Twitch Streaming Not Hitting Xbox One Until 2014

I remember back when everything was still being revealed people were worried about PS4 not having Twitch, since they only mentioned Ustream in February, and how that was going to give the Xbox One the edge. Never would have thought Xbox One wasn't going to have broadcasting at launch and PS4 was for both services.

Anyone know if you can sign in to your Twitch account on the Xbox One app? The video wasn't clear on that.

Looks more robust then the PS4 streaming. But they really should have pushed to get streaming out at launche. Even though the quality of the stream is kinda shitty on the PS4(and I quess it will be about the same on Xbox One) it's nice to just have it there if you ever want to use it.

Apart from just showing of a game and your skills(or lack there of)) it's also a good way to get ether quick help with a game or being called a faggot who doesn't know what the fuck he's doing.

But they neglected to mention the fact that it looks like shit. And will most likely look like shit on the Xbox One as well unless they use their triple OS thing for some magic shit(doubt it).

This isn't a big deal since the people who care about Twitch streaming are a pretty small minority but it's still pretty dumb.

Well that kind of sucks, the streaming stuff on PS4 feels like the most next-gen aspect of the system. I loved being able to view streams of games that the press had not managed to cover before the weekend, like Need for Speed Rivals and Lego Marvel Super Heroes.

Well at least the video capture stuff is there.

Give me a break dude. When there is a story that's important, they report it. None of the Sony news has been important lately/has been unsubstantiated or rumors. This is factual information that Microsoft released. It sounds really defensive when you attack someone for posting factual information...

Man, that just straight-up sucks. I'm not even mad, I just feel bad. This is a really cool feature that half of the people buying consoles are missing out on at peak season.

The only way to win this argument is to, uh, post about nothing at all. If you look through the comments sections of the last months, I've been accused of both. If you're accused of both, you're probably doing it right.

This is a newspiece because Microsoft sent out a video with it. We had news about CD, MP3, DNLA missing out of the PS4 as well as what was missing from the first retail firmware and OS setup, because those were the negative news.

We have no news about defective consoles because that's a standard, something to expect, when the sales (not counting give-aways like Microsoft) to customers broke past over a million in 24 hours you will hear a lot stories of broken things, I myself believe the DS4 rubber peeling off issues should be reported as at least a forum-piece so that we can work together as a community and get Sony information so they can track down what batch numbers are affected and issue replacements ahead of time.

Microsoft dropped several balls hard and their post-mortem step should be to admit the machine and its software were intended for a mid-late 2014 release.

Not a big deal or a deal at all. Twitch streaming should only matter for people like those at Giant Bomb and they already have equipment to stream anyway. The sharing clips is more important. I never thought the streaming thing was a good idea, just have everyone stream everything they play?

This is what happens when you have to redesign half of the OS like 4 months before launch. Just saying.

Is this even really "bad" news? It's coming eventually, it's not ready at launch. It's kind of fine, this isn't a deal breaker for me and I can't imagine anyone else interested in the Xbox One are going to be very hurt by it either.

You've put bad in quotes but no one said it was bad news. You aren't quoting anyone.

Sony needed something after the mediocre to bad reviews for their two exclusive launch titles. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean much, since it seems at the moment that Xbox One's launch titles will be a lot better than Killzone and Knack (Thank goodness for Resogun.), and most consumers will be playing and enjoying those games, not worrying about streaming on Twitchtv. Now if Microsoft still have problems with it in 2014, then that's something to pay attention to since gameplay streaming has become quite popular over the last 5 years.

The Twitch streaming on PS4 is definitely far cooler and slicker than I had anticipated, but I don't really see a short delay on this being a deal breaker.

What bad news? the 0.4% of faulty machines that is hardly news worthy considering every single electronic device has a fault rate? This is a feature that isn't going to be at launch, a feature that a LOT of people want, not MP3 playback day 1 or lack of CD support.

That's too bad. I never messed around with Twitch until I got my PS4. Its actually pretty cool to be able to throw a stream on the TV while doing stuff around the house. AngryJoe did a stream with Killzone that was pretty okay. I'm sure more people from the gaming community will start streaming their games, which could be fun to watch.

This is on the level of PS4 not having a suspend mode at launch, it has zero effect on my purchasing decisions this holiday season.

At least it still has a twitch app, cause I like watching GB streams on a big TV.

Was supposed to be - I must have hit reply instead of quote, I don't even remember which one but it was one of the people saying Patrick is biased and doesn't post bad news about the PS4 but will about the Xbox.

I'm disappointed that I can only watch PS4 streams with my PS4. It would be awesome if I could watch and follow any channel through the console. This app looks much better.

I was already expecting broadcasting from either console to look bad. You can't get a high quality without taking a performance hit, even on PC. The successful broadcasters will still be using a capture card. It's a nice feature to have regardless.

Don't get me wrong. I really like Patrick's work. But since he has make his opinion clear bout the consoles...let's be honest, he's way too biased in the way he treats news. But in any case. Didn't want to frustrate anybody. Have a good one :)

If you are not hurt by buying a console that uses the same memory speed of the Xbox 360, you are NOT going to be hurt by a mere delay.

The difference in how the two consoles approach broadcasting and viewing streams is interesting - Microsoft's Twitch functionality looks like a Twitch app in an app ecosystem while Live from Playstation is displayed front and center alongside What's New, TV & Video and Game Library.

Having a bunch of random streams at your fingertips is unexpectedly neat when you're just looking to put something on and going from off to live is much simpler than I expected on PS4. From the little I've seen, Ustream quality is a noticeable improvement over Twitch. It's not something I'm jumping into head first but I would not be surprised to see streaming capabilities grow into a defining factor of the upcoming consoles.

I think the problem however would be is if you can view the Premium streams since you can't view them in Twitch, only in the GB chat, unless you know of a work around (PLEASE SHARE IF YOU DO! :D ).

That's probably my ONLY gripe with the Premium streams is the fact that the embed of the live streams is in Flash and not in HTML5 so I can't view them on mobile.
