So franchising MOBA's are a thing now? Is there a McDonald's or Burger King equivalent?

Posted by FeverChill

Please...please just stop this...

Posted by flasaltine

Looks like a waste of time. For the consumers and the developers.

So is this a WOBA?

Edited by RioStarwind

I was fine with Witcher the card/board game but also making a MOBA is one step to far for me. At this rate it seems like they are trying to expand the Witcher brand a bit to fast.

Posted by Sidfiou

You can't blame CD Projekt RED for trying everything they can to get this franchise mainstream attention.

...Okay, maybe a little.

Edited by Counterclockwork87

It just seems so silly with all these MOBAs I agree. It's not a genre like third-person shooter that can kind of be anything, MOBAs have VERY strict rule sets (almost like a sport) so there's not very much of a reason why there should be a lot of them...DOTA and league kind of have it covered. There's a reason why there's only the NFL, Arena league football, and basically nothing else in America when it comes to football.

Oh . . . oh lawdy!! It looks so generic and bad. Sluggishness, muddy, trite, and simply poor are the words that come time mind looking at this.

I hope so.

I think I'm the only one excited to play as The Operator. Fuck that guy.

Edited by Yabbering_Yeti

This looks balls. I love The Witcher, I freak'n love it... but this doesn't look like its either for me OR MOBA fans.

It's a smart idea, getting the massive MOBA community to pay attention to The Witcher - if only for the massive player base - but they aren't leaving LoL or Dota2 for this.

Android only :( ...so this is what it feels like

You're forgetting this gem.

Basic fact-checking ... like a 30 second visit to their website ... would show that this is not a moba.

Edited by wh1terav3n

Based on the end of the trailer, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone

Edit: The beta is android only apparently. Likely because of their lax sideloading rules.

From the press release in my inbox today:

“We are extremely passionate about games, whether they be for PC, console or mobile devices. The Witcher Battle Arena is our take on the MOBA genre and we are really excited at the prospect of sharing it with the gaming community! We highly value fans of The Witcher, and their opinions have always been paramount in helping us develop a great gaming experience--The Witcher Battle Arena is no exception! Sign up for the soon-to-commence closed beta now and, once you’ve had a chance to play around with it, share your thoughts - we’re really eager to hear what you have to say!”

I also like that a 30 second trip to there website and the first paragraph I'm greeted with is.

"The Witcher Battle Arena is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game in which players take control of iconic and powerful characters from the Witcher universe."

Now this is just sad.

Posted by Psychohead

All that and no Geralt or Triss or, hell, I dunno... Dandelion? I mean, yay Zoltan and everything, but... kiiiinda feel likes someone's missin' here.

Posted by Pachydermic

This looks pretty dumb... at least it looks like someone else is developing it.

Posted by DeadpanCakes

Wait........................seriously?

Posted by Giantstalker

This is a joke right? This has to be a joke. Please tell me, it is a joke.

I'm laughing at this!

Edited by RonGalaxy

Hey guys, what if the witcher 3 gets delayed and then we dont hear anything about it for the next 7 years? What Im saying is CD Projekt RED is now Valve

Posted by thefriend

Come on CDP.... you're so above this crap!

Posted by Rowr

Bah whatever, made on the cheap as a low cost console downloadable by the looks of it. This is basically just an advertisement for the franchise so people have more recognition for the Witcher 3 release.

Posted by SpaceCouncil

when does the bioshock MOBA come out?

Edited by veganarking

I think this might be a joke.

Posted by KenpachiRamaSama

What?

Why?

Posted by courage_wolf

Oh look, another MOBA for people to ignore. Attempting to cash in on the League and Dota money is a fool's errand, nothing a MOBA ever does will convince those communities to adopt another game.

Ouch, burned hard. Sometimes being a dick doesn't pay off!

Next up...Surprise! The Witcher 3 is a 4V1 co-op game!

You joke, but that would be kinda awesome.

"Ronald McDonald mid no gank gg noob puta"
"Grimace carry new meta lolol"

"Wtf why would you buy Happy Meal on Hamburgler? GG fucking noob learn to play"

Well then this is one weird looking racing game.

Posted by ripelivejam

Clearly this doesn't have nearly enough of the goods to topple the reigning moba champ, SMiTE

#playsmite #itsfreeyouknow #buynewegg

Posted by TheSouthernDandy

I don't know why you guys are so down on this. Remember how popular WoW was and how those companies made MMO's to try to capitalize on that success and how it totally worked? Remember that guys?

...guys?

Posted by Viking_Funeral

Apparently it's an android, going by the review quotes.

Meh? I really like the Witcher, but this feels like even more of a shoe-in that the Lord of the Rings MOBA. What a weird fit. I guess they're hoping for name recognition.

And where the fuck is the Pokémon MOBA? If anything was designed for MOBAs, it was that franchise.

"It's really good!" - SiteYouNeverHeardOfBefore.com

oh SiteYouNeverHeardOfBefore.com! They are usually pretty solid with their reviews.

Posted by Wiseblood

So can Saskia turn into a dragon? I think that would be pretty OP.

Posted by audioBusting

Is this going to be a thing now? Taking your beloved franchise to first make a card game, and then a MOBA? This can't be a coincidence, right?

Edited by Dryker

Hey, whatever gives them more money to make mainline Witcher games, I'm all for.

Posted by John1912

Looks pretty middling, but I do love a good MoBA! So wait and see I guess.

Posted by prencher

Oh boy, another mobile moba.
