I'll make a man outta you!

Wooowee that trailer stank.

Posted by Hewitt

I thought FarCry 3 was Crysis 2.

"I knew you were coming, right?"

...Aye, okay.

Posted by spilledmilkfactory

Well, it worked. This looks absolutely great.

So that happened.

"It's N-Sync! I knew you were coming, right?!"

Oh, hey! An update!

Ah! An article! EVERYBODY PANIC

Posted by Nadafinga

Far Cry 2 was awesome, I have high hopes for this sequel.

Posted by dr_mantas

I remember getting bored and annoyed with Far Cry 2 after some fucking enemies respawned at the same outpost for the fiftieth time. Never finished that game.

Hope this is better.

A trailer for a trailer? Is this the biggest thing Ubisoft's got going on at E3 this year?

Edit: I guess not, that'd be Assassin's Creed III.

Typo in title or am I missing a pun? Hype->Hyped?

Posted by wrecks

I am hype.

Posted by SPARTAN3

Hum seem like theirs a lot more to this games story then I thought.

Well you could get hype, like you could get other things, like money.

Well, this trailer trailer actually kind of sucked. The game seems like it has huge potential though. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

meh not a big far cry fan

Thank you for this absolutely integral information. this entire thread was riding on your approval or disapproval of this game. seeing as this entire site revolves around you, it's easy to understand your need to be heard. great comment.

May I just say, the box art alone puts me off buying this game. I would feel oddly cheated and mislead if I had it for some reason.

Didn't even have to click on the video to know Alex posted it lol

Terrible teaser.. cant see shit... and whats with these sentences?

"The graphics will immediately astound you".... say what? Not like after i watch it Ill be impressed.. but like immediately first frame.. BAM HOLY SHIT THATS THE BEST LOOKING FRAME IVE EVER SEEN!

"I knew you were coming... right?" ... English.. do you speak it?

I liked the first 2 games.. well to be more precise.. i loved the first half of FarCry 1 (before the mutants) and second half of FarCry 2 (when I got nice toys to play with in the sandbox).... lets hop this iteration will bring those halves together :)

Edited by drowsap

@ArcLyte: just voicing my opinion im not a huge fan of far cry and the trailer for a trailer is pretty bad sorry if i offended you in any way. i did delete the post it did sound like i was trolling but I might give this game a chance

how do they already have reviews?

Posted by skunkdragon

No thanks

Posted by Bourbon_Warrior

Cool loved Far Cry 2 even with its AI and Mission Design shortcomings. I think it was the unique setting that I hadnt seen since Hugos Quest 3

Posted by believer258

The last few trailers for this game were the kinds of things that get me pumped and excited for a game. This is the kind of trailer that makes me sleepy.

Yes, we know the standard trailer quotes by now. "Best graphics EVAR!" "Astounding!" "Fantastic!" "Game of E3!". Can we get a trailer without these things for once? They don't sell jack shit to me.

Posted by BonOrbitz

Besides the name, does this game have anything to do with Far Crys 1 and 2? I've never played them and think this game is looking pretty good and wonder if could just jump right in.

Posted by Jack_Lafayette

N-Sync! Oh shit, I must be tripping balls on a war-torn tropical island again.

Posted by DrFlapjack

"Get hype"? Gross.

Posted by tourgen

just got Far Cry 2 on GOG for $10, DRM-FREE! Alright Ubisoft. You finally get some of my money. And so far it's been a really good game.

Posted by kylekrane

@bonorbitz: it appears that this is its own game. unless there is something they are waiting to reveal it looks like an independent story.

Posted by Bunny_Fire

after being shafted in the past by ubisoft's draconian DRM im not touching anything they have a hand in.. I just dont like the idea of throwing money away.

Ill just watch it on twitch or some playthough on youtube

Oh well if Cheat Codes Central says it's a winner, then I'm all in

/sarcasm

That is a less than stellar trailer, for sure. Sufficiently de-psyched now.

Typical hype trailer selling a seemingly interesting character and a somewhat unique setting with pretty foliage to dupe us into thinking it's some sort of video game heaven.

I want FC3 to be good, that would make my year, but come on, we've seen gameplay, it's a turd wrapped in silk.

Uh, no, you didn't sound like you were trolling, and that guy had no right to tell you what to post on the comment board of a trailer on the front page. This isn't a forum thread, saying "Not interested" is a totally legit comment.
Next time say whatever the hell you want in a video comment as long as it's not racist/offensive/etc...

Far Cry as a series is kind of more of a Twilight Zone sort of thing of barely interconnected yet thematically familiar installments. Far Cry 2 had nothing to do with Far Cry 1 except for the idea of being stranded in a semi-tropical wasteland with people who want to kill you, and a action/survival bent. Far Cry 3 is doing the same thing, albeit we're back to an island like in Far Cry 1, so there's that.

So yeah, no Far Cry game has had a direct sequel thus far. The series is a name and core concept alone. I mean, god's sake, Far Cry 1 had ZOMBIES in it. Far Cry 2, conversely, was as straight-faced as a WWII drama. They could have called Far Cry 2 "The Safari of Death" and it would have been pretty apt. You can't tell it's a Far Cry game except for the title and sort of maybe the way the combat works.

So yeah. You can dive into whatever Far Cry game you want and it wouldn't make a difference what comes first. I recommend Far Cry 1 and Crysis, though, since Crysis is a better spiritual successor than Far Cry 2 is. By a long shot. (And it's actually by the same developers.)

I don't think the trigens were ever dead. They're mutants, with some of the human ones having surgical, cyborg implants.

I loved Far Cry 2, and am extremely keen to get my grotty digits on this new game, but that trailer didn't have a thimbleful of the impact that the previous one did. Yeah, I know it's really just more of a specifically pointed teaser for another trailer, but it was tepid nonethess.

Plus it needed more 16-bit remix of Noisia's "Machine Gun".

Oh yeah, you're right. I meant to say "mutants". Not zombies. They're pretty similar? Right? No? (I haven't actually finished Far Cry 1 actually.)

my memories about Far Cry is all blurry now, all I remember is some monsters with claws that leaps on you like the hunters in resident evil. and no zombies...

Show me the next Rainbow Six game. Then I'll be hyped.

If they take out the glaring flaws of Far Cry 2 I will probably enjoy this.Though I still liked Far Cry 2.

I have the first two games on my Steam account, so when I wrap up Just Cause 2 I think I'll jump right into them. If they aren't direct sequels, they should take off the number and just have a subtitle (like Far Cry: The Safari of Death using your example). It's sounds like the events aren't in a sequential order in relation to each other.
