seriously, ocean depths really are an untapped setting. also scary as fuck. i always wanted to play that rift game(?) they talked about on the bombcast where you walk into the water with a minimal lightsource and there's this huge creature stalking you (iirc).

Ocean is the opposite of space, but also, kinda space. And in Finnish the word "soma" means cute...but that only makes game eerier in my mind.

I almost wish they would've kept it a secret. Anyways, I'm terrified of the deep sea so this'll probably scare the bejeesus out of me.

You know what, I'm fucking bummed they revealed this in a trailer, if it isn't some kind of an Aprils Fools joke. Seems like a lot of needless work if that is the case, so I'm guessing this is a true reveal.

Deep Sea creatures, the vast open space around you, the ocean floor beneath you. I'd say the deep ocean is way more scary than space.

Fuuuuuck me.

Ocean depths remain my biggest unconquered fear (I tried scuba diving for 5 years but could never get over it for deeper dives). It's just that whole inverse of a fish-out-of-water thing that gets to me so bad.

In other words I'm down for this.

I can handle deep space horror much better than deep sea horror. This seems like a game designed for me to shit my pants.

Plus it's easier for the... things... to come up from the ocean than come down from space.

Ocean is way more scarier than space. Someone could creep in front of you and you might not notice while in space you can at least see what's in front of you.

Or maybe for the half the game you're on a spaceship, and then collide with a planet. The game then turns to underwater horror!

Anyway. Looks great!

The machines that think they're people while being totally oblivious to the things going on around them are the still the scariest thing about this game. Forget aliens and deep ones and shit.

I really wanted to play Amnesia, but now that I've seen this I think I'll wait and play SOMA instead. I feel as though an underwater complex with sentient machines is much less cliche (and maybe much more terrifying) than a haunted manor/castle.

@itwongo: That was my first reaction upon seeing this trailer. What was that thing called? Pressure? This might be even better than space station horror. Unless it is both of them. Frictional is run by crazy geniuses.

I was hopping that this game was going to be like Echo Night Beyond, but i never really payed anyattention to it.

Echo night beyond played like silent hill, only with no combat at all, no health bar, only a ''heart beat'' i guess much like a now a day recharging jelly vision, and a lot more running from ghosts until you find the right path.

I am also hoping the twist is that the space ship is crashed under water.
