There are no "nothing I can do about it" deaths in this game.

What could he have done about the chest then? He hit it once. If the solution was the use the blood signs, then that's pretty weak. There are plenty of "nothing you can do about it" deaths in the game. It's still a fun game to play, you just have to accept that you will get frustrated with it sometimes.

Still, I enjoy this feature and the only thing it makes me want to do is play Dark Souls II.

Not sure why my post didn't go through. Anyways...

He could've rolled out of the way. That's what I do. Also I wanna say ADP affects how often you trigger traps.

Sidenote it drives me nuts that both Vinny and Brad leave their inventory cluttered like that. Why not just dump things off you don't need?

I wish there was a way to transfer my save to the PC version when that comes out...I just beat the 360 version and got most of the achievements, but I'd love the prettier version because there's some great art in here.

He could have raised his shield and taken 0 damage, or stepped slightly to the side and the arrows would have all missed. He actually did the worst thing possible by turning his back to it. Like the other guy said, there are no forced deaths in this game.

@lordofultima: There is a fundamental difference between getting hit by an enemy and losing some life and getting stuck in an unbreakable animation that leads to your death. It shouldn't obliterate my entire lifebar.

There are still doors that you have to attack. I can think of five off the top of my head. Its the fact he tired all three methods and it didn't work. Then proceed to keep trying like it would just magically work 3 minutes later after the 40th attempt. What kind of logic is that?

I don't think so? The Pharros secrets you need to attack. The other illusionary walls you just need to press A or X.

Also, that's called insanity. Remember?

Vinny has the exact same armor I had, except I used the Gyrm Greatshield. Thank God I played DS2 the right way; the way of the Dark Lord; the Vinny way.

No there are ones without the pharros contraptions that you have to attack. Just not that many. There is one in nomans wharf that you have to attack. One at the begging of the game as well. There are a few others, but again, just not that many.

1) He has only two points in PER, right?

2) With no idea what ring the messages could be talking about, why not look at what rings are already owned?

3) It's easy to see what people got stuck at the up-down barrel in Sonic 3.

4) Did none of you guys do the "carry light-source to open up an illuisonary door" business in Dark Souls?

I need to find some of this shit that Brad and Vinny have lol...I have gotten to places it looks like they have not (Iron Keep, fuck those archers) and still don't have that sick armor, helmet or sword that I could really use. Also I hope there is a cool mace coming up, because I really want one with some better range and stats. I guess that speaks to how open this game is.

And yeah co-op these bosses are a joke for the most part. Solo they just require patience usually. I got summoned to fight the Skeleton Kings/Lords whatever they are called...god what a joke of a boss. That Jabba the Hut/Rancore/Slug boss is also pretty easy if you stay on your game. I never got swallowed, but his waddles were pretty wild at times.

Yup, if you light a bonfire but don't rest and then die before you reach anothee bonfire you will respawn at the one you lit.

I believe he just lost the chance to get the special weapon/spell/souls her boss soul would give. As long as the primal bonfire itself is lit he's not locked out of game progression.

There are no "nothing I can do about it" deaths in this game.

That depends on what your definition of "nothing I can do about it" really is. There are several enemies that will lock you into animations that you can't escape and very often result in death unless you have a ton of health - like for instance the Mimic Chests. Just yesterday I opened a mimic chest with full health, and it simply chomped me to death. There was quite literally nothing I could do about what was happening and I'm level 95.

I could have hit the chest with my sword to test it beforehand, but if the only option to avoid inescapable animation death is to simply never get hit, then that is not enough. A binary margin of error of is not "margin" at all.

Well, you could get more health. That's "something you can do about it".

But mimics are stronger than the normal enemy of the area, they are supposed to be a really unpleasant trap. It's all about initiative with them, you get them first and they usually die before even getting up, but if they get you first you're dead -- unless you have tons of health -- it's their gamble.

So NEVER open a chest without checking for traps! One of the mimics that got me was the one disguised as a stone box in Iron Keep. The thing killed me, but got me smiling and recognizing how the brilliant bastards that put it there lured me into that false sense of security (which is what mimics are all about in the end).

I think it just changes her attack patterns, and to the worst it seems. I tried cutting a whole bunch of tails in this game and it seems there's no tail weapons anymore. They made it easier and more comprehensible to exchange the boss souls for weapons and spells though. So it's kind of a Megaman reward system -- kill a boss, get a weapon now.

This video had so many great moments during the boss fights.

Also, since I noticed they weren't doing it in the video and other people may not be either: looking at lore/information for equipment is very important even if you're not interested in the lore since several otherwise terrible pieces have special effects listed there such as item find up, experience up, and so on. Of course, some equipment is just bad and that's all there is to it.

haven't played 2 yet my self, but at least on Vinnys stream, the level design looks pretty bad at points. Like a cheap Quake level.. Maybe it's just the high brightness-level.

in Dark Souls, the areas I liked the most were the ones where you had a lot of overlapping and verticality, like that goddamned poison-moat place, where you could look up at places you were before, and other places you hadn't been yet. Or that sunset castle bit.

in the few minutes I've actually watched (I try not to look at the screen, for spoiler reasons) I haven't seen many of those intricate level designs.

Hope I'm all wrong about this.

Totally. I endure Brads to enjoy Vinnys playtime and Rorries commentary. The indecisiveness and constant bitching really sour the whole thing.
Watching Vinny play this and Load our last Souls tho? Totally worth all my premium money and then some ^_^

This was pretty funny duders. I'm surprised Vinny died on the Covetous Demon and I had no idea he could eat your equipment off of you. I totally beat him on my first shot though I'm a spellcaster. I think I lucked out by having the ring to speak to the Manscorpion and it's thanks to a lesson I learned in Dark Souls 1. Which is to say you should pay close attention to unique vendor items. If you speak to him you can summon him during the scorpion lady boss. Honestly though he was kind of useless and I ended up losing even with his and another players' help. I had to solo the boss while hollow and surprisingly I beat her without much trouble. And of course he'll give you something for beating her when you talk to him again.

This game might be harder at some points -- But man did they overpower the Ring of Life Protection!

It doesn't go away anymore, so when it breaks, yo just need to spend 3000 souls at the blacksmith to fix it and make it usable again. Unless you absolutely need 4 rings equipped at all times, you can just spend that slot and you'll never lose your souls or humanity upon death.

He used to do a pretty good Dark Souls stream last year. Here's Rorie's finest moment (from his YouTube channel):
