Janitor Simulator 2014

Posted by jkz

I really was hoping they'd take a look at this

Posted by glass_flame

It's good to see what this actually is, after a version of it was randomly attached to Shadow Warrior. Cute concept, at the least.

Edited by BeachThunder

I think the Shadow Warrior version was enough for me.

Edit: Shadow Warrior runs on Flying Wild Hog's own engine, not Unreal Engine.

haha best thumbnail ever

Is the framerate borked for the video or the game? I'm thinking its the video as they don't seem to be saying anything about it (And after watching the Titanfall 360 QL I think they'd be mentioning *every* little foible in a game).

This should come to PS4.

I've had the "can you fly, Bobby?" line go over so many peoples' heads. Nice to hear Brad whip it out.

More like Vinnceral Cleanup Detail. Wait...that sounds gross.

Posted by MattClassic

Played the demo off the dev's site, which is admittedly not as recent as the Early Access version (but it's free; you can find the link in the FAQ section of the game's Steam forum).

Like Vinny, I really like the concept of this. In practice, it feels about as tedious and soul-crushing as I imagine being a real space horror janitor would be.

Didn't they play this before on Unprofessional Fridays or something?

The gun shrinks bodiparts into small meatballs and melts barrels and boxes into small cones of metal

Posted by SgtSphynx

Man, they've updated this a lot since I played it last year.

Yes, they definitely did, but can't remember which UPF. It was somewhat recent though; likely within a few months.

Edited by IronSean

@jkz: They already did sometime in the Past. Maybe it was an Unprofessional Friday?

I want to join the Vinn Co. Cleaning Crew

Is it just me or does this only play in 240/360p on the youtube version?

Posted by gbrading

When there's more "game" here this could be really good.

Posted by Murdoc_

Funny idea and I think the execution for the funny idea is good enough, I just don't see it having any legs for a real game unless a ton of tuning and features were added, but even then, I can't see myself pretending to clean just because I like the concept.

Posted by AMyggen

@loktarogar: When videos are uploaded on YT, at least GB's videos, they're uploaded as 240p at first, and then quickly updated with 360p to 720p. You just have to give it a few moments. It can be watched in 720p now,

Posted by AMyggen

I really love the idea and the game as a commentary on violent video games. That said I can't really imagine it being fun to play for more than 10 minutes, at least not in its current state.

Posted by CornBREDX

Oh weird. I just watched Danny's play of this.

Ya, I played the one they released around christmas last year. I think it's a funny concept. At least the christmas one was. I don't know if it plays as well as a full game but they have it priced pretty adequately for what it is I think.

I don't know. I like dumb stuff like this.

The Vinn Co Kleaning Krew!!

and ...

I just bought the early access game..

Thanks

I believe it also gets rid of bullet holes.

I like that it's laborious, i've been following this game for awhile now and let me tell you, once you've made a map spotless it's one of the most satisfying things in gaming i've done in a long time.
Something else which helps make it worthwhile is taking a screenshot of an area before and then after.

Posted by Deckard42

I'm with Vinny, the idea here is really neat. Also, this really put me in the Christmas spirit.

had this preordered forever gald the way itys been turning out lol just dumb

I always enjoy a good kill reference to Silent Night, Deadly Night

I'm not feeling this one. It just looks it's "Tedium: The Game".

What an excellent idea!

Agreed

When/if this game comes out, I can't wait to see the wacky speedruns of cleaning up bloody messes.

Posted by Draxyle

This needs a Super Mario Sunshine water cannon.

Posted by Chicken008

Super Mario Sunshine 2.

Posted by TehPickle

Oh god it's far too early on in the year to be hearing Christmas music.

I think if there was some kind of grading system, tied to a level up or upgrading mechanic, maybe with some time leaderboards or something, this could be pretty good. Better than it would have any right to be, for sure.

Posted by clipeuh

All the time I spent watching this cleaning up game, I was getting more aware of how my time would be better spent cleaning my slightly less bloody but as messy appartment. That's a thing I guess.

Posted by Paindamnation

I was totally going to recommend this as well.

This needs a Mike Row voice pack.

At VinnCo, we believe in only the highest standards of janitorial work.

I think it could even be a moderately fun mechanic, but I doubt I could play for more than 10 minutes without getting SUPER motion sick. I had to stop watching the video after 3 or 4.

Edited by Luck702

I think I know how to make this game more "fun." After finishing the level's cleaning stage, you get to play the next guy making the mess. I'm thinking 2 and a half minutes of rocket launchers, chainsaws, and gibs everywhere.

Then back to cleaning.

Posted by ArbitraryWater

This seems like a 30-minute joke extended into an actual product that people pay money for.

Oh man, that would be so awesome! If it was just like a Dirty Jobs parody where you join the crew of a space station clean up team and get in trouble that would be great.

Posted by indure

I think this would be a great game if it was less about laboriously cleaning up messes and more about weird puzzle solving and piecing together what had happen there. But not in a linear puzzle solving format where you have to solve it to leave the level, but more like if you figure out the puzzles good for you, if not then you're just missing out on cool easter eggs and story sequences. I would love to play this if it was just a world filled with easter eggs to other violent games.

Hey now, it has a name...it's BioShock Infinite!

Edited by fetchfox

I'd love to play this with some friends. Just clean and talk shit.

Posted by ShaggE

Oh man, that Blood reference in the Shadow Warrior one made my day.

Posted by RJPelonia

This is fantastic. I would love to just kill so much time virtually cleaning.

Posted by Sinusoidal

I feel like he should be holding the mop button, not repeatedly stabbing with it... I might be wrong. Anyone know?
