Things Are Looking Rough in PlanetSide 2

PlanetSide 2 isn't really for me.

That was one hell of a trailer, I must admit...

I'm sort of excited, i think the beta starts on monday. I didn't have a key so oh well. Still really worried about the free-to-play model

It should have cut to him respawning in the spawntubes after being stabbed.

I love the premise of Planetside.. but I just don't think I'll be playing.

Wow, hopefully the game will be that good.

Planetside 1 was fun up to a point and that was a really awesome trailer. I played as Vanu and I was just as sneaky as those doods in the trailer - hacking CC's right in front of people guarding them by clipping my hack tool into the podium.

wow, and all that without ever reloading his weapon. Well, at least his Jetpack ran out of fuel.

It's nowhere near to what was shown in this CG trailer.

Is there any truth to being able to clamber along the side of large ships because that would be freaking awesome. Or can you at least land on top of them etc?

I remember one of the devs saying that it's possible to jetpack on top of a galaxy and shoot the pilot to take it down.

I saw the Strumgrenadier outfit do several well coordinated Gal drops. Those cats could roll. Also, the Gal is now the mobile spawn unit, so instead of just having everyone bail (pilot included), it's better to drop your passengers and then actually find a good landing zone. They're tweaking the Galaxy to make it like an OP for the offensive force once it's landed, basically.

If 90% of your squad doesn't die then it's not a 'proper' Gal drop.

Also Vanu kicked butt and had some pretty sweet armor. In the trailer it looks like Vanu is recruiting hot chicks into their forces so I'm all for it!

Stealth knife, instant death.

I really wish this was actual game-play footage.

Would be pretty awesome if they had dynamic drawn out death scenes with flashbacks to the victim's childhood and civilian life - the last time he spoke to his wife, reassuring her he'll come back home after the assignment, him grasping for a photograph of her, heavy breathing and the heartbeat getting weaker, fade out to black .. and BAM - RESPAWN.

All the gameplay footage of this game looks amazing. This is the real REAL Battlefield game DICE failed to give us.

I don't understand the hate for CGI trailers, they can be fun. Maybe this doesn't tell anything about the game, it's still a gorgeous piece of media. Short movie if you will. There is SO MUCH gameplay of this game already on the internet, why would you even need more?

Maybe you didn't watch to the end? The whole point was that that dude was awesome, but he is still just one guy and there are thousands of enemies coming in.

Yeah, only console players enjoy CGI trailers/cutscenes. Brilliant observation there, idiot.

Honestly the only thing this trailer needed was, as the Vanu forces closed in all tightly-packed, a red beam with spiralling white energy pierces the clouds right in the middle of them, completing the cycle of each faction fucking each other over.

Certainly the most interesting shooter that is on the horizon so far.

I was broke when Planetside came out, otherwise I would have played it longer - It was a ton of fun playing a stealth hacker, stealing bases out from under people.

I've been having a lot of fun with this one. It feels like such a leap above all of the competition. The graphical fidelity combined with the scope of the game with the amount of players and shit happening on screen all at once with no noticeable lag is simply mind-boggling.

Forget Planetside 2! I wanna play the game shown on the trailer! That, and I'm totally using the stealth faction.

And I thought the death animation from BF3 was bad.
