cool

I'm actually really looking forward to this game. I can't wait to play a little action DnD with my table top DnD group.

@Juvenfly: Daggerdale is a downloadable title, good luck with the 'renting'
Posted by Daveyo520

I kinda want this. Too bad I would have no one to play with.

Taste my blade, Evil.  I'll let you.

This has missed a trick if it doesnt have 3D ...

Posted by PixelStyles

Why would they show such shotty gameplay. The combat hits look like it has the same lag the online game has. *sigh*

What this world needs is an actual turn-based 4th edition game.

AM I RIGHT?

Posted by jorbear

There was a lack of daggers in this trailer.
And a lack of penis jokes, as well.

It's called World of Warcraft. AM I RIGHT? HUH? HUH? GET IT?

All joking on the general not-greatness of 4th edition aside, they really do need to make a new D&D RPG.

I CAST MAAAAGIC MIIIISSILE...at the darkness.

Oh ... a well made coop D&D game could actually be pretty cool, I'll keep an eye on it.

So,  is the DnD community not fond of the 4th edition? Ugh, I  should've suspected that there's some kind of "elitism" going on. Like in any other field of interest, really. Still somewhat demoralising. I'm just getting into it (as far as I can at least, don't think my friends are up to play it, which is why I'd love an RPG) - thanks to this:  http://www.wizards.com/dnd/podcasts.aspx

I don't have a floopy disc drive anymore. How am I suppose to play this?

Whoever worked on the Everquest 2 graphics worked on this too, it looks like.

I sure hope Atari's licence for this franchise expires soon...

You and me both, although this does look like a fun XBLA game.

@fr0y0: I believe this has been said a few times before on the internet, but "haters are going to hate". I've been running a great 4th Edition D&D campaign for my friends for two and half years and we've enjoyed it tons. Also, I think there's a game called "Neverwinter" coming out that uses 4th Edition but which may be more like the old Neverwinter Nights line. That might fill our turn-based 4e desire. Maybe.

Here's a link to the not very informative webpage: http://www.playneverwinter.com/

Agreed.

Although the rights to the Infinity Engine games finally got worked out, so that's something at least.

I had no issue with the NWN series, except the wierd camera controls. Put an over the shoulder mode in that game and I'll go back to playing it tomorrow
That being said, how deep is this hack n slash? We talking arcade guantlet or is there an actual plot with real DnD choices?

Posted by Ravenousrattler

i hope its good, haven't had some good rpg co-op action in awhile.

"I decree you shall kill stuff to get loot from an overhead perspective."

This is the only premise anyone needs.

I am interested in this game, but that trailer did absolutely nothing to show what the game will be like or why I should care. F-

Those podcasts are what got me into D&D as well!

The D&D community certainly has its fair share of snobs/fanboys defending their favorite editions, but that doesn't mean you or I or anyone should enjoy the hobby any less. Since it's my first foray into non-videogame RPGs, I've tried 2nd, 3.5, and 4th editions and loved all of them. I have to admit 4e does show some significant MMO influence (but you could say that videogames were influenced by earlier editions as well...), but that's not a big deal to me since I'm familiar with video games and I role play enough that it doesn't detract in any way from my game.

Anyway on-topic: Game looks cool if for no other reason than I like D&D, but also kinda generic. Then again, not a lot is shown in the trailer.

I read the headline as:

Tie Fighter Fights in Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale

Sadly(?) it was not so!

@Juvenfly: Considering this title is downloadable only, let me know how that works out for you...
Posted by vinsanityv22

Hack n' Slashers belong on downloadable networks. If this is half as fun as Gauntlet Legends (Dammit Warner Bros., please realize you picked up more from your sale of Midway than just Mortal Kombat already!), this will be awesome.

This reminds me of DnD heroes on the original xbox, that game was some good same box co-op, hope it's included in this.

Looks generic.

Posted by PenguinDust

Remember when Microsoft limited all downloadable games to 50 megabytes?  Man, those days are long gone it would seem.  This looks pretty good for a downloadable.  The real crux will be in how it plays, though. I'm hoping for a QL on this one.

YO HOMIE!! YOU DON'T WANNA GO TO DAT DAGGERDALE SOME SERIOUS SHIT GOES DOWN THERE SON!

now thats a game i could get behind.

Its comforting to see that they have dummed down their video games as well...the writing is on the wall.  DnD is doomed.

Posted by ectoplasma

The animations look REALLY janky.

Posted by StrawHatLaw13

I hope this will be hack n slash fun w/ loots and more importantly multiplayer (local and online, and both maybe).  Can't wait to see GB's quick look of the game if they have one.  I love GB's quick looks. :)

Posted by floodiastus
@Spatulalad: I didnt like the 4th edition at all, felt more like an MMO than an RPG. Every class has energy/mana now it seems. It will translate VERY well to computer and videogames though.

I want my 1st edition D&D magic user. Cast magic missile, shield or sleep and then carry the parties 500ft of rope, 3 10' poles, grappling hooks, 5 weeks of dry rations, and a gallon of holy water for the rest of the adventure. Or until I fall into a 10' pit and die because I only have 1d4 hit points and I rolled a 2., now those were good times.

It's all that arcade glowie shit floating around
on screen that is a bit ridiculous.  Fuck, I wish
they would downplay that crap, not blind the
screen with it.
