I saw a bit of the old ultra-violence there.

I'm really excited for this game, but I think I'll wait till it's out-out.

I would play this but it probably wouldnt be anywhere near as good as dwarf fortress.

I've been really interested in this too and because of that I feel like I'm gonna wait until the full thing is out before diving in so I don't spoil myself to it with an unfinished product. The developers seem to be planning a 1.0 release in around 9 months, so that's really not too long to wait.

I hate Early Access for the simple fact that game announcements waste all of their Shock and Awe on me so early and then when the game finally does come out, I either no longer care or something else has announced Early Access and now I no longer care anyway.

@daddycabinet There aren't any other games as good as dwarf fortress.

This is actually kinda similar to Dwarf Fortress.. Every person has a psychological profile which is also affected by everything that's been going on in the game. Just that fact makes for very deep and interesting gameplay if you pay attention to why's and how's. In the year of 2014 this type of shit should be in pretty much every strategy game, not just obscure indie titles.

I love Dwarf Fortress and am enjoying the trailers, so I'll give it a shot.

And not to be mean, but the rendering/atmosphere seems to be a bit rough around the edges, even through the trailers film grain, it feels a little stiff and dead.

Oh this is the Lovecraftian themed strategy game right? Looks pretty interesting. Guessing an Unfinished is is probably going to be in the works.

I've had my eye on this for a while, and it's really looking great, but this also seems like the type of game where I should just wait until the full release to play it (unlike something Crawl, where it's short, 30 minute match structure makes it good to just pick up every once in a while when hanging out with friends).

If they're colonists of the British Clockwork Empire, why did they spell Grey as Gray?

One of my favorite devblogs to follow right next to Dwarf Fortress' devblog.

Ah, this is interesting. My initial impression from the trailer was that it was more like a traditional RTS where you have direct control of the colonists. The fact that it is more AI driven makes it far more appealing to me.

Yeah, I feel this trailer did a very bad job of representing the actual game, even the graphics seem way worse than in-game because of how much more zoomed in it is in the trailer.

You give orders to groups of units, how they react to those orders is entirely up to them. These are also the guys who made Dungeons of Dredmor, a proper graphical roguelike, so gameplay depth is most likely one of their biggest priorities.

@loafsmooch: Ah, that's fantastic. I love Dungeons of Dredmor. This actually makes me excited to play the game!

Looks kind of janky, but interesting. I'll wait on it. I have a "Never spend more than $20 on Early Access" rule.

Looks kind of fun, but the graphics and animation looked... janky at best.

Edited by Mr_Creeper

Gonna agree that the "janky"-ness of the animations and $30 price tag will keep me away until after a full release.

Do NOT settle next to an ocean when fishmen are present. Could be a whole, whole lot of them.
