@cybertification: that's a little unfair, don't you think? Thief never looked any good in screenshots due to the shadows, so I can certainly understand jazzing it up for a trailer. I'm hopeful for this one.

WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB *stealth* WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB.

The trailer is a little subdued. I almost want to call it boring. But I really digged dishonored and I hope this can follow in its footsteps.

Anyone remember how the old EIDOS Games (Thief, Tombraider) would come in a triangular PC box? those were the days.

LOL! F***ing Pre-order DLC bs. "The Bank Heist"... Yeah, um, I'll just play the game, and call every mission a "Heist."

The REAL question is: is it a HEIST or a CAPER?? Hmmm???

I know Patrick's been doubtful, but I'm getting pretty excited about this game. But that lockpicking mini-game...ugh. So many games and they all have the same lockpicking mini-game. I'm tired of doing it. I wish somebody could come up with another way of doing it (or just get rid of it, that would be fine to).

@chernobylcow: Don't you think that should be the other way round? Dishonoured followed in Thief's footsteps, and now Thief is following in it's own. Let's see if it can beat itself?

I always have an issue with a beloved franchise that is no longer being headed by its original team.

That said, this game looks pretty cool, but it will be a long stretch to think the developers are going to "honor" the original "Thief" quirks. The voices and distinctive sound design are among the details that endeared fans to the originals. Of course "Expert Mode" was the ONLY way to play the originals. There is no buzz about this game at ttlg.com which I thought there would be. Maybe we will hear from some ex-Looking Glass folks as this gets closer to release.

It's good to maintain a healthy level of cynicism with this stuff.

I really, REALLY want this game to be good, but everything I've heard about its development and the way it's demoed has led me to believe it will be mediocre at best. That said, I'll probably want to play it, even day one, because these kinds of games are few and far between, and I'm a huge fan of them. Even still, I'm not expecting a great game.

@efesell: Out of curiosity, what is your take on Mark of the Ninja as a stealth game? Because the mechanics are pretty much 100% in sync with the original thief titles.
