Storms?  Storms in the Old Republic?  This isn't fucking Joystiq, what the hell?

I like how that last shot suggests that it's really not that big of a deal when a Jedi leaves a Sith to die on a pile of molten rock.

Thats some MMO-ass animation quality.

I'd roll a Jedi Consular, if it wasn't for that dumb skill pulling a porta potty out of the ground ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE!
 
I'd make it tons of little rocks and dust being compacted by the force into a pointy rockcone that's being hurled at the enemy. All Mortal Kombat like.
 
Fucking hate that skill sooo much. Almost ruins SW:TOR for me. Not really... but I hate it a lot. It's just a 'leaving a bad taste in my mouth' type of animation. I expect better than that.
 
Guess it's got to be Sith Lightning Bub then. Or I'll just roll the melee jedi class. Other than that - SW:TOR's looking better with every consecutive trailer.

Man, I really hate how MMO combat has no action to it whatsoever. Troopers just standing there in the open shooting each other until one of them dies, then aiming at the next guy and so on. And the Jedi duals are two guys standing rooted to one spot facing each other trading ridiculous over-animated attacks where they do a crazy backflip - and possibly just miss due to the nature of the game. I mean, that'd be fine if that's what Star Wars combat looked like, but it isn't. The only really static lightsaber duel was Vader vs. Obi-Wan, and they sure as hell weren't doing crazy jumps. 
 
That said, I'm willing to give this game the benefit of the doubt because KOTOR was kind of the exact same way.

The music was awesome, Consular looks alright.  Here's something I am copying and pasting from another forum, directed at people who will inevitably bitch about the release date stuff.
 
"TOR was announced on Oct. 21st, 2008. It's likely shipping in a few months, they've revealed a release window.

Guild Wars 2 was announced on March 27th, 2007. It will likely not ship this year. No release date/window.

Diablo III was announced on June 28, 2008. It will likely not ship this year. No release date/window. (yeah it's a single player game, but it has a lot of similarities to MMOs).

WoW announced: September 2, 2001 - released November 4, 2004.
LotrO announced: 2003 (technically 1998, but it was a diff company) - released in March 2007.
SWG announced: March 2000 - released June 2003"

I love Star wars, I was even very slightly okay with the prequels, so I'll give this game a shot, but I ain't buying it on release or anything, I'm going to go play a trial when trials become available later on down the line.

Still sticking to my assassin. I really liked the sniper build back in the Alpha.

This game is going to be so bad.

That didn't really look too good. It looked kinda bad actually.

The more I see and hear about this game the more I worry that it's not going to live up to the hype. Certainly not a day one purchase for me - I'll wait to see if it takes off. Trouble is, if there's too many people like me it'll struggle.

I wish it was Williams composing the soundtrack and not just dudes licensing Two Steps from Hell to do it. Iono. Maybe that was just for the trailer. But man, the more I see of this game, the less excited I am for it.

Lightsabers that don't dismember aren't Lightsabers. 

I recognize that music. It's the music when you win the Global Starcraft 2 Team League or the GSL Final.

I've got good news for you: that's basically what this is, only with online co-op.

Watching this makes me want Guild Wars 2.

I'll be rolling a Consular after seeing this video. Jedi Sage is going to be awesome.

Ugh. All the combat looks so awful, it saddens me. Maybe take some of that Fourth Pillar and put it into the fun shit?

I have absolutely no idea why people are so cynical about this game. Anyways, I'll probably roll Consular as my Republic alt, but I'm gonna be maining an Imperial Operative.

Completely psyched for this game - I didn't ask for this originally, but will be more than happy to play through 8 different main KOTOR stories and hang out with my friends in this world. For those who just want a single player game out of this, you could always just play through a long class story without grouping with anyone. Then resubscribe when/if you feel like doing another?

@Toxin066: There are 5 and a half hours of original music in The Old Republic plus music from KOTOR and the original John Williams soundtrack. Don't worry, the music sounds amazing.

It looked alright until that epic battle where dudes stood in one place shooting each other for a minute.

There's no way I'm signing up for another game of "Kill 50 dire boars".

So unless TOR has a radically superior quest system...

Your problem isn't with the MMO genre, but rather, is with the RPG genre. Look at the original KOTOR games--they're incredibly "stand around and watch numbers tick." With that said, there are quite a few "twitch skill" MMORPGs out there. Hell, even limited to the free to play categories, I can name a few.

See: Dragon Nest, Spiral Knights, Vindictus.

wow that was terrible, really really bad.  were most of those animations missing frames or what?  also why is no one moving?  was that all static lightmaps?  Is this 2004?  what the hell is going on over there at bioware?  I love how it's 2011 and all the round objects have gotten upgraded from pentagons to octagons.  Really fantastic modelling guys.
