tropico 4 with all dlc currently on sale for $6 on steam...

Picked it up; gonna try and sink some hours into this weekend before I decide to get 5. Already looks much better than what SimCity was...

Other than some UI changes I can't see what's new in this game over 4 with the DLC they put out for that.

I'm not typically interested in these games but I really want to give this a shot. I wish there was a demo.

@viking_funeral:

Oh man, those godamn construction workers, they NEVER do what you want them to. I wish there was way to execute one of them or something to 'motivate' the others sometimes, cause they can piss me off so badly.

I love Tropico. I may even get the PS4 version if works well with a controller.

@blackspur: I tried the 360 version of Tropico 3 (i think) once just to see how it handled, and it actually works really well. There isn't a whole lot of minute detail or speed required. I mean, an RTS, sure, but Tropico (and Sim City, really) are laid back enough that playing with a controller wouldn't have any adverse effect.

@mrfluke: Alright, now you're talking crazy. How is using a voice command to change weapons better than hitting a direction on a dpad? The touchpad is also not very good, as much as I like the rest of the PS4 controller.

I spent about 20 hours in Tropico 3, and mostly enjoyed it, but the difficulty in getting the workers to build anything made me lose my interest. I wonder if it would be worth checking out now that's it's been through a few iterations. Certainly is tempting.

Still really bummed to see that there are still no roads beyond 2 lanes. For some reason that has always made my cities feel way too cramped and fake.

@mrfluke: Honest question. Why would you (or anyone) want to play an RTS, especially a city builder with a controller? Even if you have a pretty shitty PC, the experience, in my opinion would be far superior with a mouse and keyboard.

well, i see what your saying, but i just dont have a Powerful PC to run these types of games well, and im just comfortable on a controller, like tropico 3, and 4, on the 360 had a good control scheme going for it.

and this should be better/snappier since the ps4 has the touchpad and they can potentially use the ps camera to do voice commands. (tomb raider on ps4 used this to change weapons, and i found it very intuitive)

@blackspur: I wouldn't be surprised if the developers add mouse and keyboard support for the PS4 version FF14 for PS4 has it so it shouldn't be that tough to implement.. I played Tropico 3 on the 360 and i thought it was totally fine on a controller.

End of May huh.. time to sink another 60 hours into Tropico 4. Could not be more excited, this series has become my city-builder of choice, ever since SimCity 2013 was so thoroughly disappointing.
