As someone with well over 2000 hours in Diablo 3, I'm definitely going to be getting this expansion. I am however, curious about what they mean when they they're increasing the level cap. I assume they are referring to paragon levels.

holy fucking shit

I remember lucking out and completing nightmare stupid fast because I picked the most broken class: demon hunter. I had around 5 million gold and several times that invested in my gear by the time I quit. I think some major nerfs came down eventually but I'd already played my fill.

So an expansion with only a single new class, and basically a rehash of the paladin, to boot.

Diablo III, you never fail to disappoint.

I'm willing to bet they do little to fix their overwhelmingly shitty itemization, too.

@spazmaster666: Normal levels will go up to 70 to unlock a new skill. Paragon levels won't have a limit.

Was there a price announced and I missed it? Can't remember how much Diablo 2 expansions cost. If its not $60 I might get it, I was unhappy paying full price for D3, especially since I feel Torchlight 2 gave me just as good a game for a lot less. Though I actually made $15 or so off the RMAH so it paid partially for itself

I think I'll be content just watching all of the cutscenes on youtube this time.

I played Diablo III hardcore after launch up until I finished Inferno with my Barb. I stuck around a little bit for the new leveling system they introduced after that, but quickly lost interest. Unless this is somehow the Diablo II patch for Diablo III I think I will be content to pass.

Price and the amount of actual new content will be the ultimate deal breakers/makers for me (and almost everyone else, I suppose).

Given how Blizzard has handled D3 I'm not exactly pining for more.

Ever since about the 2nd expansion of WoW the blizzard cinematics have really gone down hill. Definitely reached the lowest point with the Demon Hunter trailer for D3. This does little to improve. The voice acting is always terrible, cheesy and cliche. I didn't even want to finish HoTS because of the cinematics. I really hope the expansion does well but i'm all but done with Blizzard games at this point until they get a new writer.

Online-only singleplayer? No sale. Better luck next time Blizzard. Looking forward to reading the inevitable server-error complaints from the idiots that buy it and cant play.

Blizzard has a really strong art direction and I love them for it. I wish I could dedicate more time to their franchieses, though! This looks sort of okay in terms of more Diablo-y content..

God , D3 sucked. Now it's time for the Paladin reskin. This looks like more of the same trash. Confined spaces that never randomize, among other things, kills the Diablo experience.

Everything about D3 is so lacklustre. Now they hope to bank on D2 again by bringing back the Paladin (oh, sorry, crusader...) and with that little "Not even death can save you from me'-esque quote at the end of this video. Also the reintroduction of a higher level cap (could it be 99? maybe 100) is just admitting paragon levels were a stupid stopgap measure. God I loved D2 and LoD...

Guess I'll be waiting on D4, since D3 never delivered.

@gunsaredrawn: Half the point of an expansion is to bring back people who quit playing. Most people stop playing any given game after several months.

@tordah: Sounds exactly like how i felt about it. You should check out Path of Exile (http://www.pathofexile.com/) it's in beta still, but I found it to be veeery close to D2 in tone and style. Fun hack'n slash... probably the most fun such game i have played since D2. Just give it a little bit until you get out of the starting area which is a bit booring... but hey, its a starting area so. The tombs and dungeons made me feel like i was in D2 with high res graphics almost, got some hard nostalgic hits there. ;)

If you were way into D2 maybe give it a try, i was very pleasantly surprised.

Might give D3 another try on consoles as i heard that there will be no auctionhouse there, might get more fun at that point.

New class looks ok, looks a bit standard though... would have hoped for something a bit more inventive for an added class but it looks good.

I don't know how all y'all can be excited for an expansion to a game that you haven't played in a while. If you stopped before then obviously there was a reason behind, probably the same reason you won't play this expansion for very long.

The game is just so boring and pointless, the story sucked and it felt like a rehash of the last 2 games. D3 felt like a huge waste of money.

