Halo 2 opened with a shot of Reach being glassed, Halo 3 showed the Elite fleet glassing Africa to contain the Flood, and the final level of ODST had you fleeing the city as the Covenant glassed it behind you.

It'll be neat to see it on a planetary scale, but we've definitely seen it before.

Trying not to get suckered into the hype of this in the same way I was suckered into the Halo 2 hype machine.

You could see a partial glassing at several points in Halo 3, the Covenant were using their plasma weapons to excavate the machine that made the portal, and the Elites were glassing the city where the Flood landed after the Chief retrieves the message from Cortana. But yeah, it'll be cool to actually see them wreck an entire planet (give or take).

Well I for one am really looking forward to this game, from what I can tell, it'll be a worthy send-off for the series from Bungie. If I was gonna be worried about the quality of a Halo game, it'd be for whatever the next game in the series is, the first one not made by its creators.

Um...your an idiot. I'm not saying that because of your opinion of halo, you are entitled to that and i may even agree with you, but google who bungie's new publisher is and who owns the halo rights to find out how retarded the statement they are going to announce a new halo game is. or better yet read the fucking site your on, they literally have a news article about this exact topic.

Agreed. I like the Halo Universe. I think the setting and story are interesting. I love that one of the most popular gaming franchises right now is bright, colorful, completely unrealistic, and very sci-fi. However, the storytelling in-game for the Halo franchise is terrible. I mostly play games for the single player because I like to watch the story unfold. I always pay close attention and get invested. However, every time I finish a Halo game I end up going online and reading the story I just missed.

Have you played the Beta? This game plays more like Halo: CE on steroids than Halo 2. So what if they bring new characters? The entire cast of Noble Team look far more interesting than the uninteresting Master Chief.

On Topic With The Video:
Nice trailer, the clips they've shown and the music fit perfectly with the somber and tragic event of the outcome of the planet Reach. However, they've gone overboard by claiming it's the most anticipated games of 2010. It's certainly one of them, but it was definitely StarCraft II that fit that bill.

I've "lost my opinion privileges"? Indeed. Thank you obnoxious Internet person. Your opinion is extra valid because deprecating is only for special people :).

Cliches can be distinguishable in clusters, and then be associated with notions and things like the Modern Warfare. Heck, in the context of video games - which just so happens to be the topic of this website btw (excuse me, I assumed that would be a given and would not need to be pointed it out specifically) these are very much MW cliches. I'm sure you're able to watch the above-posted trailer again and find one or two of the MW2 hype trailers and spot the similarities.

But your point about IW not inventing the Trailer, is still totally valid. They so didn't.

Looks like a return to form. From a singleplayer campaign point of view I really rated Halo and Halo 2. Halo 3 disappointed me and ODST just didn't feel right atmosphere and gameplay wise, just felt like something was missing. From the released trailers the single player in Reach looks like it could be epic.

I've no doubt the multiplayer will be fun though and I'm hoping this will be the game that will get me to renew my gold subscription. MW2 got boring quickly (still prefer COD4) and I chose PC as my platform for BF:BC2. Gears 3 looks fun but since I had huge lag issues with Gears 2 I'll wait until Gears 3 drops to €20 and I'll probably only play through the campaign.

Of course!  These games should be sepia tone and have a Hans Zimmer Media Ventures soundtrack.  Maybe they could take out all the vehicles and replace them with on-rails set-pieces.   Why bother with a dynamic AI system when you can just spawn endless enemies out of broom closets?

And yeah, the character designs are so crazy!  You'd never catch Blizzard or Epic designing super soliders in futuristic armor.  Seriously, Bungie just doesn't put any effort into their games.

I'm being a bit snotty, I know, and I'm sorry about that.  But some opinions seem so shallow, and some people's taste seem so insipid that I can't help myself.

I'm extremely excited for Reach. Kind of funny but once in a while I go through periods where I hate Halo, and then times like now where I'm more excited for it than anything else coming this year. Bring on Reach!

It's a little hard to get excited about the narrative qualities of the game being that you know at the curtain call the entire planet of Reach gets glassed, nevertheless the game seems to look quality & it is certainly the first of anything Halo that has me interested.

RTS fans were clammoring for SC2 FPS fans.. Reach Everyone:  New Vegas ^^ "

Nah, I'm not in anyway interested in New Vegas since Fallout 3 just bored me to death, but that's just me.
Reach looks.... meh, Halo 3 kinda just ruined it all for me, I was so damn disappointed in how short the campaign was.  Odds are I will actually buy it but not till I hear the campaign is worth it.
And SC2? Well that's just a fun game for when you and your buddies have nothing to do.

Disappointed by the music for this trailer.... Don't get how everyone can call it amazing, the old halo music was epic, why change it? It's one of the reasons why halo was just so beautiful...

Ah, I gotcha. I too was looking for typical, high adrenaline, Micheal Bay trailer with explosions and quick cuts. This solemn stuff is played out. "
Cool, sarcasm!  Far out!
I was hoping for something non-generic-action-movie-ish and they provided with a rather serious trailer.  I commend them for that.  That being said, I'm not a big fan of this trailer, that's all.
