Titanfall Seems About as Good a Game as Any to Close Out the Year in Video Game Trailers

Here you may learn about the sleek, agile Stryder class. I stick to slow, lumbering death machines myself, but maybe you'll dig this.

This runs on Source. Incredible.

It doesn't look that incredible graphically, but it looks fun as fuck.

Like Valve Source? Wild. Pretty amazing that it is still in use 10 years after HL2.

I think I'm starting to love these corporate commercial trailers.

No matter how many trailers I watch, this still looks like the last fart of the dying corpse that is the innovative fps genre.

Remember these are former Infinity Ward guys. Who made kick-ass FPS's with bits of code from id tech 3

@hi_im_rob: Only parts of the netcode. Carmack is the only guy who has gotten that right.

Looks alright. I'm right in the middle. Some people (the ones that have played it) seem to think it's going to be great. Others say it looks like shit. I'm interested, but I'm not creaming over it either.

I can't see how mechs blend with having people on foot jumping off walls and stuff. It seems like I would feel safer outside of a mech unless those fuckers are super agile. I'm willing to be persuaded. I want this to be as awesome as I'm hearing. Definitely keeping an eye on it, but I'm not excited yet.

Well... that should be enough to convince you.

Sweeeeet I love this pseudo reality stuff. Usually an indicater of quality, and miles better than dubstep/explosion/dudebro.

It's not like it's stagnating, Source is updated daily sometimes even hourly.

Nope. People like a lot of games that I don't. Again, I'm not saying it looks bad. That's why I'm torn. What I'm hearing and what I'm seeing have been clashing, which is why I'm so interested in it.

Yeah it's impressive to think about. I think that these ex-Infinity Ward devs have a good history of using older engine, the Call of Duty series still uses the Quake 3 engine.

I seriously doubt I will ever end up playing this but it looks pretty awesome.

Makes me wanna go play some TF2 right now and pretend that maybe someday I'll be awesome at online FPSs.

Looks kinda dated here but it should be fun, as long as they don't try and charge £45 on PC. Fuckers.

I'm still convinced that the 'hype' for this game is 90% manufactured by the media. I don't know of anyone who is actually looking forward to this game, yet all gaming sites act like it's the second coming. Maybe it actually will be a great game, which I hope it is, because knowing Respawn's history, Titanfall 2 will be way better (and on PS4) so I won't feel bad missing out on the first one.

As it stands right now though, this just seems like Call of Duty 2142

Jeez, I had no idea this was on Source. That's slightly nuts. Source is the only shooter engine that feels "just right" to me.

When I went to Eurogamer Expo, people were the most excited for it (after Oculus Rift) and after playing it got even more hyped. I never got to because of the fucking huge lines, but a lot of that excitement has transferred to the gaming public.

@cyrisaurus: If you dont know anyone that is looking forward to this game you either live under a rock or you have have a Memory that resets itself when you wake up everyday and you cant remember anyone you have talked to or met.

i can post my opinion too.

Knowing Respawn's history, shouldn't Titanfall 2 be some game that is just Titanfall with MOAR ROBOTS, that they just kind of shit out right before EA realizes "they've lost control" and fires/sues them all?

If you look at this in terms of parody art, they just miss the mark. The voice over guy doesn't hit the notes to sound "militant" and the visuals are too inconsistent. Sure, I sound like a whack job, but look at something like the 'BioShock infinite' VHS trailers, they have an authenticity which is believable as something you'd see on TV.

In the dawning age of games like TWD, Gone Home, Last of Us, Wolf among us et al, this looks so completely unappealing to me. I agree with previous posters that the hype for this looks completely manufactured; I suspect those that are truly excited about this are far fewer in number than we are being led to believe.

Looking at this invokes the same feeling I get when I look at anime: I can understand the appeal - I used to like it too when I was sixteen, and I don't begrudge anyone that actually does still like it - but I've long since grown out of it and much prefer things like Deadwood, Six Feet Under or The Wire now.

The industry is at last moving on, and games like this are reminiscent of those old 80's cheesy action movies. They had their place and will mostly be fondly remembered, but times have moved on.
