@icemo: That is freakin terrifying. I've always been scared of the ocean, lakes, etc. Any kind of dark and/or deep water. No thanks to Jaws, Orca, Leviathan, The Abyss, Sphere, Piranha, Open Water, Anaconda, Lake Placid, Deep Blue Sea, Creepshow 2, Below, etc.

So now the setting is more like The Abyss or Sphere? I'm still in.

HOWEVER, I don't think this trailer accomplishes anything except ruining a possibly plot twist. Was it simply just to say, "In case you guys thought this was a space game, think again. It's under water." Why even bother? So all the "underwater stuff" fans wouldn't dismiss it as a space game? I feel like they should have just kept this to themselves. The environment of the game (where the gameplay takes place) is the same either way. What's directly outside of that doesn't really change it.

Either way I expect it to be a great game, I just feel like when it comes to horror games and that uneasy feeling of not knowing if you're safe or what's going on or what's around the corner, the "less is more" approach is the best way to go. The unknown is the key to the horror.

@patrickklepek: when you talk to Grip you should ask him if they're thinking of doing a Deep Sea sensory deprivation tie-in where they ship you a gas mask with a copy of the game.

Much closer nearby? That's just not a good sentence. Should have said "much closer to home". That'd be nice.

I'm a little confused whether or not the older footage was scrapped in favor of a different setting or if it's all been part of the plan and we just had some preconceived sci-fi notions from previous trailers. Cool with the latter, not so much the former.

Either way this is bound to be pretty kick ass.

It was always meant to be under the sea. I'll have an interview with Thomas Grip, the designer, next week about it.

I know we have Bioshock, but not nearly enough games take place in the deep ocean. I would also say that, in my opinion, the deep ocean is the most uncomfortable and indeed scariest place on this planet. I am excited for this!

Wait a minute, it says Lambda in the side of the wall in the control room. In the previous trailer it towards the end the name Pathos was written across one of the walls in the hallway. Could be taking place in two different places/stations? Either way, looks creepy as hell.

Also for the heck of it, Lambda = Half Life Logo = SOMA is Half Life 3. What a twist!

Sorry, but I like space more than I like giant bodies of water. I'm still interested in SOMA, but Space is just a better setting - it's about futuristic robots and strange artifacts, and those things just belong in space. They BELONG in space, not at the bottom of some ocean with crabs and seaweed.

Perhaps it's silly, but I can't help but be a little disappointed; the combination of bizarre machine lifeforms and the all-but total isolation and absence of natural life imposed by being in space just aligned so perfectly with my taste in science fiction and horror. No doubt it'll still be perfectly scary, I just can't get as hyped about the deep sea.

At least we still have Routine.

My guess is that you play as someone trapped in his own mind. The effects on his physical body in reality alter the state of his mind and therefor alter your surroundings. Very Bioshock Infinite. Endless possibilities.

I was hopping that this game was going to be like Echo Night Beyond, but i never really payed anyattention to it.

Echo night beyond played like silent hill, only with no combat at all, no health bar, only a ''heart beat'' i guess much like a now a day recharging jelly vision, and a lot more running from ghosts until you find the right path.

I am also hoping the twist is that the space ship is crashed under water.

@itwongo: That was my first reaction upon seeing this trailer. What was that thing called? Pressure? This might be even better than space station horror. Unless it is both of them. Frictional is run by crazy geniuses.

I really wanted to play Amnesia, but now that I've seen this I think I'll wait and play SOMA instead. I feel as though an underwater complex with sentient machines is much less cliche (and maybe much more terrifying) than a haunted manor/castle.

The machines that think they're people while being totally oblivious to the things going on around them are the still the scariest thing about this game. Forget aliens and deep ones and shit.
