Love my Vita, but couldn't imagine it without the gorgeous OLED screen. But if they can release this one for cheaper, then will be nice to have more people experience the system.

I wasn't planning on getting Borderlands 2 for the vita since I've already finished it, but if it comes with all the DLC that's gonna be quite tempting.

Got my Vita on black friday and have been loving it. It really is a good time to buy one if you have been on the fence.

SONY dumped their PC division recently, you would think they are smart enough to drop the Vita failboat. Apparently not.

I get about 3-4 hours of battery life if I'm solely playing games on it. Playing music, or using the likes of the Youtube app doesn't drain it nearly as quick.

I kind of want to get a PS Vita mainly because I have PS4 but I've also been seriously thinking about getting a 3DS lately. Not really sure which one I'll go with if I even do eventually buy a handheld.

The Vita 2K version puts the early DualShock 4 batches' battery life to shame at least.

It's a pleasure to play things like Persona 4 Golden on the go. That game is down to $20 officially now, Europeans may have to import from a nice place like videogamesplus in Canada.

It's REALLY not all that bad of a system. Just putting that out there. If you're only referring to its sales, independent of the actual quality of the system, though, I can't really argue. It has not done very satisfactorily thus far.

So it's OLED screen vs increased battery life? Would any of you current vita owners make that trade off?

@camelizer: 3DS, buy Fire Emblem, A Link Between Worlds, Animal Crossing, Pokemon X and Bravely Default. Hell... just Bravely Default. You won't be disappointed.

@elpurplemonkey: I highly recommend OLED over battery life. My Vita lasts long enough as is (way longer than my 3DSXL) and the screen is honestly my favorite part of the system. It looks so nice! Would highly recommend trying to get one before they all become 2K models.

Supposedly the Vita is actually a profitable system, because of the attach rate of games per system. The whole PS4 connectivity and all the games set to come out for it are also pretty promising.

All this said however, i'd really rather play everything on my home console, so just gimme that Vita TV already.

@tehjedicake: The battery life is fine for the most part, it generally lasts for about 5 hours for me, and multiple days if put on standby. But I generally don't notice since I play it at home, so my charger is not far away.

This new Vita seems like a good idea, but I saw some comparison shots between the two, and there's just no way I'm going back to a LCD screen. I'm gonna be taking good care of my Vita from now on so I don't have to ever buy this new one lol

Hmm for whatever reason in my head I still thought the Vita was $250+, hmm well if it's $200 then yeah I might be tempted. I'm looking for excuses to buy Persona 4 Golden.. but a part of me just wants to buy more games for my PS3 (since I recently bought a bigger HDD for it). Hmmmmmm we'll see.

I mean it is a nice system, just a redundant one I would personally never buy.

@auron570: If you can find a used one, they usually go for about $150-$170, depending on where you live. That's a lot easier to swallow than $250 for a Gravity Rush, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Persona 4 Golden, and random indie game machine.

@elpurplemonkey:

I would not trade OLED for an extra hour battery life; seeing the OLED screen in-person was the very thing which convinced me to buy a Vita, as it's really quite striking. I'm never really using it for more than a few hours a day during "heavy use," so an extra hour doesn't really matter to me.

They're both nice consoles... but since getting my 3DS in Spring 2013 and then getting a Vita in August... I've been playing my Vita way more. Fire Emblem didn't grab me (because I hated that I would get attacked by multiple enemies if I killed one, leaving a space open) and Monster Hunter didn't get me like the PSP version did. But on the Vita? Lumines, Gravity Rush, Dustforce, Hotline Miami, Persona 4 Golden, Spelunky... and all those PS Plus games?

I don't own a PS4 yet, but if you do... you're probably missing out a lot without a Vita.

Is there going to be internal memory for the slim? The main reason I don't have a Vita is because the memory cards are stupid expensive. It makes the price of the console go up exponentially.

The OLED is one of the best features of the Vita, surprised to see it replaced by an LCD.

Saves Sony a lot in production I guess.

I love my Vita. There's enough great titles out for it, and it's the best place for smaller indie games like Spelunky, Hotline Miami, Limbo and the like. The OLED screen is gorgeous, the console itself is light and convenient... It's just a fantastic gadget. I do need one of those 64 GB cards, though.

I thought the remote play was going to be great but the fact thats its missing four buttons is a pretty big deal. Using the touch pad is a real pain and I end not using it for remote play. But I dont have any connection problems when I do use it.

The Vita is basically a no-brainer for PS+ members; Hotline Miami was actually FREE for PS+ members during one week, and Gravity Rush is (permanently) included in the "Instant Game Collection," along with a ton of other fantastic games. Soul Sacrifice was also free pretty recently during the "Game of the Month" promotion. I've got a 32GB card for my Vita and it's literally full of games I downloaded at no additional cost through the PS+ program; I think I actually paid for only 2 games, and even those were more than 50% off during a PS+ sale.

Don't forget that PSP digitals (so from PSN, including full titles) and PS1 (from PSN) games are playable on this one. Grab an extra memorycard and make a Japanese account and get into Project Diva!

The Vita is actually an amazing device, and a must own for those with a PS4. Remote play doesn't get a lot of press, but it's a genuinely amazing feature and adds massive value to both systems. This was clearly Sonys plan all along and I can see the vita being a viable and well supported platform for years to come. A comment like yours is about a year out of date - the Vita hate bandwagon has long been retired.

The only thing that sounds more interesting about the new one is the longer battery life. I love my OLED screen too much to part with it. I guess the better shaped PS/start/select buttons is cool, but otherwise, it's a pretty minor improvement in terms of "form factor", it seems.

Edit: It also sucks it still has no video-out. I want Vita Quick Looks goddamnit!

@wumbo3000 It has 1GB of internal memory. Not enough to help with anything other than saves really.

Jeff has a Vita TV, so we might get lucky and see some Quick Looks of new retail games like Toukiden and Danganronpa, which were Vita TV compatible in Japan. Unfortunately, neither are games Jeff is likely to care much about.

Anyone have the PS Vita? Can you tell me if the battery life is pretty decent on it?

Yeah, it's great. The standby mode is fantastic and rarely uses that much power, so I'll typically leave it on my bedside table for days without touching it, then pick it up and it still has battery. I'm always surprised when I have to charge it because it's so rare.

I have no idea what the LCD screen will do to affect that. I would imagine the battery life would get worse but I'm sure they'll compensate for it.

I've had a vita since launch and love it, that said I'd trade up because my right trigger is off and on when it works and my sticks seem really lose now. I'd rather not open it up and try to fix it myself so I'd get the new one. Any word on any borderlands branding on that vita?

I'm not sure why, but it feels like everyone saying "The OLED is the best part of the Vita!" are just people trying to dismiss this new Vita so that they feel better about their initial purchase.

I could be wrong!
