day 1 buy

Edited by Mordiceius

Still looks like cities are small as hell. No thanks.

DO NOT BUY SIM CITY! YOU WILL REGRET THIS!

Posted by AyKay_47

Watch a SimCity dev play a game you don't want to.

Edited by Riptide0

In the future, the cities are still perfectly sanctioned to a square.

Posted by MatthewSerious

Good luck with that.

No thanks!!

@alex I need to congratulate you sir. You've refined the wit and snark of games writing to such critical purity that you saying an utterly benign sentence like, "This $30 expansion is out November 12." becomes almost magically imbued with your clear opinion of this content.

Truly, a deck writing wonder to behold! ;)

(that said, the sky towers do seem kind of cool.)

This should be free for those of us that suffered through that horrible launch.

Some of this stuff really looks like it fixes a lot of the inefficiencies in the launch game.

I was reading an implied jerking off motion after the "$30 expansion" part. Amazing use of "less is more"

Sim City has to be my gaming disappointment of the year. So much potential wasted by design that just made the game not fun. The multiplayer mode should've been an option, not the standard. Not to mention the launch issues..

Posted by Korolev

Haven't played for a loooong time. Small cities are still small. Also, do roads still glitch out and blend in with the ground sometimes when you zoom out? That really annoyed me. Have they fixed that?

Posted by Sackmanjones

Ugh. I played a decent amount of sim city when it launched. I left it on such a bad note I don't think I will be going back anytime soon.

The problems and poor decisions behind this game really frustrate me, because some of the game systems look really interesting, and I absolutely love the aesthetic... EA dropped some serious potential here.

The free game wasn't enough?

I wasn't paying attention, is omega some sort of drug?

I dunno man, I got the game, installed it, got an amazon credit for preordering, then they refunded me my money. Then I got NFS Most Wanted from those free games.

So I don't regret shiiiiiiiit.

How many people are actually still playing this? Not a snarky question - I'm just curious.

Posted by afabs515

Is this the expansion that makes it a real SimCity game? No? That's ok then, I still don't need to buy it.

Posted by fisk0

Didn't the mod community find out how to disable the city limits thing? I'm amazed EA still aren't selling that option as DLC.

Edited by darkest4

What a joke.. still the same size cities and they want people to pay for more of their shit game already? Between the crazy micro transaction infested, expensive expacks every few months The Sims 3, and their butchering of Sim City, Maxis under EA has become one of my most hated game companies. Their greed and arrogance knows no bounds.

Posted by jcali

@mordiceius:

They recently released a blog post "recapping" the past 7 months, in which they announced they won't increase city sizes.

"After months of testing, I confirm that we will not be providing bigger city sizes. The system performance challenges we encountered would mean that the vast majority of our players wouldn’t be able to load, much less play with bigger cities."

General Manager of the Maxis Emeryville studio Patrick Buechner Patrick Buechner

Hence the "cities of the future" expansion that allows you to build up instead of out...

Sim City was really fun for the first couple days I played it. Then I realized just how limited you were in the size of the city you made and one small mistake cost you dearly in your building. They really messed up a good thing over at EA.

Edited by decker12

I've come back to the original a few times since the release day disaster and in no way does it hold my interest as long as Sim City 4 did. Charging $30 for this expansion is ridiculous, and a slap in the face for people who went through the launch debacle in March. I wouldn't spend a dime on anything for SimCity 5, let alone $30 damn dollars.

Posted by Lyfeforce

Thirty bucks? Seems a little excessive especially considering the bad rep the game has with it's performance.

Posted by Darson

Sigh

Posted by DaveC524

lol this game still exists

Edited by Shevar

So I guess this proofs how out of touch EA is at the moment. They are investigating if an offline mode would be possible (even tough someone altered a script and made it work), they are allowing for modding (which is essentially their version of re-skinning because you can't alter or add new models) and as the cherry on top this delicious pie, we get an Expansion to a game virtually everybody was disappointed with.

Posted by xyzygy

So he has one city fabricating a drug called Omega, and with those profits he's building a research center for a different clean, efficient city? That's pretty awesome.

Edited by AlmightyBoob

Game is still garbage

Posted by itspizza

For me, this might have been the most disappointing game EVER. Not only to mention there may never be another sim city again.

Edited by Igottadeuce

Oh, boy. Drones. Really looking forward to those!

Posted by KDR_11k

Somehow SimCity's multiple cities come off as a bad version of Anno's multiple island system...

Posted by Carryboy

I really like the look of the buildings, I really wish they would just add a new mode with unlimited size cities

Posted by Wuddel

I really liked SimCity with the editable buildings and such, and that might be a great expansion, but I still can not get over the small cities. I might pick this up on a sale.

NOPE

*pulls out hard copy of SimCity 4 Deluxe*

Posted by J12088

He keeps using the word "city"?? All i see are towns?

Posted by chiablo

How do we deal with the horrible traffic problems in the core game? Lets have mass transit that bypasses the roads, and workplaces that can be operated remotely!

Edited by CptBedlam

EFF you, Maxis.

Luckily, Firaxis/2K doesn't treat me like a clueless idiot consumer so I gave them my money gladly for Civ V and its addons.

Edited by RobertOrri

Maxis has stated that there will never be larger cities. Never.

Don't waste your money on this.

Edited by nivi

You would think they wouldn't show off how horrendous the frame rate got in that second city there.

Posted by Jayxeno

Fool me once SimCity, shame on you. Fool me twice SimCity, shame on me.

Edited by Patman99

Everybody loves Omega.... Just don't tell the cops, kapish?

Posted by Triphos

This trailer just makes me want to play more Anno 2070

Posted by Encephalon

But I want to do all that in one giant megacity! Dammit!
