Why

I can't wait for this game! ;D

Still thinking about this game. Might pick it up, or I might not.

Edited by AngriGhandi

Dammit Tomb Raider, I'm tired of waiting!

Just come out already so everyone can figure out if you're bad or not.

Posted by PARK_thirteen

I still don't know how I feel about this.

Posted by bombedyermom

I got a bad feeling about this game.

Posted by Creamypies

So pumped for this. Why is it that bows look and feel way more awesome to use than most conventional guns?

Posted by BeefyGrandmole

Man i wonder if this game will be any good.

Posted by SmokePants

Well that was violent.

THIS YEAR'S GOTY NEEDS TO HAVE A YEAR OF THE BOW CATEGORY

Posted by GnaTSoL

I will buy this game because it will be awesome and Lara is looking damn fine in this game.

Edited by Coleslaw893

I really, really hope this turns out good.

Posted by Orange_Pork

I am going to protect the fuck out of Lara in this game. Also any game that lets me shoot a dude in the leg and then run up and do a melee kill like Resident Evil Mercenaries is an instant buy.

Posted by madmax0412

Looks really good to me. I'll definitely be playing this on the pc. This game has been in development so long that I think for me the pc will be the best option. The graphics in this video are starting to look a bit dated.

H/T to Kleppeck:

It's cool to see female protagonists in games. And yes, Lara, has been around for a while but it's good that she'll be back. Looking forward to this and "Remember Me".

Glad to know "seasoned adventurer" has changed in meaning from solve puzzles and traverse complicated landscapes to "shoot a whole bunch of guys."

Tomb Creed: sisterhood

Edited by Jack_Lafayette

Wait... they're trying to make killing a person an emotionally resonant thing and a difficult hurdle in this game, right? If so, then how come I saw bonus XP for a headshot in the first minute of this video?

Posted by Iainzor

Looks like a third-person version of FarCry 3.

Posted by Humanity

Not that I have a gore fetish but when you put a pump action shotgun under someone's chin and pull the trigger I don't think just a bit of blood would spray out his nose. That aside I think everything they've shown looks excellent - except the typical heavy dood in thick armor enemy variety has me a bit worried about how intense the combat will be in latter portions of the game.

#ShootThatGuy, classic

Posted by Lazyaza

Eh looks like it'll be a fun action adventure but I can't imagine the story will be pulled off as well as they've hoped.

Posted by Flappy

This definitely looks interesting, but I'm not sure if I should bite...

Posted by CollegeGuyMike

I really hope this game is good... I need some reviews before I bite, though.

Edited by Elwoodan

I'm not saying it's the most innovative game ever, but if they are able to pull these systems off, make the combat feel good, and include a bit of puzzle-platforming (AC2/Brotherhood style) I'm more than in. I am a huge sucker for games with a bunch of 'leveling' systems and collectables.

Posted by Sackmanjones

The shooting looks to be a bit clunky, I think the aiming view has a weird look to it. It's almost like its too far to the right of Laura's shoulder. But other than that this game is looking real good, I really hope it's awesome.

Edited by Adaptor

@dark_lord_spam: First thing I noticed as well. The combat system seems pretty cool and I guess a scoring system goes well with it but the XP pop-ups just seem to detract from the whole survival feel they're trying so hard to create. Might be a better fit for a seperate highscore challenge gamemode or something.

Posted by SmokePants

Wait a minute. The same Lara that weeps over killing a deer also routinely splits skulls with a climbing pick? Tonal inconsistencies detected. Killing machine Nathan Drake has nothing on Lare the Destroyer.

Posted by haggis

First things first: this looks to be a fun game, and I'll play it.

But ... why so much combat? Why can't combat be incidental? Why can't the gameplay revolve around survival against natural obstacles, and keep the combat primarily to wildlife? Why must Lara kill dozens and dozens of people? Other games do that fine. It's a complete screw up with the tone. She's supposed to be struggling for survival, but she's slaughtering people left and right. It just doesn't compute. If you're going to have death and killing be thematically relevant, it can't be happening all the time. If they'd kept it to just a few moments where she had to choose to kill other people, then it would have more impact.

Tomb Raider is best when it's about explorations and puzzles and surviving against the elements. Not when it's all about killing some rogue army.

The reason why I hate storys about helpless charactures in third person games, especialy third person games with crafting, is that It makes no sence. How am I going to go from one emotional extreme, feeling sad shooting a dear, shooting guys in the face, who all probably just wanted to get off that fucking island.

If the story arch is that they turn her into a monster, and at the end of the game, she is addicted to adventure, and dosent care how many people die in her wake, then im all for it.

But thats probably not it. They probably just needed to hit the bullet points that every game needs this year. Shooter, Crafting, Levels, and Emotinal gritty reboot.

I don't know what I fully think of this game yet, but it is really scratching my survival game itch. I realize that the games brutality has received criticism, but I do think it contributes to that hostile environment they're going for.

Posted by m3ds334

@haggis: Also, I agree with everything you just said, and now I'm kinda bummed out.

It's pretty obvious they're try to encourage Uncharted-fans to buy this game through trailers like this, so obviously they're going to focus on the more actiony parts of the game. Hopefully it's more than that, because as you said, it does look like a fun game to play.

Looks a little boring. Like Uncharted without the comedy.

Definitely still taking the wait and see approach with this game.

Posted by KlUMZeE

Look really cool, I hope it turns out well

Posted by WickedFather

Lara does this, Lara does that. Do you ever get to play the game or just watch her go about her homocidal doings?

Does Lara call Lara Lara in her internal monologue?

Posted by MindChamber

nice one more of these dev diaries and I wont have to play the game.

Edited by WeaponBoy

Seasoned adventurer or PTSD-stricken mass murderer? I mean, holy fucking shit.

Posted by Hef

One day henchmen will learn to stop leaving red explosive barrels scattered all over the place. One day.

Posted by pakattak

WAY too much killing holy crap!

I thought Lara Croft raided tombs, not mercilessly slaughter soldiers.

Edited by Demoskinos

You forgot the #Sexism tag.

Posted by sixpin

People freaking out because of too much combat in a trailer about the combat system.

Posted by chilipeppersman

@sixpin: that was the one thing that all the prior games lacked....good combat. IMHO thats why they are focusing on it, they have to bring in new players right? its gotta sell at the end of the day.

Posted by RedRavN

I think this game looks pretty cool. The combat was really off putting in the previous games but this looks really visceral and fun. It looks like all the traversal elements are all there but it seems a bit more of an action game this time around. I always liked the exploration and puzzle elements of the previous games and I'm hoping that there are some slower paced sections of the game to balance out the adrenaline fueled action.

Basically this game seems kind of like uncharted and might alienate hardcore tomb raider fans but might bring in a new audience. Also, on the pc there is not much like this so it might be a well recieved by that audience who maybe missed out on uncharted.

This is looking so fantastic. This and Last of Us are my current most anticipated games of the year.

Posted by Chrono_Defying_Ninja

Tomb Raider (2013) starting to look really good. Can't wait till its out and get some real feedback on it. Mechanics look and sound excellent already. Playing my way through the series again at present. Now it's not if but when and what platform or platforms, I get this for.

Tomb Raider for GOTY Edition, Yeah.

Edited by Pixeldemon

It's been scientifically proven that once you kill a deer, you might as well just kill everything.

Posted by guiseppe

This video was focused on combat, so of course there will be a bunch of images depicting combat. That doesn't mean that the entire game will be Lara Croft: Modern Warfare.

Posted by frozensquozen

The brutality of this is really putting me off. This isn't the Lara I grew up with.
