Wii U Launch: Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition

I do not like the new Batman Armor.

I shake my head at these poor ports.

and reggie thought this would appease the hardcore. hilarious.

And so the bad WiiU port jobs begin!

I have absolutely no desire to play this version of the game. The Xbox 360 version I've had for a year is just fine.

My kids have smashed up any eco case they have come across.

Holy frame rate Batman!

After watching most of these Wii U Launch videos, I'm starting to see a pattern of terrible frame rates. Maybe the cause is something going on in the background with the Wii U like it's downloading something to taking up memory needed for the game. I mean, how the hell did so many of these games end up like this? There's got to be another explanation.

If you can play this game on a PC and you choose not to then you've fucking fucked up. Considering how awful looking this is and how god damn awful the performance is I don't understand how this got released. The old console versions might be better but still if you're not playing this game in 60 FPS in high resolution with PhysX stuff on at least on one of the lower settings then you are missing out bad especially because of the PhysX stuff. It's amazing what they do with its effects and stuff. Watching enemies walk through smoke and the seeing that smoke adjust around the character looks great and that's the stuff we need in games if we want them to look better.

That is some weird framerate droppage. One would think that the developers and testers would have noticed something like that in the part of the game that is arguably central to its enjoyment. I don't recall that being an issue in other gameplay videos, but I hope people become aware of the potential for framerate prroblems.

That framerate is horrible. I don't usually care as much about that kind of stuff - I even think Jeff and Brad complain about it too much - but oh boy, that is the worst. How did they think that it was okay for this game to preform this badly?

Theres a WB Games studio in Montréal?? Like how many major games companies are there now???

Edit: also fuck eco case they are shitty and protect nothing! at least add a bit of plastic!

They love taking turns jumping the batman in these games, dont they? It's action combat that plays like turnbased.

The art style is still hot garbage, but now the frame rate is like at 50 too. Meh. 

Catwomen stole some of the frames from the Framerate.

I didn't notice anything egregiously wrong with the framerate. Does that make me a bad person?

Does it actually have the DLC on it (it does)? Also, the new armour looks miiiighty dumb.

It seems like they changed Catwoman's costume from the other versions.

Man this game looks poor to the PS3 and 360 version(Haven't got a gaming PC so i cannot comment on that one). Then again unless you've lived with just a Wii, you would have played this already.

Why the hell anyone thinks the combat in this game is good is beyond me.

Agreed. After reading reviews of this game and seeing no real mention of the frame rate as a problem, I have to wonder if something else wasn't affecting it during their play-through.

I have no idea how the gamespot review didn't mention any of the technical problems. This version looks and runs like shit.

From whom? The reviewer, or the ones who ported it?

I'd say both.

This is a shoddy port (bad lighting and framerate) of a year-old game.

Hugo Strange needs to be the villain in a Batman movie. Also, there needs to be a Batman movie like these video games; I really enjoy Christoper Nolan's Dark Knight, but Rocksteady's Batman universe is even better.

@borgmaster: It doesn't show as bad on our video, but even with that at some points you could see a massive drop.. Shame that a great game has that treatment.. :(

I would love to see a Ninja Turtles game done by Rocksteady. Capital suggestion, Patrick. Top drawer!

I don't think I quite get this. Bruce Wayne enters Arkham City, Bruce Wayne beats up the The Penguins thugs not unlike a certain caped crusader, disappears, and then Batman is suddenly on the scene. Is there a story justification for why everyone doesn't automatically discover the fact that Bruce Wayne is Batman?

@Bummey: I think the criminals assume Bruce Wayne is either hiding or dead. You do hear them talk about what might've happened to him from time to time.
