You get the license to make video games in the fantastic fantasy world of old Mickey Mouse, and you insist on making it all about paint and thinner? Essentially just taking things in and out of the environment?

That's really not an amazing vision Warren.

I agree, unfortunately. I would be very much interested in a lighthearted Mickey game, but this sounds so bland. It doesn't sound like there's a lot of choice at all.

The first game was MUCH better than the whiny, jaded, crybaby reviewers gave it credit for. Period. I would wager this game will be fun. Not a tech breakthrough. But just...fun. That's all I am looking for in a game like this.

Looks like Warren's putting a fresh coat of paint on the mechanics of the first game.

... what?

Looks awful, just like how awfully boring the first game was. What a waste of money that was.

Hoping this game turns out really well, making paint/thinner persistent choices rather than resetting environments the moment you leave them is a good step in the right direction.

The paint and thinner mechanic is very underwhelming, you are effectively toggling objects on or off and both the object and it's location is not controllable by the player at all. You see an object or the 'ghost' outline of an object (an effect on video game objects that's in many many games... most recently in borderlands 2 when you need to hand an object to someone or put something in a location etc) and the only dynamic application of 'creativity' is how it looks as you 'paint' things, but that part is all visual and has no actual impact. For instance I don't believe you can paint half of an object and have it behave as if it's real, you have to paint the whole thing for it to get it's physics turned on in the gaming environment.

I'd honestly have loved a game that looked and struck the same tone as the very early concept art for the first game that was released, that was basically the only reason the game had any appeal before it's release. These games they've done so far are just lazy, I didn't really 'love' mickey before but now because of these games I'm X amount of notches more ambivalent about Mickey.

Kinda interesting premise for a single game mechanic, half developed. Bravo.

The first games was kind of uninteresting and this 2nd games seems to rehash on the first, but I am going to wait until the games release to make a judgement.

You can destroy in any other game, Alex. I will take the opportunity to create any day of the week - converting enemies into friendlies was one of the coolest, most unique features of the first Epic Mickey.

@Lucidlife: Agreed. Reviewers seemed to expect it to be too much when all it was as I saw it was a fun throwback to the kinds of platformers that used to be on the N64 that are soo rare now a days. Yes it could have been better and more ambitious, but it was nevertheless a pretty fun game that I enjoyed playing. If this game is just more of the same then im into it.
