This might be my most anticipated game of the year. Still looking really distinctive at the very least

Hold on, I need to squeal like a young female child.

Okay, I'm ready to watch this now...

It must be an allergy to fun and awesome things. Only logical thing I can think of.

This looks a bit like Bioshock Infinite...

Posted by weegieanawrench

There are some big names for the voice talent. And yeah, this game is looking real cool. Real excited to get my hands on this.

October can't come fast enough! Hope there are more developer diaries.

Drink a shot every time Viktor says industrial.

the premise doesnt really grab me. but i might pick this up because its not a sequel to something.

Posted by BBQBram

Now that's art direction! Whenever I see something like this or, for instance, the Irrational guys talking about Infinite, I realize what a breath of fresh air it is and how utterly generic most games have become. I was planning on picking up RE6 because of a lingering loyalty to the franchise (I guess), but fuck that. Dishonored is where it's at. Doesn't hurt that I really loved Human Revolution and Bioshock, and that I like all of the voice talents they showed. Good on 'em!

Still really skeptical about this. Not quite sure what's causing it though. Maybe it's just the first person stealth action that's never really clicked with me.

The use of whale oil is pretty clever.

Looks interesting, I might have to pick this up. However, I am not quite sure yet. i need to know more about this game.

I agree completely! It's awesome to see art direction that isn't based on the same tired tropes/inspirations that most games seem to be drawn from. Looking through a lot of concept art inspires a strong sense of deja vu... as if no one looks at anything except CoD, Doom, and WoW.

I was looking forward to Brink for the art direction... but, uh, no amount of art directing could have saved that game.

Man, I love the way this game looks and am really trying to keep my excitement in check. If the gameplay is tight and the story good this could be sweeeeeeeet.

Also love Brad Dourif.

#please be good

i'm adoring the art direction and attention to detail, and while steampunk isn't exactly a unique setting they do enough to give it individuality and its own flair. this feels like a world you can get lost in, and i love that.

Have you noticed an aversion to joy? Intense throbbing pain due to laughter? A deep loathing for all things that bring enjoyment? You may be suffering from Acute Fun Deficit Disorder and should see a practitioner of fungineering as soon as possible!

Beautiful style and design all-around. I can't wait to explore the city of Dunwall.

Next purchase for sure, less than a month away...

I really like the video; it's always nice to see developers exposing their design process. Still not sure how interested I am in the game, though. Don't get me wrong, it looks like it could be phenomenal, I just don't know if it fits my tastes. Just have to wait and see.

Posted by ztiworoh

Damn, even if the gameplay is only decent, the care and thought going into the worldbuilding aspects make this a day 1 purchase for me. This is why I play games.

Uhg the French language is so awful. Also does anyone else think the in game graphics are really not that great? Ever heard of anti-aliasing?

This is either going to be amazing or terrible. No in-between...

ive been excited about this game for a long time. all the media jumps amps me up more and more. gimme this day 1 please.

Posted by whitespider

I get what people are getting at when they say, "It's either going to be great or terrible", it's because so much is on the line.

Great things, like the art design. Will remain regardless of the game playing terribly. It won't be a terrible game as a result. Rather a fractured experience. Like a lot of other games out there. It does not have to gravitate to polar extremes. Most wildly inconsistent things are middleground. It's the things with no variance, like a game that has no redeeming features, bad design, bad music, bad gameplay, etc - that is truly a terrible game.

Being a longtime fan of deus ex (the original), it's hard not to think of this as the -excuse the developer pun- 'next messiah' of this style of game. And because there are so many moving parts in this game, having a few be 'less than perfect' won't detract from the game's overall greatness, so long as it does have 'options' and there is payoff for using them. Deus ex, even back in 1999. Was a compilation of janky systems. And it's one of the greatest first person thinkers ever made, to this day.

That's part of the reason why I like skyrim, the game has flaws left, right, and centre. It's just got 'more' cogs, more interesting parts, more self communication allowing for a nearly transparent dynamism that you rarely see in the more polished products. Newness, innovation, is not something you can just quantify with a single thing. It's a feeling.

Personally, this is looking just as promising, if not more promising than bioshock infinite, and prey 2 (if that's even a thing anymore).

Wow. I'm fucking loving their universe. It's amazing! It's so comprehensive and hits all the right notes! Holy shit! What a good video. The Whaling boats are really cool. The Wolfhounds are really cool. Everything is really really cool.

Sleeper hit of 2012 right here.

Edited by Funky_Pasta_Tommy

I love behind the scene videos like this, because they treat me as a respectable adult interested in their product, not a immature teenage something that wants to hear how awesome their game is and how it's going to be the best thing ever.

I really wish more games would do something like this and really nail the respectable approach. It makes me far more interested in a game when the team is describing why they are making the game the way they are, not when it feels like some bro's bragging about how awesome they and their team are and how much we NEED their game.

Pride in one's product is one thing, but so many behind the scene videos are just arrogant advertisements for a game.

Also, Brad Dourif is awesome.
