I love how the audio makes this QL sound like it was made when the game was released.

I also love how the only Wisconsin university is Stout because we have a saying here about the school: "When in doubt, go to Stout."

Best football game of all time. Xbox version looks much better than the PS2 one shown. Easy and fun to pick up and play. They basically forced EA into paying off the NFL because they couldn't compete with this game. Ugh. RIP 2K football.

So good. I loved to use this to mess with my friends who would come over to watch football on Sunday. I would rip some music from my parents' broken ass music collection. Imagine the horror of sitting down after a few brews to play a game of 2K5 only to be greeted by the sounds of Air Supply or some other horror from my parents past. Glorious.

Without a doubt this is my favorite football game of all time. The early, ridiculous Gameday games come in a close second.

Such a great game! Fingers crossed that one day EA will lose its exclusive NFL license and 2K will get a chance to pick up where this game left off.

The best part of this game is the fact that it was $19.99, which forced Madden (in which 2005 was arguably its best year as well) to drop its price as well.

I'm so glad this game is getting some love on GB. I still play it every once in a while - the game play is addictive in a way that no Madden game has ever done for me. It's basically the only football game I ever play.

When Alex said "Please don't make me the Giants", I got all sad... but then it made sense. I figure Alex is a Patriots fan, and the Giants have ruined the Patriots on multiple occasions.

I had a lot of fun playing this game on the XBOX and the crib feature was pretty sweet. Great video too, but Vinny is clearly the Les Miles of video game football.

It's a damn shame they didn't get a chance to make one of these for the 360/PS3 era(APF doesn't count). Minus the terrible secondary play, 2K5 played a great game of football.

The football game so good that Kotaku editors banned users for bringing it up in their comments sections on Madden all the time. (I wish I was joking, but it was sadly not the case.)

For those of you guys that aren't familiar with sports games, this was widely accepted as the best football game for quite some time (when the sliders were properly adjusted). Better than almost all xbox 360 madden installments through 2013. I think 2013 finally surpassed 2k5.

It was the Battlefield 2 of sports games, where Madden was the CoD.

maybe it's because of vinny and alex in part, but this game actually seems... good? and i really don't like the madden games. this has actual personality to it, and it doesn't seem to have needless complexity.

It's sad how this game can still compete with the latest Madden, even with the new graphics upgrade. And the exclusive deal should have never happened. Imagine how great football games would be today if their were competing developers trying to perfect the sport. Where now starting to see the same laziness with the MLB The Show series, now that MLB 2K has been disbanded.

Alex. Real talk. I DEMAND you make people sit there and watch you draft shit for hours. I'd make them sit through dozens of hours of recruiting in NCAA football, but that might not be your thing.

I hate watching Vinny play sports games, however glad to hear Alex knows quite a bit ... now if only they can team him up with someone else that shares his same knowledge I'd actually take the time to watch sports related videos on Giantbomb.

Bearing in mind that I care not a whit about football....I would go to a football game with Alex in a heartbeat.

Maybe for the phone camera stuff, but the main stream has some pretty professional headsets.
