Not only does it look technically impressive but fuck does it have some great art direction. For such a 'dark' themed game there is a ton of color in the world.

The environments look nice, but those character models still look previous-genny. The hair especially. I'm hoping that flat ribbons stop rearing their ugly heads in the years to come.

I CANNOT wait for this game! And the stickers that come with it! (Not kidding).

Could this be the first The Witcher game I actually finish? Either way, it sure looks purdy.

Holy shit that looks amazing. I put the combat on Witcher 2 below the Dark Souls 1 combat, but it was still very satisfying as any encounter could have meant your death if you weren't careful and didn't prepare yourself. In terms of looks and story it blew everything else away.

GOTY confirmed unless Beast Souls also comes out in 2015.

I played through all of Witcher 2 and I can't remember a damn thing about it, but it doesn't stop me from wanting to check this out any less.

That was impressive, my only gripe is his clothing... looks too smooth and tight light spandex. Hey some people are into that, which is why character customisation is so important.

I don't trust this trailer. If Witcher 3 is anything like Witcher 2, I'll lose interest in about 5 hours and never come back to it. It's hard for me to get into an RPG when you can't stand the player character and have no control over his defective personality.

Looks amazing. I've never played The Witcher 1, and I've only played a little bit of The Witcher 2. Maybe they'll be my summer games this year.

I missed the first two Witcher games, and I don't have the platforms for going back to them (I think.) Is it needed to have played the others to enjoy this one, probably?

You need a PC for the first one, and a PC or 360 for the second one.

It will probably help to have played the previous 2 however the second game established itself just fine without playing the first so I would expect you would be fine starting with 3.

uh so i guess im buying the witcher? That was a PRE E3 trailer? I just don't understand the world im living in right now.... this has to mean a very nice playable gameplay demo at one of the conferences.

Oh, AAAND please please please bring back the more 'out there' fantasy from the witcher 1. The vodyanoy, the lady of the lake, the druids, the griggs, the werewolf guard captain ...

I like murk and grit as much as the next guy, but in terms of peoples and characters, The Witcher 1 was simply way more interesting and fun than 2.

Three pages of comments behind me, all wide-eyed and disbelieving. CD Project Red, you've outdone yourselves.

There isn't a single game that I'm more excited about. Fuck me, I'd even put this over MGS V at this point, and that's bordering on blasphemy for me.

Now, I reckon the alchemy will be rather similar to the last game, and the magic system as well. Both of those have changed rather little over the course of the series, the real question is what the combat will be like. It seems incredibly smooth and contextual, and I wonder if that means they've taken inspiration from Batman combat in that the animations change depending on your enemy's location, and maybe even type. There was some of that in the last game, but definitely not to the same degree they're showing here. I'm just asking myself how they're pulling that off with Souls' inspired combat at it's core.

Really can't wait to see this in action.

@clush: While I think that the main story-line is going to be as grimdark as dark gets, the game is supposed to be 3 times the size of Skyrim and have over 100 hours gameplay. So I think it's fairly certain that they're going to squeeze some of that stuff in at least. Geralt goes to some places in the books that we know he'll revisit in this game that should fit right in with what you're looking for.

Man... I just finished the 3rd translated book (Time of Contempt) and really enjoyed it. I wish the others were officially translated so I could read through those before this game is out.

Call off E3 because I don't think it's getting any better than that.

Guess February 24th will be the latest that I'll be getting a PS4. Might get one before then. I'll have to see how E3 shapes up for sony.

Might be the only game I'm truly excited to play this year.

The uber-sampling option was a ridiculous resource hog, but even with that off the game looked (and still does today) freakin fantastic. This is by and far away the best looking game I think I've seen videos for. Dragon Age Inquisition looks awesome on Frostbite 3 but this new engine CDPR has is just god damn amazing. I just hope it holds up well on the optimization end of things.

These bloody bits of mind on the wall behind me are not going to clean off easily...
