Looks quite nice, that walking animation is something for sure. Kinda makes me want to see Uncharted 4 even more. Walking around in a world where time has frozen sounds pretty neat on paper and looks like they nailed that surreal feeling.

It would have been nice to have at least some kind of context to what was happening though, some exposition about the protagonist.

I was excited before this, now I am sad, oh well..I have many other games to look forward too!

The first 30 seconds sounded like Watchdogs (I had started the video in the background). But everything changed when the chopper appeared.

Still one of the reasons I'll get an Xbox. Remedy games are always intriguing.

Edited by testas22

I'll still play it, but the actual gameplay has deadened my hype a little. My hype only returned when the enemies who can move even when time is futzed popped up.

The video description is a little...pretentious man, not everyone cares about what you want, patrick. But this game really does look hellof promising.

Edited by SomeJerk

From this I just want to go through it for the story, if it really is just going to be Uncharted 1 quality third person shooting and not moving, with a time-freezing and time-locked sections you segue into with pre-rendered cutscenes.

Posted by Do_The_Manta_Ray

The gameplay looks interesting and all kinds of fluid, but the disconnect between the action and the incredibly slow walking animation, not to mention the frequent, frequent pauses he makes to just stare ahead, here is real frustrating.

And the graphics are confusing to me. I think that the effects, such as the planks shivering and quaking beneath you due to explosions and time-manipulation looks terrific. The lightning is equally as impressive, but the textures just look bad and blurry.

But boy, that attention to detail. This is a remedy game alright. Despite that, I'm just not sure how to feel about it.

Can't fing wait, loved every second of it. Remedy has not let me down.

Damn. I think in the back of my head I knew this would be mostly a 3rd person shooter, but man is it a bummer to see that confirmed here.

Alan Wake was cool overall, but the combat was a frustrating slog at best. And for Quantum Break, what better ability in a game is there to avoid combat than stopping time?!

I really hope devs start to learn the Watch_Dogs lesson. Building your interesting world and gimmicks around a typical shooter doesn't make a game more playable/relatable... it makes it avoidable.

This seems like exactly what they promised the game would be.

Anyways, looks pretty great.

Posted by Turambar

That sure is a third person shooter...

Posted by Ghost_Cat

The slow-mo effects are cool. But that's about it.

Posted by TheSouthernDandy

This looks really cool. Also I'm confused about the people being disappointed that 3rd person shooting is a big part of it. Did you guys play Max Payne and Alan Wake?

Posted by Foggen

Max Payne meets Singularity.

Posted by soapiestpenguin

@thesoutherndandy: Seriously, I don't understand the hate. Did they think this was gonna be an RPG, or PUZZLE-BASED PLATFORMER? What the fuck were you people expecting?
Max Payne ; great game
Alan Wake ; great game
both those dudes had guns with a 3rd person camera

I really want to experience Alan Wake again, but I definitely don't want to play it again. Lots of people here are complaining that it's another third-person shooter, but I think they're augmenting it plenty with the time manipulation stuff so you're not stuck on one enemy for too long, like you were on Alan Wake, taking down the shield with the flashlight, then killing your target with spare quantities of ammo. Whereas that was more of a horror/combat puzzle, this looks to take another brilliant Remedy narrative and apply some more approachable action.

The animation transitions were a little jarring (they definitely were in Alan Wake) and there were some things here and there, but in motion, just holy shit.

Uh they showed gameplay a long time ago and it was a third person shooter with diving like Max Payne so I'm not sure why that would be a surprise to anybody.

Really, you're complaining about that? People care less about your opinion. Are you hired by a Top 10 Online Gaming Property? No. Chill.

Looks pretty cool

looks awesome. Definitely pre-order material

The guns sound extremely realistic, they did a good job with the audio.

Remedy make 3rd person action games with some kind of hook. Max Payne had the whole 'bullet time' thing, Alan Wake had the whole flashlight thing. Both of them were really great games.

