Hahaha, actually include things from previous games expansions in the new game? Don't be absurd, how would they then be able to release 8 fucking expansions?

I mean the Seasons thing was done in Sims 1 & 2, I'm sure pets were too, & the vacations from Adventure. It's really silly. I like The Sims games, as games, but the whole business model really puts me off.

I bet they're still being crazy people and charging forty dollars for these things. I'd hate to calculate how much it'd cost to own a "complete" Sims 3, but I'm sure it's in the thousands. And there's no way they'd actually sell a complete collection, because EA.

Does anyone know if these expansions are still selling? I would guess they must be if they are still making them. If there is an audience for it, I guess EA will continue to exploit the situation, that is why they are in business.

@Draxyle: Funny thing is that this expansion will release for 40 and drop to 20 within two weeks. I always wait to grab for 20 on Amazon.

Sims 3 Expansions are basically following a checklist of what they already launched as Sims 2 Expansions.

And to think this series was a symbol of innovation once. EA and their fight to end creativity in games forever.

I'd guess it still sells like cupcakes. Not a phenomenon like it was before, but pretty popular none the less.

I remember enjoying The Sims 2 University, until I realized the wonky aging model didn't work too well with your character getting a girlfriend in college then graduating. I had my character call his girlfriend over only to realize she was still an 18 year old.

I hope everyone who views this trailer with earnest interest falls into aggressively perculating lava.

Yea, it's mostly the online item store that really inflates the price. I couldn't believe how much stuff was on the store day one when I bought The Sims 3 new; hundreds of dollars worth of hair, clothes and furniture at the very least. It was as if they had charged 60 dollars to get access to a freemium game. It really rubbed me the wrong way, since I didn't feel like the base game was content-complete enough.

I'm actually surprised they got away with a T rating for a game with beer pong and sexual experimentation themes. How many parents will buy this for their 13 year old because it's rated OK?

Also this does not look like the college experience I had at all, and if I wanted to play it for that reason, I think I just figured out how marketing works.

I understand that not everyone likes the same stuff, but a few comments make this game out to be some moral evil, or some product for horrible people. I didn't know the Sims even made a strong enough of an impression to warrant that kind of reaction.

It's a game from EA, a company that most people hate already, that has a ton of paid additional content, a practice people generally hate on already, and is aimed towards casual players, which also generally get a lot of hate on hardcore gaming sites...

If anything, I'm surprised The Sims doesn't get more hate.
