certainly be a game I will check out whenever I decide to get one. Lot's of Alan Wake vibes even though this seems to have a little more action.

I think it looks interesting enough, hard to tell from such early video.

Also loved the story in Alan Wake, so if it is as good as that, I am sold. Just hope it is out on PC at some point, as no xbxox one yet, and not too pushed to grab one either.

I think it would be great if someone released a gameplay trailer where they didn't move slowly through the level. Have the gameplay be some idiot running through the level as fast as possible while ignoring everything. You know, like most people who play games these days.

Fuck it, I liked it. Looks fun. Voice acting was mediocre and the game could use more polishing up, but the core of the game was interesting enough for me to want to give it a shot.

Reminds me a bit of Watch Dogs, in that it's got a very interesting game mechanic within what some would call a somewhat by-the-numbers 3rd person cover shooter. It will be very interesting to see how it turns out.

Give me a handful of shooters with time manipulation powers that play exactly like this rather than the typical slow-mo. This is more like Dishonored with the freezing time and changing positions, and I don't get that often.

I don't see anything innovative in this gameplay. It reminds me a lot of things like Singularity and Haze; but not in an evolutionary way. I suspect I may enjoy it, because I liked Alan Wake so much, but that'll be despite the shoot-red-barrel gameplay.

Yes, it's a shooter. They've said so from the very start. Remedy's bread and butter.

Singularity was a huge missed opportunity with its time powers, I already see Quantum Break beating that with not being as scripted with the powers and creativity possible around them. Quantum Break might not be innovative in its combat gameplay (haven't seen enough really), but it looks to be the most well executed in the space of time manipulation shooters. The storytelling will be interesting. Getting to help NPCs in time stutters. There's also the fact of the branching storyline:

@sideburnt: A lot of it are nitpicks, but like, at the end of the day, if this is how they want to represent their game, then a third-person cover shooter with a couple interesting time mechanics is not the most exciting pitch these days.

I really hope there is more to the mechanics than a cover-shooter with supernatural powers to become nearly invincible. Love the time manipulation concept though. Lots of potential for unique story telling, and over-the-top set-piece moments.

What is it with games and near-future PMCs these days? God, these games aren't even out yet and I'm already bored of it.

The game does look great and I really like the time effects. As always I'm sure Remedy will make a weird/interesting story.. Not sure how I feel about the mechanics though. Like others have said, it kind of seems like a knockoff of Uncharted and Max Payne but without all of the cool stuff Uncharted and Max Payne did. I'm withholding judgment until we see the entire game, but if it's just shooting dudes from behind cover and slowing down time... I don't think that is all that interesting for an entire game.

Quantum Break just looks like Max Payne played by Natahn Drake.

I need to see more for sure, but the character seems too generic for me and the gameplay looks dated.

...are shooters dead? They don't seem exiting anymore.

Wasn't really thinking anything about this game, but this has me interested. As long as the time mechanic isn't limited to just what's shown in this video, this seems like it could be really good.

The game play is not as different or as unique as I expected, it is a great deal like other games with bullet-time or "time stop" mechanics. The story might be what about this game that could be interesting. The graphics are okay, not shockingly nice, but not bad.

I think this will be all about 'if" they can pull off a compelling story. Ironically this game in vertical slice Alpha seemed to have stressed how cool things looks with time stopped...but that is where it looks worst now. Without the high-end PC graphics and high end filters the stopped motion faces look plastic. I guess like a lot of this gen, the game 'bullshots" from e3 2013 were a bit too optimistic.

Maybe, cancelling most of the TV show stuff was a good idea...

While the graphical quality isn't maybe as high as I would've liked (especially after seeing PT), all of the little graphical and sound touches are pretty dang cool. Here's to hoping they do more with this mechanic than apply it to different dude-shooting scenarios, eh?

I think it looks great. Not sure how long it would take for the stuff towards the end to lose it's appeal. The gun play before that point didn't look that great. I'm interested, but not yet excited.
