Looks pretty freaking cool, I wonder if it's an MMO of some sort. I hope this breathes life back into space games.

@slightlytriangularrectangle: The name seems fine to me. It's like No Man's Land but in the sky. Gives a pretty good idea of what you're getting into.

This could be awesome, but until I see somethin', it's just as real as Peter Molyneux's original Fable.

Don't really understand the hype around this. All we know is that it's an "exploration game" and you can transition between space and planets. But what do you actually do in the game ? Are you building stuff ? Is it puzzles ? Or just fighting ?

Just way too many questions for me to really feel either way.

I'm really rather excited by this. It looks like one of those games where once it comes out you can't quite believe nobody already made it.

It does look pretty neat. Curious what sort of actual game it is though.

4 people... What the hell is wrong with EA? They had hundreds of people work on battlefield 4 and at game is still broken as hell. They should stop hiring directly from community colleges.

@stimpack: There was a lot of what looked like hyperspace "jumping" in that trailer. Before we get excited about a large seamless universe lets make sure each planet isn't its own zone that you have to hyperspace (and load) in to.

It looks awesome and it may very well have a masssive interconnected universe but for technical reasons I could see each planet having its own section of space around it and when you reach the edge the game brings up a map to plot a hyperspace jump rather than just flying on.

Shai-Hulud, duuuuude! Everything in this trailer seems dope. The thing I don't get is it a SP or a MP game?

I want to run my own personal Spacing Guild. Up the prices for those disgusting Tleilaxu.

Not a lot to go on in the trailer, but I really like the look of the game for sure. The elevator pitch of this sure sounds neat.

For a random generated everything, those are some shark-ass looking sharks. This proves that evolution is real btw. Dudes created Earth life with an RNG :)

I'm getting a very strong Molyneux vibe from this game, as in it's doable, but only by the right people, so this might be a little bit overambitious

I wonder how big the planets actually are and if they are full spheres or you can just land in a certain zone like in Mass Effect 1. But it looks pretty fucking cool, anyway.

Procedurally generated explorin', and shootin', and spaceship flyin'. It's almost too perfect. I can't handle it.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say "procedurally generated fish" means "we've got several dozen fish models and the computer decides where to put them based on specific parameters." Same goes for everything else.

Whoever first described this as Molyneux-esque hit the nail on the head. Premise is super ambitious and cool, but there's no way it's going to deliver on the trailer's promise. I would be skeptical of a thousand-person studio's ability to pull this off, let alone a four man team.

If this can do what Elite did to video gaming in 1984, it could be something really special. This trailer makes it look incredible.

If this pans out, this could be the open world space game I've been looking for for like 10 years.

I have wanted a game where you can go from surface into space seamlessly for as long as I can remember.

No kidding. For many years I've been waiting now for something like this. I had hoped that with technology advancing so much that we would be at a point where this could be possible. I don't care how the damn graphics look, I just want a large and seamless universe. I get tired of the loading screen bullshit where every single area is divided, and landing on a planet means it's really just one tiny "zone."

Yep, same here. I've always thought the idea was too ambitious for it's own good, but I've also always hoped it would someday be possible. I'm going to keep the expectations in check, but I can't help but be very hopeful this turns out the way we hope it does.

Yeah, "procedurally" doesn't necessarily mean randomly. It just has to follow a procedure. For a shark, that procedure might be:

  1. Choose a head
  2. Choose fins
  3. Choose texture
  4. Choose color palette

Where any combination of those things is still going to make a shark. Still, it allows for a lot of variety without as much work for the developers.

@meteora3255: during the interview developer sean murray gave at the vgx he mentioned you'll be able to travel to any mountain, planet, etc you can see in the distance. i infer that to mean planets will be large and there will be multiple generated within your instance.

not too bothered if additional worlds have to be loaded in during jumps, anyway. the promise of piloting a ship from ground to space is awe inspiring to me. it's the dream.

Take my money, Hello Games.

Such a lovely fresh surprise - I think that's what has got me. Expecting something like Joe Danger and instead seeing something completely different. Great editing to the trailer too - fits the soundtrack nicely. Colour me excited!

Well, I'm not sure if those four guys ever worked at Bullfrog/Lionhead but they are all part of the strong Guildford development community. There is a lot of quality and knowledge there. They are experienced and talented. They have a good shot at something.

Wouldn't be surprised if 'size' wasn't also a factor - hence the giant worms. Everyone's just gonna be searching for the Planet of the Giant Beasts.

It seems cool enough, but I don't quite understand the explosion of praise from people. We know almost nothing about this game, and the ground to space transition has definitely been shown before in trailers.
