Want to Watch a Lengthy Gameplay Demo of XCOM: Enemy Unknown? Of Course You Do

hurray! Also, I can't wait to play X-com again. Enough of the imitations! =)

I can't wait! pre-ordered it on steam yesterday (when the pre-order FINALLY went live)

I was looking at the Steam page trying to find some gameplay of this and there was none, so this is timely, thanks.

I think the little action cutaways might be a little too long, but then again, they might just build the tension of what your attack will accomplish.

Looks sweet. And of course Sid is a bionic.

I wonder if you could turn off the action cinematics, they seem to slow down the pace

My birthday is on September 21st, and I'm more excited for October 9th then my own birthday because it means I get to finally play this game. I think I would go something something if they pushed this game back.

If I remember right, I saw an interview where the dev said you can turn off the action cutscenes. They're only there if you want them.

This is the pimpest looking turn based strategy game I've ever seen.

i thought that ammo wasn't a thing in this, did they add it in while i was looking, or did i just miss that?

I've been on the fence since I could never really get into the original X-com (heresy, I know), but now I'm in. Looks pretty sweet.

Is it just me, or was there only one female model in this entire demo?

2K has some fantastic gameplay footage from PAX up on Twitch.tv, including a couple of matches between the lead designer and some goony-looking dude they pulled from the crowd. You should check it out if you get the chance.

2:55 in they're really doing everything in their power to channel some Mass Effect. The setting, the music and even using the word "reaper" there - what a weird little moment.

There will always be room on my shelf for another lighthearted inter-planetary romp, especially amongst the heavy collection of games that take themselves way too seriously that I've seemed to amass.

I actually replayed A Crack in Time a few weekends ago after pounding through spec ops and darkness 2, it was incredibly refreshing, IMO there aren't enough quality titles to fill that space, nor do I have confidence in many dev shops to pull it off. If Insomniac keeps making them I'm going to keep buying them. Definitely one of my favorite franchises.

I think it's great that they just use Sid Meier as a playable unit in the game like it's not weird.

Wait, it's six and a half minutes? I was expecting a 20+ minute demo, which isn't even considered lengthy by GiantBomb's standards.

Can not wait for this to come out. I've played a ton of the original and most every other turn based strategy game that could capture some part of what made it so great over the years (JA, Silent Storm are the only ones outside of the first two x-coms I've ever returned to) and this looks even cooler than what I'd imagined a Firaxis made remake/reimagining/whatever would be like. October can't come fast enough.

@CaLe: Hey there. On top of the youtube channel they have a Twitch account too and there is 3 vids for around 10h worth of Xcom (multi too) with the dev team & BL2 if you want. Just go there and scroll through the vids as there are some idle time, talks about those plus NBA 2K13 and they switch from one game to another.

Not exactly a lengthy demo, but it does look interesting.

Just pre-ordered! Looking forward to digging through it.

I played this at PAX and nearly went back through the line to do it again. Great demo and it looks/feels great.

I'm kinda proud that this has become the focus of the X-Com rebirth instead of the FPS. Way to go, people. Way to go.

Not too lengthy but does great at showing off the interface & the general gameplay which looks like a great improvement on this new x-com game. Can't wait.

You still have to reload, just don't have to carry any clips in your backpack.
