The most awesome thing about this is how accessible 3D animation is becoming for the general populace. Going to be a lot of great amateur/indie works out there.

Can't wait to dig into this.

Well this is rather impressive...to me at least, anticipating that one guy who will go on about how it's all just common stuff in other engines and programs.

Well it's sorta true, most engines do. Just that no one ever releases tools like this if they aren't making an old school RPG, a Bethesda game, or a few other cool bits.

@Draxyle: Also a LOT of shit.

But it's worth it if it means more creative accessibility. Everyone has a good story to tell, most of them just lack the ability to tell it.

I just hope my services as a professional artist don't get lost to stuff like this.

that's hot shit, i really like how it uses multiplayer to make the creative process a team effort much like the way the guys at Rooster Teeth do it for Red Vs Blue.

I was just thinking the other day back to when Steam seemed like the worst idea ever.... HAH! Valve continues to make brilliant business decisions. I spend so much more money with them or by using their services because of how easy they make it and how much they give back.

Oh I definitely agree. No matter the tools, it still takes a lot of skill, training and knowledge to make things that don't suck. I just think about how the general populace still can't figure out how to make Powerpoint not terrible.

There's always the few exceptions that I look forward to seeing though.

In addition to Steam and micro-transactions, this solidifies Valve's place as much more than a gaming company. Hollywood and the record industry have both seen a steep decline in profits...it's about time that the people started producing the content themselves.

But really, I wish I had a good enough PC to do this stuff. Oh well guess I will have to stick to 2D stuff for now.

Yeah I remember trying out Steam and Counter-Strike 1.6, I thought it was horribly implemented but look how far it went. They took advantage of the growing broadband industry and made one of the best digital services today.

Valve I love you and this is some impressive stuff. Talented individuals will no doubt make masterpieces using this. But not to be demanding but I'd also really love a new Half-Life game. That would make my world complete.

I think their masterplan is to release enough tools so they can come out and say: "Stop asking me to do HL3 do it yourselves!"

I'm excited to see what the most dedicated users of this tool can come up with. I'm sure I'll open it it up and be intimidated by the learning curve and quickly close it, personally.
