Because either A) IW knows that their biggest audience is on the 360 and could get some extra money by putting the logo there or B) Microsoft just straight up payed them. "
ill go with A) considering that the first MW sold like 3 million more on the 360

People are acting like this is the most controversial thing ever in a video game. Yes its over the top and yes its a big departure from the series but for crying out loud Call of Duty needs this. CoD's plots are not epic, they are drier than the PBS documentaries they were based off.   CoD4 played it waay to safe and anyone who disagrees should take another look. You're fighting in an unnamed middle east country because we're too afraid to say Iraq, you're also tasked with fighting the Russians but technically its not Russia because they are ultra-nationalist Russian terrorists so we are technically not offending the Russians either.   By focusing the story on what seems to be the downfall of a major US city and doing it in a semi-real world setting is rather cutting edge than any of the pussy stuff thats been done. Terrorists are not from no name countries, the USA is not invincible, and Russia will in all likelihood be our enemy again. I think games need to stop living in fantasy land where not offending someone is more important then being realistic or factual or at least having damn good storytelling. "

To be fair, tetris doesn't even change the setpiece much. Doesn't mean everyone gets bored of tetris after the first time around. replace tetris with cocaine/cheetos/orange juice if you're still unconvinced. "

I, personally, love the direction this series is taking. Excitement is far more important than realism, for a video game at least. Like @Ket87: said, do you really remember CoD4's story? It's possible to make a fun game that's also accurate, but Infinity Ward hasn't quite been able to pull it off, so I couldn't be happier that they're dropping the realism in favor of what they're best at, entertainment. And I bet most of this so-called "controversy" could have been avoided by creating a whole new "Hollywood action" series, but it seems like they've all but done that by practically dropping the Call of Duty branding.

And I have to say, I'm an American, and upon my first viewing my mind didn't detect even the slightest hint of controversial content in this trailer. This is just another example of how the majority of people in this country really make me ashamed and embarrassed to be a resident of it. American's are offended by everything! See: Lady Gaga SNL. Ugh, this country frustrates me, but at least we have Netflix right? =P

If this game is really about playing other countries against the Untied States, the great. I'm not anti-American, but I know America is not perfect, and does start a lot of its wars and create a lot of its enemies. If the story is what people say, then good for infinity ward for daring to think outside the box. I was tired of the YOOOO JOEEEE! type of story based shooters.

What happened to the time we would discuss that "call of duty" is in the title of MW2? Now it's all "oh DC oh anti-america oh OMG".

I actually feel like this was a big spoiler. The whole DC thing seems like something I would rather see when I actually play it instead of in a trailer... but I guess I'll have to see how it turns out.

Reminds me of the trailers for the first Modern Warfare.
"Oh, look. There's that nuke from the trailer. Cool, I guess."

I'm just hoping they've saved something really mind blowing for the actual game.

I'm with you. They seem to guard the game so closely, that I can't imagine them giving away something like this. Unless they're just trying to say "You thought our last game has a bunch of 'holy shit' moments? well this is what we're giving away for free. What do you think of that?"

This is the first footage I've seen focusing on the single player storyline since the audio-only teaser.  I think it looks awesome.  It will be interesting to see how Washington DC gets pummeled.

Doubt it.
That makes absolutely zero business sense, particularly given we're talking about a game published from the coffers of bobby kotick.

My point is; while there is no question that the 360 version will outsell the PS3 (probably by a difference proportional to the user base discrepancy, like last time) - there is no chance in hell Activision or IW would intentionally and so blatantly alienate an immense portion of their own user base without it being a simple business decision.
Microsoft offsets ($$) any potential loss of PS3 sales while the extra 360 promotion potentially creates extra revenue from increased sales on that console etc.

Need I even mention microsoft's history will this kind of thing. Dont get me wrong, they can pay for what they want, thats capatilism. But theres no question they did.

Anyway, Im generally sick of all this shit. The games multiplatform - Ive never even played a COD game on anything except a PS or PC.

This kind of disingenuous campaigning is something I could live without.
Games gonna rock though.

This is the same thing that Massive did with word in conflict, and i must say that im glad they did. I think that like in WIC, its only going to help the story get better. I usually never play the single player portion of any game twice, but for some reason i happily play cod4 twice, normal and vet. to me, that says a lot about that game's story (yes, i did beat the epilogue in vet...fuck the intel..lol). The only other game that i have more then once was mass effect.

The Story of Cain & Abel is far from exclusive to the Bible. The Torah and the Qu'ran have it, too, though the Qu'ran has a bit of a different ending. (God creates laws against murder rather than punish Cain for something that was not banned beforehand)

The whole 11.10.09 date is nicely marketable in America, but it isn't nearly as catchy in, oh say, the rest of the world.

Anywhere they use the more sensible day/month/year, it doesn't make sense, and anywhere they use the international standard of year/month/day, again it makes no sense.

But then, this is marketing we're talking about, we can't expect them to be aware after all.

Wow, are people really flipping shit over D.C getting fucked up?

Let me guess, you don't give a shit when they show stuff blowing up in Rio de Janeiro, Russia, or "Iraq," but God forbid there be an attack on the U.S. Get over it. It's not anti-American or any bullshit like that, it's simply a good story and much more interesting than yet another middle eastern village to blow to hell.

Sorry for all the cursing, but some people are so stupid.

This paranoid attitude is what we Europeans came to expect from the US of A after 9/11. First you made up a thread from Iraq to start a second war to satisfy your obvious need for revenge and hunt down Saddam Hussein (weapons of mass destruction my ass - not a single one was ever found), today the USA are more or less openly thinking about attacking Iran (Why? Because they can, I suppose). And now Russia again, seriously? Give me a break.

Jihad means "struggle" and it can be interpreted as a personal struggle or a physical struggle against enemies. Likewise the word terrorist can easily be applied to the Taliban just like it can to the United States. Both use terror to effect a political end. the Taliban use SVBIEDs, the U.S. uses 'shock & awe".

Anyway, more awesome voice acting and slick presentation.

You are right; it is a very marketable day in America seeing as it is the Marine Corps birthday and the day before Veteran's Day.   Dismissing the marketing department because they are focusing on their most lucrative region is absurd. Activision's world wide branches are handling local marketing respectively. Overseas it will just be the tenth of November, the day MW2 is released. And yes, I believe for most people, that will be enough.

day/month/year is more sensible? I wholeheartedly disagree, as that is entirely dependent on where you live. For example, if you lived in Canada, the current date would be presented as follows: First, you will start with the month, which is October. Next you will say the date, the 15th, to clarify the date of the month you are in. Finally, you will say the year, which is 2009. What does that give us? October 15th, 2009 or date/month/year. This makes perfect sense, and is very logical to state as that is the order you present the date in when you are not abbreviating it. Although it's use is limited, in terms of the number of countries that follow this formatting, it is utilized in an entire CONTINENT (US and Canada, eg. North America), and as such should be respected as simply another way of presenting this data.

However, are you stating that the rest of the world is so ignorant that it cannot know there are different ways of presenting a date? Besides, what does that have to do with being 'catchy'? If people are really curious, which they may be after watching the trailer, they would just look up the release date online if they couldn't understand the formatting. Your argument holds no water.

It got delayed two weeks today - for the PC. It's also 60 euro/dollars on PC as well.

Basically, Activision is telling you to pirate the game. That's what I'll do anyway, til they lower the price to 40-50 which is a reasonable price. I'm sorry, but I just don't see why MW2 is worth 20 euro more then any other game, and Activisions bullshit tactics (they tried to sell Prototype for 60 on PC as well) are just pissing me off and turning me off a purchase.
