As a Korean, I was disappointed with Seoul being reduced to a citystate in Civ V.

This pleases me greatly.

Would Starcraft qualify as a major civ landmark now? or a civ specific-weapon?

Posted by crusader8463

They are really nickle and dimming the fanbase with the DLC for this game.

Where is my Shaka Zulu?!

Edit: I do like my Science victory though ...

Love this game. Will certainly get this and the Wonder-Pack. It seems overpowered though.

I wonder if they get insect mutant units and warp gates...

Definitely interested in the scenario map they're throwing in as a Japanese major specializing in history. Even if Korea is otherwise outside of my area of expertise when it isn't at least somewhat involved in the Japanese history I study, I'm still pleasantly surprised to see it getting some good-looking content for Civ V. There's a lot more to the nation than all the "hur dur Kim Jong-il" people will ever give it credit for.

Might be the first Civ V DLC I pick up, love Asian history, and love being so much more technologically advanced than my rivals in Civ V.

After a DLC buying bender I went on after the third pack, I started feeling that way. On the one hand one single new civilization can change so much about the game. On the other hand, it costs next to nothing to produce. An idea and a few variable tweaks, a new leader rendering and small bits of voice acting. I couldn't care less about the scenarios they usually bundle with these things.

It's yet another of those scenarios where I wish I had waited for the inevitable DLC rollup release. GOTY edition, "Ultimate" pack, whatever it would be called. Even sold as a cheaper expansion pack. I'm so so bitter about the DLC abuse racking the industry.

The only thing I can say is that at least they've continued to support what is a fantastic game. The game balance patches have added a ton to the game. The bitter part of me can say they should have released the game that polished in the first place, but some developers might not even bother to do the polish after release anyway.

What disappoints me about Civ is that the leader discussion screens don't change over time. Is it too much to ask to see a track-suited Gandhi pull up in his Honda Civic with a box of Krispy Kremes?

Posted by Bumbuliuz

Need to look at this, been having fun with the DLC for Civ V so far.

Posted by crusader8463
@AndrewB: The part that bothers me about the DLC, is that it's all stuff that they would have waited to bundle in with the expansion pack every 6-8 months that came out after the game for $20 in the past. Now they are cutting it into chunks and selling it for $5-$10 a pop.

Personally, I find the leaders add no diversity to the gameplay. When I was playing it all the time I always found myself falling into the same strategy every game, and no matter what civ I used I always came out on top and the strategy worked.
Edited by RelentlessKnight

no really a surprise, civ 3 conquest also has Korean race but I am disappointed that both Civ 4 and this doesn't have their leaders change their outfits like Lincoln wearing some sort of devil hat in the Medieval Age to Joan of Arc being fully balded in a army t-shirt in the Modern Age in Civ 3

A science focused civ? If the dlc for this game wasn't so pointless, I'd consider getting this.

Also, an upgraded caravel? I don't know how I feel about that. Caravels are pieces of crap.

I only bought Civ V maybe two or three weeks ago but I'm loving it! Don't think I'll buy any of the DLC any time soon, though. I've only finished the game with one Civilization and that alone took me about 5 hours...

Edited by Forum_User

I'm just waiting for the inevitable full expansion.  I don't much care about these slightly different playstyles.  I don't think I've even played as all of the leaders in the game to begin with.  I wish they would so something with some of the more niche abilities, like Elizabeth's.   It's not like the AI knows how to do anything much at sea anyways.  Longbowmen can be ridiculous, though, so maybe that's supposed to be balanced by her often inconsequential passive ability.

Just, for the love of God, don't muck up a Civ game with a poorly implemented espionage mechanic for the third time in a row.  (At least I can assume it wouldn't use an economic slider, so that's a plus.)

I think you need to bump up the difficulty level if you're winning every time, but anyway, I also find myself playing pretty much the same way regardless of what Civ I'm playing, though some of the abilities seem to be considerably better than others.

Every once in a while, I try to alter my playstyle to be in line with a specific leader's bonuses, like focusing more on culture if they have a culture bonus (to try for a cultural victory).  That usually doesn't turn out so well.

In a game in which you macro, you're just playing StarCraft in slow motion.

They should have a unique trait for Korea where as kpop spreads throughout the world it slowly converts the enemy nations to Korea.  Kinda like the population percentages on individual tiles in Civ 4.
