Ooooh... that's what the V stands for. Thank you Giant Bomb!

So its like the spiritual sequal to battle raper.

ZA WARUDO!

Totally not buying the game by the way. Too much cheesecake. Might as well get Arcana Hearts or Hyperdimension Neptunia.

Alright, that bodybag suplex is pretty rad.

Oh I just want the game already , no need to convince me ^_____^

Loving pretty much all the aesthetics on these attacks. That heart-monitor blip for the dash attack was great.

I'm really not sure what to make of the art style. On the one hand, it's obviously all about sexploitation. On the other hand, it's way too cartoony to actually be hot (putting aside arguments about whether video game girls can be hot, to which I say yes). So is it ironically sexual?

Posted by Ley_Lines

does anyone else think they ended the last game timer on 69 on purpose?

Posted by BabyChooChoo

If only this game had some sort of happy go lucky, naked cat lady...yeah, every game could use one of those.

Like other games with pixelated jubblies, I just apply the "creepy old man" litmus test. If my wife or friends saw me playing it, would they immediately think that I'm a little creepy because of it? The answer for Skullgirls is a resounding yes, so I ain't buying it, despite it looking like a damn good fighting game.

Was it just me, or was the framerate a lot higher in that footage than in earlier videos? Was it just that they took the video at a higher fps, or that the game is now running at a higher fps?

Heh that was... *cue angry mob of white knights* yeah look at what they do to our videogame women!.

I'm not sure whether I should be pleased or ashamed I know what that game is...

Posted by Veektarius

@skrutop: Can't argue with that.

Posted by 014

I kinda like it, but the graphics don't look nice and sharp. They look not just like cartoons, but old cartoons. It's like watching old anime compared to new. I don't mind animated style video games, like BlazBlue, but I like it to look crisp and saturated.

just announce the release date already ¬_¬

Partial nudity is my second favorite kind.

Posted by Brendan

Ehh, not into the art style at all. The attacks are interesting, though.

Posted by LiquidPrince

I like the art style but the background and I guess the foreground are way too bland.

Posted by DukesT3

I like it.

My kind of lady.

Looks like she plays a lot like Morrigan and can run the healer aspect. Definitely a fan. Can't wait to really dig my heels into this one.

If you don't play video games because you're afraid of what people might think of you, you should stop playing video games altogether.

Most publications show their video footage at 30fps as a general rule of thumb. Skullgirls will be a 60fps game.

I wish I played fighting games, because man, this game's whole steez is DOPE.

I love sex in my videogames! I love fighting in my videogames!

I hope everyone made something nice for their lovers.

That level 3 is the coolest most fanciest super I've seen in this game so far.

Posted by Make_Me_Mad

I feel like the music quality needs to be mentioned here. Every trailer so far has had some fantastic music.

Posted by Encephalon

Wow, this looks bananas. If I was at all into fighting games, I'd be all over this.

Posted by Humanity

Art style whatever, I just think the animations are lacking way too many frames. This is supposed to be a fighting game and it's way too common to see characters floating in a freeze frame through an attack. Maybe if it was a 3D fighter that would look interesting but as a sprite based game it just looks lazy.

Music and art style are both godlike. This game is looking solid.

wait V is for Valentines? suddenly I'm not so interested.

Posted by Krystal_Sackful

@014:

Old anime is the only good anime.

Posted by Gunder

Looks like a competent fighting game. Pity the art is so off-putting.

Posted by BisonHero

I remember when they first showed off this game, and all the characters attacked with their hair. So now that's just some of the characters?

Haha, true. I'm pretty sure that buying this game automatically puts you on a "potential sex-offender" list. But it's less creepy than 80% of the anime I've ever heard of.

The artstyle is fantastic, the animation is fantastic, the moves are fantastic. This game is shaping up to be rather interesting, I have to say. Sexy ladies or not.

PLEASE MIKE Z I feel like this is the mine-craft of fighting games. Every week is him streaming fights with his buddies and saucy trailers. I heard about this Game at NEC 2010 I think. Please mike Take my money now, patch it later Capcom style.

Posted by PoisonJam7

Although I don't like fighting games very much, I have been looking forward to this game for a while. It's just so good looking! This is a game that is made by people who are passionate about what they do, and it shows; it's all in the little details, and the unwillingness to compromise on those details.

I look forward to this game's release.

Thing about Skullgirls is that it's got an extremely robust tutorial mode, specifically for people who don't play fighting games to learn, practice, and understand the fighting game terminology(I.E. what "launcher" means). So even if you don't play fighting games, this game will teach you how in a far more elaborate and thorough way than any other fighting game before. That's one of the biggest draws of the game, is that it's accessible to everyone.

I don't think that makes it accessible, I think that makes it easier to learn. It's still going to be a lose fest 95% of the time for anyone like me, which is why I'm not going to play it even though it looks great, regardless of good training. Play constantly or get left behind and I just can't take one competitive game seriously enough to play it 20+ hours a week. Local play would be different.

I'm finding it hilarious that like a year later people are still  "OMG THIS ART, BOOBS?!" freaking out.

What? Lacking frames? Stop judging from a cut and go minute trailer and actually look into something you want to condemn someone on first. I know, this is the internet, but people could atleast try. Lazy animation and frames are the last things that will be wrong with this game.

Looking forward to this game. It'd be nice to see a smaller dev find sucess in this genre.

I don't know if this has been pointed out in prior videos, but...

Look at the background in the part that starts at about 0:17. Do you see what I see?

@Vortextk: I have googled it. I've seen many different videos for this game. The animations are definitely not very smooth and seem to be lacking a lot of frames. This might be the "style" they are going for maybe. Darkstalkers, while way older has arguably better animations. This is my opinion of course so you are welcome to disagree. Although in the future it would be nice if you didn't outright assume things, and refer to others in a holier than thou condescending manner. I mean I know it's the internet and everything, but at least try to be a little civil.
