The Witcher 3 Looking Completely Worth the Wait

I'm finally getting deep into The Witcher 2. And boy, I'm even more excited for this now.

This just might be my favorite trailer of all time; just take my money already dammit.

The lack of black & white moral options (and characters) is what makes these games so fucking great. I had a ton of fun with 2's combat system, unlike 1's, so I'm definitely excited for what looks to be more of that.

I need to get more of the books, I've only read The Last Wish so far.

EDIT: Also, I'm buying this thing on gog. Cash goes to the devs and they deserve as big a cut as they can get considering their gigantic free updates (which is still a weird thing to praise companies for) and lack of DRM.

i havent pre-ordered a game in a long time, and its been even longer since i got a collectors edition. i just pre-ordered the collectors edition. i finally finished 2 this week and it was fantastic. sure it took me a few tries to actually finish for various reasons (lost saves, corrupt installs ect.) but goddamn i loved it. i havent been this excited for a game in years probably since skyrim! (the last game i pre-ordered, although i didnt get the collectors edition of that.) 02-24-2015 cant get here fast enough

I've only played Witcher 2, and don't remember the lore specifics on armors, but that theory would be in line with the lore of the books, I think. In the books at least (I've read the first four) I don't remember there being much talk about Geralt's armor at all. He might be wearing leather armor of some sort or whatever, but what Sapkowski really drives home is that Geralt is an insanely good swordsman, and has only lost in single combat to one person, a mage who was way beyond Geralt's skill and power levels. Although Geralt later kicked his ass too, he had help then.

Geralt has beaten multiple opponents on several occasions, including highly skilled assassins, seemingly with only moderate effort. The books describe him as being lighting fast and very agile, up to the point of moving in fights with what I guess could be described as the grace of a ballet dancer. Witchers have supernatural "mutations" to begin with, further enhanced by elixirs. Genetically, Geralt is an exception even among witchers. With monsters, armor wouldn't necessarily help, and with humans, it would be unnecessary in most situations.

That, or it's just his style of fighting, whatever.

I'd rather buy it straight from GOG instead of Steam for following reasons:

1) No DRM.

2) Lower price (+ discount if you own previous titles, doesn't have to be bought from GOG)

3) GOG store is owned by CD Projekt RED, money goes straight to the developer.

4) More content. Aside from the usual stuff (soundtrack, artbook, comic), they are already giving you Neverwinter Nights with all expansions and store credit if your regional price is higher than in the US. Rest of the bonus content will be announced as we get closer to the release.

This will be the game of the generation for me.

I should REALLY play The Witcher 2. Thought the first game was sort of great, yet have somehow failed to play this second one.

Of course, either way I'm going to need to upgrade this computer of mine.

@scotto: Keep in mind that your old saves depending of where you are at that point in the game don't actually work in EE so you'd have to start from scratch.

Yeah, just play through it to refresh and most of the very noticeable changes are actually via the new difficulty they added that has bonus armor sets (Dark Mode) and the last act. There's a quest line there that wasn't in the vanilla edition plus there's "stuff" they add in the epilogue as well that wasn't in the vanilla version depending on your choices (the event is kinda fucked up with how its depicted). There's also a post-credits stinger which pretty much sets up the stuff already shown in the trailers for the third game.

The previous games explained that Witchers wear lighter armor because full battle plate is useless against monsters. A blow from a big monster is better avoided with the speed and agility light armors allow. Even against packs of smaller monsters, you need to be quick to avoid being dogpiled and overwhelmed.

Sweet Jesus, this game looks fucking incredible. Does anything even come close to this in terms of visuals? The Division, maybe. I'm pumped!

@gaspower: Yeah, I never played the Enhanced Edition. Guess maybe I should make a note of going back and playing it through again with the EE stuff, before W3 comes out.

Never did get into The Witcher, but damn this is looking real good, kind of interested in reading the books now.

Great looking game in the trailer. Did it really need to end on a shot of a bird going through a dude's head? Come on, video games. Grow up.

Sure this looks nice, but I can never forgive them for the hideous 3D model of Boussy in Witcher 2.

And yet I feel compelled to plan a PC upgrade for the release of Witcher 3; it's perfect since it's on my birthday!

Looks freaking awesome. Definitely need to get me one of the new consoles before this gets released. They should change the title to Witchin', you know the sequel to Skitchin'. Fucking dudes up and just plain fucking bitches. Such is the life of the Witcher.

I think that's actually the thing that made this trailer stand-out for me as well. Too bad only a few developers manage to pick music as great as this for their trailers. For me personally the last ones were probably GTA V ones...

The Witcher games just keep getting better. I guess it's a little early to say that, but I trust CD Projekt RED to do it again.

This trailer is the graphical upgrade I've been looking for since the next-gen started being focused on by developers. I'll be getting it for PC. Might need a new video card.
