@thedude1:  You don't get the quest if you just type "first", you have to type something different.

Here's to hoping it's not broke like fallout 3 was.

God damn this game looks crap...

God I hate the "jazzing up interviews by using a green screen" thing. It's insulting.

Not if it's used to put Ryan on Brad's lap! :-D

Ah, Fallout.

Posted by OdinsThunder

looks like shit... pass

Posted by Dedodido

That video pretty much single handedly killed my interest in the game.

Posted by McPaper

Man this engine needs an update.

Posted by samcotts

Looks so ugly, but soooo good at the same time. I'm glad they've kept it at the same levels of ugly as Fallout 3, it's the best kind of ugly.

Cannot wait.

Edited by Impossibilium

Holy crap, I hope that's not the PC version because it looks like terrible.

I keep forgetting how old F3 is and how mediocre it looked back then, until FNV images are released and then I'm reminded.

Desperately in need of another texture mod.

More Fallout is always welcome.

Wow, there are a lot of haters in here. Graphics don't matter THAT much. Lighten up people. The game looks like a lot of fun. I'm playing through Fallout 3's DLC right now and it looks dated, but I'm not losing sleep over it.

Glad to see someone can have fun with a game without jacking off to graphics.

The game just looks so flat and empty. I mean it just looks like they've made a map and then just placed the models on top with no transition at all. Nothing sits right, nothing looks like it's been there for hundreds of years, it looks like they've got a 300 year old model and just placed it somewhere, it doesn't look like it's always been there. If anyone understands what I'm talking about.

tbh i didnt play fallout 3 for its graphics and this will be no different,Cannot wait for this game.

If you write "first" you don't get the credit.
Edited by uskomaton

As much as I liked Fallout 3, I'm not getting this game.
Wanna know why?
The purple fucking lizard. Fuck this game and it's designers.

And btw, fuck ray-guns too. I fucking hated Zeta cos you got that crap
and firing one those was so dickless it's not even funny.

Posted by Bacchus
@uskomaton:
Geckos were in Fallout 2.

I can't wait to play this game.
Posted by uskomaton
@Bacchus:
True, but they didn't look nearly as stupid.
Posted by Galiant

I AM SO FUCKING HYPED FOR THIS GAME!

Posted by MisterMouse

when does this come out again?

Posted by jos1ah

I can't believe how much this really is just Fallout 3 with a couple of new guns and a sign that reads Vegas.  As much as I liked F3, I've been bummed by these kinds of "updates" before and I don't think I'll be biting this time.  I mean, in a year or two's development time they couldn't even make a different looking computer terminal?  Seems horribly lazy and not a good sign.

They do in a FPS where you can walk right up to a shitty texture. Especially when it costs $60. If this was original Fallout then no, they wouldn't matter that much because you can't get up close to them.

It's two years later, low-budget game graphics don't belong in a full price game and in comparison to nearly every FPS on the market now FNV looks cheap.
Posted by lawlerballer

looks like an expansion pack, knowing obsidian it will be lol

Posted by Johnny5

Some of the stuff I cant WAIT for. But the energy weapon stuff doesnt appeal to me at all.

But, did you hear that music at the end? Sounds like Bioshock 2 underwater or something.

Agreed.

I enjoyed the holy-hell out of Oblivion and F3 despite the same issues, so I can't argue that poor graphics/animation/feedback kill a game if one can go into it with an open mind. But still, it comes across as super-lazy and cheap on Bethesda's part that they're still using this tired engine to pump out sequels.

Bethesda is a large company with plenty of resources, and I can't fathom how they (or anyone else) can think this plays as a $60/"AAA" title in 2010.
Posted by shadyspace

Fucking Christ, I can't believe they're still using Gamebyro. That engine was shit when they used it for F03 2 years ago.

People actually like this?

I'm with the "Gamebryo engine needs to fucking die already" crowd on this one. It looks absolutely horrible now.

Posted by Vigil80

Lot of haters 'round here.

