The Elder Scrolls Online Celebrates the Opening of Beta Sign-Ups With a Fancy New Trailer

As someone who went to school for 3D I love to just sit back and admire the work that went into these videos. Watched the videos over at RPS and it looks like it could be a fun game if they get the xp grind balanced out right. I just don't have the patience anymore to grind for days on end for one level gain. I signed up for the beta and will give it a go to see how it feels. If you watch the gameplay video they have up it looks like they are doing some interesting things.

I wish companies would stop making Everquest clones now. I know they started production when the MMO market was ripe for the picking but absolutely nobody gives a shit any more. Look how much TOR failed. Exactly the same thing is going to happen.

I love how MMO's always have these ridiculous trailers and all of this amazing stuff happens but all you're going to be doing is cycling cooldowns and hitting your number key while your character spins and jumps in place.

I wish cg trailers were indicative of that actual quality of a game, because there was some badass shit in that. I would watch a full length movie of that stuff. Not so much into playing an MMO

I've no interest in ever playing an MMORPG but this trailer is pretty damn slick.

Multiplayer isn't what I want from the Elder Scrolls universe.

And while I have been really enjoying the story parts of SW:TOR, the actual MMO bit isn't particularly great to me.

But damn it, I want to believe!

EDIT: Wait a sec, I actually genuinely forgot this was CG while watching it. I wasn't at a very high resolution, but still. Good job on that at least. Perhaps not the best use of resources but I guess you do have to advertise.

This game will probably be generic and bad, but then again that's my opinion on all mmos. Jesus who asked for this.

This game will be a beast! I wish the Giant Bomb staff - and community at large - would actually take some time to look into the game. It's much more similar to the single player games than people think. Just look at the facts, and don't be negative just because it says MMO.

The combat is very similar to what you experience in Skyrim, just with more control over power moves. The levelling system is also similar, with you focusing on either health, magicka or stamina when levelling up. And on top of that, you have the same freedom as in earlier games, for instace you can become a werewolf or a vampire. In a frekaing MMO. This is going to be fantastic.

Hey guys, I bet the game will be okay but everyone who plays it will swear its the best thing to happen to the genre until they stop playing it after a month, because hey that's what happens with every mmo.

I like watching fancy CGI trailers even if I have zero interest in the game.

Sure, I'll sign up for the beta to see what this is. Maybe it's exactly what I want and I just don't know it yet.

I don't really see why people have such low expectations. Of all the post-WoW MMOs out there these guys have at least (afaik) had the decency to hold back and not overpromise. If they're actually trying to just make an Elder Scrolls MMO and not focus on some stupid gimmick there's not really any point to doubt them before they've shown what they've got.

Sure, for all the people that have grown tired of the genre it might not be interesting, but for the people that still like MMOs this might actually be the one that realizes you just gotta make a good game and people will enjoy it.

I feel like the entire point of that trailer was just to go 'MAN, LOOK AT THESE DUDES FIGHTIN'. ISN'T THAT COOL? IT'S PRETTY COOL, RIGHT?' Like a bunch of Bethesda employees spontaneously went nuts and decided to just make the most radical shit that they could without any care for the game they were supposed to be selling.

It was pretty cool though. Still not interested in the game.

How do they not know that, and i'll try not to speak for everyone, but nobody cared or cares for this? What a flop.

I'll play this when it goes free-to-play. I'll level up a character to somewhere around level 15-20 over the course of a weekend where I don't have anything going on. Months later I'll think "I should play more of that." and then never follow through.

Not any Argonians or Khajiit.

It will be F2P at launch. Mark my words. If they had any plans to sell this game full price at retail, this beta will shatter those illusions.

This game represents all the toppings I dislike on a veggie pizza. 3 stars.

I signed up for the beta as im interested in seeing how this turns out, could be decent if they do it right.

This looks dumb, But in the bad way.