This is another 3rd person action game with a hook, I fully expect it to also be great.

Although, we've got to hope that the TV show tie-in doesn't ruin anything. If the story is incoherent taking each format separately then it'll be a disaster. And it's a shame it's tied to XBone. Also hoping it'll get a PC release down the line.

This looks kinda generic. The lighting does look great however and I always give Remedy the benefit of the doubt.

PERSON SHOOTER OF THE THIRD CAMERA POSITION DEGREE!

Edited by TheHT

Oh my god, it's like they made a game out of how I played Max Payne 2 and Skyrim: get a mod that let's you slow time to almost a stop, then zip around and shoot a full magazine into enemies before starting it again.

towards the end, does he stop time while time is already stopped? Those armored dudes can move during whatever that anomaly is, but he is still able to use his powers to stop them?

I do like that the shooting seems a bit more toned down though, its 'nice' to see a gun fight that doesn't include fountains of blood or limbs flying all over the place.

Edited by blacklab

Other than the big scripted time stuff, it looks quite a bit like he's just popping Mass Effect powers.

@npfeifer: Didnt mean it like that bro, we can leave the comments of this video to the game man.

I still don't know that much about how well it plays but it sure as hell looks cool. Between this and now Tomb Raider XB1 has the first two exclusives I give a damn about for these new consoles.

I hope that was sarcasm. Guns do not sound that "poppy".

@soapiestpenguin: Yup. I totally get the third person shooter fatigue but with Remedy it's the stuff surrounding that core mechanic that makes it so interesting. This time distortion stuff looks real cool.

Posted by Tesla

This looks quite like my kind of game, as I suspected all along. Remedy make some kick ass third person shooters.

Edited by EuanDewar

Something about the way this demo was being played seemed clunky. Like whoever was playing it was messing up a bit, unintentionally going off script in an awkward way.

Probably just me though, I am quite excited for this game.

Posted by Spitznock

S'like an Akemi Homura simulator. (Way into it.)

Edited by paulunga

From the people who gave the world bullet time comes: New time manipulation combat mechanics! Seriously, though, this looks pretty damn cool, both visually and gameplay-wise.

Max would like his jacket back...

The thing that kills some of my enthusiam (and this might just be the guy playing) is it looks like more of a cover shooter than a more over-the-top John Woo style shooter that most people want out of Remedy.

But the cover system seems less like Gears and more like the new Tomb Raider, which worked great in my opinion, so maby this will too.

Posted by DayOneAdvantage

Sure have missed Remedy. Max Payne 1&2 and Alan Wake are some of my favorite action games and this looks like it will be another strong addition to their catalog.

Edited by Vinny_Says

This seems like a logical progression for Max Payne. I can see how you could chain multiple kills with the time stop mechanic and clear a room in seconds. I see a lot of potential here if they really go all out with the time mechanics. More new games, bring it on!

Also, what is up with GB's comments sections? Every video is the same sarcastic, cynical, snide torrent of comments about every single thing. Come on people, liven up a bit. Leave that stuff for Alex.

Posted by DragonNinja789

The animation nerd in me ate all those time manipulation effects up. The lighting and audio direction in this are great. Remedy does not disappoint me.

Posted by dancingpolkabear

Man what a cool looking game, and while yes there is standard third person shooter stuff in there, it looks way more interesting with all the time powers in the mix

Posted by Riv3nt

Oh, so it's a third-person cover shooter. Ok, then...

Posted by Strathy

Oh good it's a cover shooter.... coming exclusively to the $20 bin. The mechanics look like they might be somewhat fun in an FPS but I can feel the unsatisfying controls. Feel them through the screen.

Posted by djou

The graphics are flashy but wow does the gameplay look generic. A boss fight? How passe. I'm about as excited for this as I am Naughty Dog making another Uncharted.

Posted by BenderUnit22

Looks like what I was expecting, so I dunno.

Posted by SPARTAN3

Dang I don't know what everyone was expecting from Remedy, but this looks crazy am excited.