It was either use the same engine, or get Obsidian to craft a whole new one. Don't think so.

Posted by LucyGlitter

I hope Obsidian do well with this. These guys deserve a break. Also, won't be focusing on graphics, but STORY. Chris Avellone, dudes. ENOUGH REASON TO BUY IT.

What no 'previously on FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS'? oh wait that was AC Brotherhood :P

What is with all the hate? They showed off some cool guns and great sounds... I can't wait for it!

Bethesda isn't making the game. They hold the rights to it, but it was made by Obsidian. After KOTOR 2 and Alpha Protocol, personally I'm glad that Obsidian is messing with the engine. I'm sure that Obsidian can weave a good story, but I don't trust them with building things from the ground up.

Anyone can justify not spending money just as well as I can justify the opposite, but at the end of the day I think the game looks fine. I'm not expecting every game to look like Halo Reach or Bioshock Infinite. It seems like there are a lot of people on the internet who aren't interested in the game that feel the need to find reasons to not like it (and share that reason with everyone). As a long time gamer I am all for value for my money, but the amount of complaining that the community does as a whole just feeds into the reputation that we get as a bunch of spoiled, self-entitled, know-it-alls.

And BTW I'm not calling you guys names here. I'm just making a point in general about the overall negativity I see in the forums and comments these days - it gets tiresome.

Thanks. I try, even though there are a lot of cynical people that want to ruin it for everyone else.

the funny thing is that a lot of haters long ago decided that they had no interest in this game. Turning your nose up to one of the best games of 2008 just because the graphics are largely the same as they where in 2009 when the last DLC hit, seems crazy to me... To each their own.

If the graphics bother me next month when New Vegas comes out, I will gladly eat my words. Considering that I played through most of Mothership Zeta last night though, I have my doubts that it will be a problem.
Edited by kratier
@emkeighcameron: it looked horrible when it first came out, your fanboyish attitude is showing because its not made by bethesda again, so of course the 5000 things you praised when it was released are now 5000 things you want to complain about

@sixpin: I meant Bethesda as a publisher, not the developer. It's they who decided to make this game, spend the money to have it developed, and reap most of the rewards of selling it.
I don't fault Obsidian for using the tools they've been given. I'm sure they'll do a fine job within the predetermined limitations Bethesda laid out for them.

And I wasn't trying to crap on the game. I can see F:NV being a better game than F3 (which, again, I loved). But I can't help that I'm very much looking forward to the day they (Bethesda) finally develop a new engine, therefor I am disappointed when I see that is not what they are doing.

Maybe they're developing/revealing a new engine for Elder Scrolls V. That would be swell.
Posted by Besetment

People who say that graphics don't matter are kidding themselves. It may not be a deciding factor in game quality, but bad graphics are bad graphics. Personally I've already played Fallout 3, and this looks exactly like Fallout 3. So far I have no reason to be interested in this. Do we care about new guns? New gun sounds? New enemy character models?

It doesn't help that the recent coverage of Bioshock Infinite is amazing compared to this, as far as reimaginings go.

Every Elder Scrools has had a new engine so far and considering the game wont be out in 2-3 years id say its almost a safe bet that it will

Yay! More Fallout and more Obsidian. Could not be more excited for this.

Posted by themangalist

Don't get me wrong, I love the Fallout franchise, I love the universe, I love the new direction Fallout 3 went, and I love how the original guys are going to go back to making a new game in the style Bethesda has established.

But the visuals are terrible. Not only by a tech standpoint, but also from an artistic one too. Everything I've seen so far of this game makes me think why people are actually getting excited over it. Not only is everything over-yellow, art design doesn't look diverse at all. Old textures and models, even if the story sounds so interesting, the world has zero appeal.

anyways, /rant.

I said it before, I'll say it again - this is just a giant mod made out of recycled parts. They could have at least made a new character generator with the time they were given.  This is worth no more than a $20 digital download via Xbox Live.

@jorbear:  Good to see someone else excited!  Finished fallout 3 couple weeks ago and want more!!