@monkfishesq: You pretty much summed up my same feelings over D3 in about a fourth of the space.

Here's to hoping the campaign is fun and maybe they can come up with a way to make it fun enough, least for me, to play through more then once. I know they can do it, heck I played WoW for over 8 years!

I liked Diablo 3, up until it got too hard to progress. But by then I had gotten a lot out of it, so I wasn't mad.

I don't know I ended playing more d2 since d3 came out then d3 itself. THey way skills are not blocked off made the game extremely boring.

The environments look a bit better, though I still resent the character models. They really lack the punch and style of the old sprite-ish models of D2.

The writing is what truly killed D3 for me though, and this already looks like it's hamming it up a bit. The demons of the underdark really lose their luster when they're given any lines of dialogue at all.

I still really liked the gameplay as a whole though, I felt like that was an area they actually exceeded in over D2 in most respects (except for the involvement of the auction house). I'm.. mildly tempted, but I'll probably only give in if my friends do so as well.

I think a lot of people liked it, but they just got burnt out on it way faster and it's not even because it's a bad game or anything but rather because we're all slowly moving on from those type of games.

I liked it. Actually found I could go back to it and enjoy it more than Torchlight 2 (which I didn't expect). I find the combat fun.

I didn't even complete the first chapter in Diablo 3. I just wish they'd release the original Diablo in the Battle.net Classics section. My disc is scratched beyond repair, and the original Diablo is probably all I need from that franchise.

I like the look of the crusader, but I'm not sure I want more Diablo 3. It just wan't the game I was hoping it to be. A huge disappointment after Diablo 2, which is my favourite game of all time.

As soon as I saw that class I said to myself, "Hot damn! They brought the paladin back!" Who knows how close it will play to the paladin, but I can't wait to get my hands on that. Sword and board is how I played my barbarian, so it will be nice to have a class that is designed around having a shield.

I could go on for a long time about why I don't think Diablo 3 lived up to Diablo 2... but I won't!

Instead I'll just say that these "new environments" look suspiciously like more graveyards and tombs. And, I find it hard to imagine anybody is going to get very excited about this expansion in general, as long as it's still attached to Diablo 3-- the RPG where you don't really build your character, you just go buy fancier stuff.

It'll still sell, because at this point Blizzard have achieved the level of reputation where people will buy their games even if they aren't sure they want to, but it doesn't change the underlying problem of a game that feels less like a cohesive experience and more like a monetization scheme.

To me, anyway.

Well about 5 years too late on this expansion, D3 was fun for about a weekend finishing off the overly short story & just got to what happens with Blizzard's other game World of Warcraft where it goes from taking your variety of gear & skills you get at the start to where you need to be excessively specific on what you need for gear & skills or you just can't get through it. Compared to the previous Diablo 2 expansion that added many classes, this mock paladin of the Crusader just doesn't feel worth the price plus if D3 is still excessively short, this expansion won't help things. Definitely going to pass on this expansion, strange seeing that they are still doing things for the game that just fell short compared to Starcraft2 as a recent sequel to a past Blizzard franchise.

No. It's because the 1.03 patch started doing what everyone was afraid of: nerfing Inferno mode to be easy as hell, bringing in the real money auction house which virtually started ruining the need to grind anything but gold, no honest endgame (and I wouldn't even call the addition of Monster Level in dungeons to be endgame), and overall forcing cookie cutter builds rather than promoting build diversity.

Has some of that changed? Maybe. I honestly couldn't tell you because I uninstalled that game about two weeks or so after the game came out. I was also incredibly vocal about it on these forums. As a Diablo fan, that game was a complete disgrace. It went against many of the principles that made Diablo worthwhile.

Nonetheless, don't get it twisted. People jumped ship because Blizzard fucked a lot of things up too early.

You mean to tell me this isn't coming out in 2014? I doubt it but hell I thought diablo 3 would come out like 2 years before it actually did. Blizzard time is when it's doneā„¢
