There is one thing I like about ESO and that's their cinematic trailers. Too bad that the game looks really bad and that they're trying to charge 15 bucks a month.

Sounds like someone's capitalizing on that hot Mongolian throat singing market.

Looks cool. I'll probably play it for a while when it goes free to play.

Posted by NPfeifer

God, I got three and a half minutes in and I was bored. Why are these all so similar. I mean, aside from the fact that Blur does them all?

Posted by huser

Pretty awesome trailer. One day we might actually get a game that looks like that....

I'm not sure if I am coming down with something or was the action in this animation really hard to follow?

I didn't know what I was even looking at half of the time and had to look away.

Edited by TehJedicake

Ugh. Please Bethesda, keep this game subscription based for as long as possible >_<

Posted by MichaelBach

I don't think the game looks that bad, I will give it a go in the PS4 for sure, seems like it might be a good "single player" experience also.

Not sure if advertizing this game with the same main mechanic that made Rift unique is a great idea, but that was darn pretty at least.

I there anyone that's actually excited about this game though

Elder Scrolls: The Movie - Do it, do it now.

That looks... expensive.

I want to live in a world where this is a trailer for Baldur's Gate 3.

Edited by msavo

Free to play in 6 months.

Here's 8 minutes of something that in no way resembles the game you're about to buy!

I noticed it too when the evil dudes were fighting the elf lady, too much going on plus the camera on that scene was all over the place

Money. Money falling out of the sky.

Posted by Shortbreadtom

Even CG has shaky cam now. What does the camera moving so wildly you can't focus on anything actually add to the action?

Posted by Alucitary

I saw some gameplay on Twitch a wile back with people breaking NDA on the beta. It looks pretty faithful to Skyrim/ Oblivion. the weak point though will obviously be some pretty boring and repetitive quests. could still be good to run around in and explore for a month.

Posted by Grimpopo

MMO trailers need to be more accurate by having people hopping around on mounts while these battles are taking place.

That is the point: That you can't focus on anything... It cheapens the cost because they don't need to animate anything in the periphery.

Imperial city still looks tiny. I figured they would go ahead and redesign it for this, at least up the scale so there are mote than a few buildings per district. Then again, maybe they have and it just wanted to look familiar in this trailer.

So, anther thing. I played the beta and I still don't know about the actual scale of this game. I was on an island off of Hammerfell and I got the impression everything would be fairly zoned. Didn't play long as it was a busy weekend, but I don't think you can just walk from Morrowwind to Whiterun to Daggerfall. Which is a bummer, because it's like the only reason I would play this. Combat was a standard MMO bummer, too, even if they tried to hide it with first person, you still just wait for cooldown timers, then pop the spell, repeat while circling.

I'll likely play a month, just to see the final product, but I'm not seeing this being much to get jazzed about.

Edited by ChuckDeNomolos

Skimpy costume on the magic lady, the Imperial City being the only thing I can recognize out of the Elder Scrolls, and zombies. fuck videogames

Edited by Dberg

I'm pretty sure if you look up "AAA MMO" in a dictionary, there's a picture of money circling a drain.

Posted by mrsmiley

Does anyone actually get excited about cinematic trailers anymore? Sure they're cool, but they mean absolutely nothing when it comes to the game itself.

Posted by Abendlaender

Oh look, there are elfs and humans and something that looks exactly like a dwarf but is no dwarf. Oh and they also are fighter, mage and rogue how convenient. This looks completly different from every other MMO.

I played Skyrim, Morrowind and Oblivion. WHO are the bad guys again? Why do they only show the human-like races in the trailer instead of Orcs, Khajiit or Argonians which would make the game at least look a bit different? Are they even in the game?

5:33 HORSES CONFIRMED

Posted by VirtualE

Boooo. Don't make me pay 60 bucks to "own" a game that will extract 180 dollars out of me per year if I want to even "play" it.

Great way to taint a good franchise.

Posted by Random45

Well, the one thing they got REALLY right when this trailer is how overpowered magic is in the Elder Scrolls series. I found it pretty ridiculous though that by breaking ONE chain, it caused all of that to happen. You think these bad guys would be a BIT more competent, and would be able to take out three guys standing in their way. I think a better direction to take this trailer would have been the three heroes realizing they're screwed unless if they break all the chains, so they go ahead and do that while trying to defend themselves as well.

As others have said though, I was kind of put off by the camera being all over the place, especially when that Elf girl was fighting them all off.

Posted by Wilshere

Watch out guys, its the ancient evil again! Ohh jeez!

It would be lovely for them to spend money on a new engine for the TES/Fallout series rather than throw money at an attempt of making a cash cow, but they obviously don't give a fuck.

Posted by Chaoticarsonist

And to think, all of this money could have been spent on a new Fallout or REAL Elder Scrolls game.

Just stop, Bethesda. You can't beat WoW. Many have tried. All of failed (besides EVE, due to being a fundamentally different type of game).

Lately I have taken them to mean a bad sign. I mean, I have to believe Bethesda or whoever spent an inordinate amount of money on this trailer that gives no story, introduces no characters, communicates absolutely nothing about the game. Money that could have been spent on making the game better or atleast producing a great gameplay demo. Did they do this because they dont feel a gameplay demo is compelling? I just dont get the point of these kinds of trailers...

Posted by JackSukeru

Man, that was long. I bet it was really expensive too.

Posted by HyperionXR

Would have preferred a 4-player Elder Scrolls, a la Borderlands.

Posted by mjbrune

Long drawn out trailer that shows no gameplay or story about the game. I've yet to see anything about this game but from the trailer I am going to already say this is probably bad.

Posted by KingGiddra

I feel like The Elder Scrolls is above making Arthas-level lore. Watching this trailer actively disinterested me in this game. I don't come to The Elder Scrolls games for raid bosses and the Lich King. This just feels wrong.

Posted by gamefreak9

... I enjoyed watching that... kind of it, it was okay but it has not given me any information about the game which i'm so far not buying. I don't know about most people but the story in the elder of scrolls was never the most thrilling aspect so even if there was some story revelation, i still don't care. Also this looked expensive...

Posted by Rocospi

Man, it even has the really expensive CG trailers like Old Republic did. I wonder how this is going to end?

Posted by Bicycle_Repairman

Nice looking short movie.

Posted by Dratter

That's probably the best looking Skele-Horse ever though, right? Right?! =D

Absolutely this. Too bad someone couldn't mod in multiplayer, like someone did for JustCause2. Wasn't Skyrim a bigger thing that JustCause2?

Edited by Nethlem

Just another example of an MMO that should have rather been a movie :/
And what's with all the shaky cam bullshit? This is a CGI movie the shaky cam is misplaced, we don't want blurry quick shots where we can't make out anything.

We want slow, long lasting shots with as much details as possible!

To be fair, this MMO doesn't exclude the possibility of a co-op Elder Scrolls game happening someday. I would assume if there was going to be a proper Elder Scrolls with multiplayer, it'd be handled by Bethesda Game Studios themselves, not given to another studio to develop like ESO was.

While co-op in a traditional Elder Scrolls game is probably the Holy Grail, I'm still very interested in trying ESO -- but I also don't hate MMOs, nor am I generally a cynic ... unlike the majority of the people commenting on this trailer, apparently.

Audio engineers and score writers, please stop using that fucking stock detuned brass swell sample. It's as hackneyed as a willhelm scream by now.

Let it surprise you. It's going to end poorly.

And it'll play just like this, I'm sure of it.
