Hopefully they will also be back-porting a lot of these additions to the PC version, but pretty keen nevertheless! Even with work being done on Starbound and the port being a different team, there ought to be -some- flexibility to kick improvements back.

@GaistHeidegger: I'm pretty sure it's being developed by a different developer and the OG developers said they were not going to have it ported.

Some of the new additions (i.e. the built in map, especially) look really cool.

Still concerned that the building aspect will be a pain without a mouse, though.

I hope people don't come in here commenting about how they feel ripped off. That boo hoo, consoles get extra stuff and we don't. We PC players built this community and spread the word about the game, so we deserve - nay, DEMAND - to get everything for free. I'm seeing a lot of this sentiment in other places online.

I got the game for $20, put well over 100 hours into it, and feel like I've gotten far more than my money's worth. If you bought the game for $2.50 during a Steam sale and you're still bitching, just shut the hell up and enjoy the game.

I'd say this was a very nice trailer. I don't really see how they really added that much to the game, though. New boss, map, some items, pets, music, and some enemies. That's cool, but considering it's been how long since their last update? I feel it's a bit lackluster.

When's Starbound coming out?

Just to be picky in the title the "makers of terraria" bit is kinda wrong since they have an outside studio making the port!

I've always thought Terraria looked more fun than Minecraft because it was more of a game. Plus, I enjoy the side scrolling art much more.

Looking forward to this whenever it drops.

Terraria was my one attempt to get into the Minecraft genre. I was hooked for a little while, but didn't ultimate get very far before I got tired of clicking on dirt.

It is disheartening to see a growing number of indie developers use one platform as funding for other platforms only to then abandon the original players and not even offer-up a paid content option.

It rubs people the wrong way, they remember as much, and come the next release those people recall being abandoned and just stop supporting the developers all-together.

Both Terraria and Binding of Isaac fall into that category for me: I'm not purchasing anything else from the people who worked on those games until they at least offer the option of content parity across platforms paid or otherwise.

So yeah, PC players don't DESERVE this added content but, by that same token, these developers don't deserve any more of our money.

@SirCandle It's not like these ports and added content happen without the consent of the original developer(s). If the developer(s) wanted the content available on the original platform then it would happen.

It's not about entitlement but rather abandonment. Furthermore, it's evidence that this will happen again with the next game so why not just not purchase that one until the other shoe drops or perhaps not at all as you'll just be abandoned yet again.

It's about the optics of the situation and the bad taste you leave in the mouths of those which supported you first.

@FellOpenIan: Just because he is ok with someone adding stuff to make it actually worth buying doesn't mean he is going to go and port that shit to the PC. With your logic why would you buy any game that might eventually get DLC because eventually there will be a better version of that game that you can buy at the same price. You're talking about not buying the next game because they will just abandon that as well. If they never stop working on the current game, there will never be a next game.

@FellOpenIan: Also you can't just say it isn't about entitlement when that is what your entire argument is based on. As someone who originally supported the game you think you "deserve" this extra content.

I could potentially be interested in this. When the game was released I thought it looked too much like Minecraft and I wasn't interested in going down that hole again but this trailer is pretty hype!

Calling the game "abandoned" is a little harsh, don't you think? The game was updated/patched about 10 times. Look at the enormous list of changes and tweaks (http://wiki.terrariaonline.com/Version_history - I'm having trouble making a link), and it's pretty clear that the developer cared and put a significant amount of work into the game.

I get that you want to vote with your wallet, which I completely agree with, but you're being a little unfair to a $20 (or much less, now) downloadable game made by an indie developer a year and a half ago. The dude's allowed to move on.

Is any of this stuff coming to the PC?

If not... don't care. I'm not buying it again on a console that I don't want to play it on just for new content.

I'd perfer if it was paid DLC for the PC, if that's what it takes.

I definitely don't feel ripped off, nor do I want this new content for free. I do, however, hope the new stuff is ported over to PC eventually.

Because you're entitled to preemptively whine, bitch, and rant about about others (who haven't even spoken) that they shouldn't complain and feel entitled? Calm down.

And just to make clear, most who loved Terraria who now have a bad taste in their mouths don't "feel ripped off" (the game's awfully well-priced), but simply lied to. The developer (Redigit) promised large portions of additional content for months on end (some of it teased with in-game screenshots), and out of nowhere simply abandoned the game. Many who purchased the game bought it after hearing about these incredible new features, only to never see them incorporated. Perhaps you weren't following the game's development closely enough to hear about these massive features which were to be included on the PC version. But it pays to understand why masses of people feel betrayed before throwing a misplaced tantrum about it.

@SirCandle

It's more about getting into a Capcom-like situation where certain developers are programming customers to never purchase the initial release as there is an edition coming with content which will NEVER be made available to original owners. This isn't some waiting for the Game of the Year or Ultimate edition situation but rather one requiring people to re-purchase the entire game as they CANNOT add this content to the initial release.

If "abandoned" isn't fair then how about "players were lied to about future content"? You can't develop a game forever, I get that, but you also can't start getting into a situation where all of these promises about content are being made only to be, yes, abandoned in favor of making the next game while also consenting to a port with *gasp* added content.

It's slimy.

Terraria looks old now. I played the hell out of it on PC, but this looks boring now. I guess maybe it lost its mystery? I think the map is a bad addition, it instantly makes the game feel smaller.

It was a complete pain in the ass to make sure the back walls of buildings were done properly to make sure that the NPCs thought the house/room was good enough for them to live in with a mouse a keyboard control scheme, I can't imagine how irritating it will be to have to do that with a keyboard. :(

Man, with the amount of time I put into the game, I'd be totally fine even paying for new content. I just want a good excuse to jump back in. Adding the console additions to the PC version wouldbe nice, especially since there's no way in hell I'm playing this game with a controller. It'll feel so terrible.

You can make the argument that putting different content in the same game on different platforms creates confusion and elitism, but c'mon. It’s different when it’s a woman, this is over the line, and minecraft should have known better.

He should do paid DLC on the PC. They've put more than enough free content into this game, the "gimmes" will bitch, but they'll probably still buy it.

I agree the content coming to the console version should be on the PC, but charge for it, developers gotta eat too!.

There are a couple of ways to look at this release. You can get angry that the console version will have content that's not in the PC version. Or you can get pumped because we're getting a game that features 4-player local coop in an era when we're lucky if we get 2-player local multiplayer without having to buy extra premium online passes. Being the eternal half-glass-full kind of guy, I'm choosing the latter.
