That trailer was pretty rad. I'll probably end up buying this on console if the controls aren't atrocious. I've put over 250 hours into the PC version and I'm quite excited that the Xbox and PS3 crowds will now have a chance to try Terraria as well. The more, the merrier, I say!

I don't think anyone is saying that people deserve it for free, BUT, the console folks are paying the same amount and getting more. Not making that available even for a fee to PC players is kind of shitty, like it or not. Even if you don't care and are happy with what you got, it's still a bit lame that they just unceremoniously dropped the ball on the PC version. It's not the end of the world and yeah, totally true that the original game was a fine value before. But, it sucks that they are going to consoles to make more money, and ignoring the market that got them enough capital to move up in the world.

I don't care, because I never cared for the game, but saying it's not kinda shitty is a bit unfair. No, you shouldn't be a whiny little brat. But it's ok to be upset that someone else is getting something better for the same cost as what you paid. Some people will end up buying the game twice to have that extra content, and it should just be a $5 piece of DLC on PC or something.

It's a crummy situation, and I think both sides are over-reacting a bit. The people who are upset about missing content shouldn't be so upset, and people like you shouldn't be so snide about people missing out. It's sort of like the 3DS price drop thing. Shortly after release, they drop the price significantly, and then just give people fuckin GBA games to make up for it. That's pretty crummy, and it's because they over-estimated the demand for the product. Or in other words, 'being greedy.'

I might get this version, but it's more likely i get it for 2 bucks during a Steam sale.

I'm not sure what you're talking about with The Binding of Isaac. There's going to be a reworked version of the game coming out, with a new art style and content and various other tweaks. Consoles are going to get it, PC is going to get it. People who already own the PC version will even get a discount on the new one. I'm not seeing where one could take offense to this. It's a new game.

@Krystal_Sackful: Same artist, different dev team. It looks wayyyyyy more involved than Terraria though, which is good.

Great. Now port this new version to PC and offer the customer loyalty discount, for those who have already bought the original, like a number of Steam games do. The original version is lacking in many ways that seem to be fixed in this new version. 
 
That is, unless the console version is a straight port of the PC version with just some new content. In that case, offer it up as paid DLC since it could be patched into the existing PC version.

Ehh not really interested in a game like this on a console. Just by the nature of a controller building has to be much less efficient and probably frustrating for anyone that played the PC version. Now if they release this content or similar content on PC I'd gladly check it out, heck if it was enough content label it as an expansion and charge money for it or just charge average DLC price for it. I don't feel entitled to shit, but not giving the PC gamers the option of these additions as either a free upgrade or paid DLC or whatever is not cool.

It's not like people like you are helping things any. Why are you defending the developers and the game instead of the community that made the game what it is today? I mean, what side are you on exactly? Why exactly would you not want all these new features brought to the PC version?

Your stance makes little sense, if you're a part of the community, rather than one of the developers. And if you ARE one of the developers, then I would advise you to not be making statements like that.

There are a couple of ways to look at this release. You can get angry that the console version will have content that's not in the PC version. Or you can get pumped because we're getting a game that features 4-player local coop in an era when we're lucky if we get 2-player local multiplayer without having to buy extra premium online passes. Being the eternal half-glass-full kind of guy, I'm choosing the latter.

wow- looks like a really fantastic update. if i hadn't played the pc version, i totally would pick this up. but unfortunately that ship has sailed. can't blame them for using exclusive content to lure in new and old players, however.

Wow. Nobody had said anything about feeling ripped off when you posted and you still got pretty mad. You came here looking to pick a fight, right? The only one who's bitching is you. Just saying.

I played the hell out of minecraft and never got into this game. With it coming to consoles though, and having split screen may be fun to try out.

He should do paid DLC on the PC. They've put more than enough free content into this game, the "gimmes" will bitch, but they'll probably still buy it.

I agree the content coming to the console version should be on the PC, but charge for it, developers gotta eat too!.

And just to make clear, most who loved Terraria who now have a bad taste in their mouths don't "feel ripped off" (the game's awfully well-priced), but simply lied to. The developer (Redigit) promised large portions of additional content for months on end (some of it teased with in-game screenshots), and out of nowhere simply abandoned the game. Many who purchased the game bought it after hearing about these incredible new features, only to never see them incorporated. Perhaps you weren't following the game's development closely enough to hear about these massive features which were to be included on the PC version. But it pays to understand why masses of people feel betrayed before throwing a misplaced tantrum about it.

Man, with the amount of time I put into the game, I'd be totally fine even paying for new content. I just want a good excuse to jump back in. Adding the console additions to the PC version wouldbe nice, especially since there's no way in hell I'm playing this game with a controller. It'll feel so terrible.

I'd double dip for a Vita version. Doesn't look like there will be one so I hope they release the extra content for the PC.

It was a complete pain in the ass to make sure the back walls of buildings were done properly to make sure that the NPCs thought the house/room was good enough for them to live in with a mouse a keyboard control scheme, I can't imagine how irritating it will be to have to do that with a keyboard. :(

I can't even imagine that the controls will be anywhere near fun to use.

They sure have done a lot to this game since they stop developing for it.

Terraria looks old now. I played the hell out of it on PC, but this looks boring now. I guess maybe it lost its mystery? I think the map is a bad addition, it instantly makes the game feel smaller.

It's more about getting into a Capcom-like situation where certain developers are programming customers to never purchase the initial release as there is an edition coming with content which will NEVER be made available to original owners. This isn't some waiting for the Game of the Year or Ultimate edition situation but rather one requiring people to re-purchase the entire game as they CANNOT add this content to the initial release.

If "abandoned" isn't fair then how about "players were lied to about future content"? You can't develop a game forever, I get that, but you also can't start getting into a situation where all of these promises about content are being made only to be, yes, abandoned in favor of making the next game while also consenting to a port with *gasp* added content.

It's slimy.

I definitely don't feel ripped off, nor do I want this new content for free. I do, however, hope the new stuff is ported over to PC eventually.

It's not about entitlement but rather abandonment. Furthermore, it's evidence that this will happen again with the next game so why not just not purchase that one until the other shoe drops or perhaps not at all as you'll just be abandoned yet again.

Calling the game "abandoned" is a little harsh, don't you think? The game was updated/patched about 10 times. Look at the enormous list of changes and tweaks (http://wiki.terrariaonline.com/Version_history - I'm having trouble making a link), and it's pretty clear that the developer cared and put a significant amount of work into the game.

I get that you want to vote with your wallet, which I completely agree with, but you're being a little unfair to a $20 (or much less, now) downloadable game made by an indie developer a year and a half ago. The dude's allowed to move on.
