This music is surreal.

Hm... not sure about this one. Guess I'm surprised it doesn't look terrible (yet)

I made the mistake of using tactile before when meaning tactical. Tactile just means tangible. Though it should really have another meaning that aligns with tactical.

So alex, fix that mistake. Tactile means to touch.

Edit: So wait, they use tactile in the trailer. Does that mean, "Take the touchy feely route"? XD

@sil3n7: The music has been AMAZING! 19 more days guys, and it's time to kill the Nazi scum.

Did you watch the trailer?

Edit: two wrongs don't make a right, guess he could add quotation marks...

@thefriend: Taking a hands-on approach, probably.

I was almost sold on this game after the trailer that showed some of the story on the train, but the action here looks kinda mediocre. I'm not sure why I would attempt the stealth route when, apparently, I can just walk in and take everyone out so easily. The choice is meaningless when both options are so easy. Did the graphics get tuned down also? I want this game to be cool but I'm starting to disembark from the hype train.

Posted by Brad3000

It boggles my mind that this trailer got out there with "tactile" in there. There's no way that's what they meant.

Dual-wielding sniper rifles. Alright I'm in.

Posted by TheManiacsGnome

@benjo_t: It's a loose collection of clips, we don't know difficulty, section of the game or what happens in between all the cuts. I only saw one drone, no robots or any of the bigger baddies it's safe to say this isn't a complete look at the game but a brief look at the options some of the levels have.

Don't be such a stick in the mud.

Yeah I agree with this, theres no reward for stealth if it's the same result. But I guess when I think Wolfenstein I don't even think stealth so I don't know why they tried to do a 'multiple play styles' trailer. Also the AI just seems dumb, standing there looking at you shooting while you just gibify them.

@themaniacsgnome: You're right that it's not a look at the whole game, but I'm still allowed to voice my opinion - what I just saw was mediocre to me. If that was them trying to entice me, they failed, because it did the opposite. They decided how what was just shown to me was presented and cut, didn't they?

Would you ever call out someone who said that this trailer looked amazing for the same reasons you called me out? I doubt it. You just want confirmation of the opinion you already have.

I wouldn't worry. This is a trailer and a light hearted one, full of jump-cuts at that. I've seen the pre-release version of the game and you can't just stand there and soak bullets. Your health is far more fragile in the gameplay that I've seen. Bad guys roll and take cover often as well. AI seems par for an FPS. I don't think this was meant to be taken so literally.

Posted by Ghost_Cat

Eh, I think this still looks pretty darn fun. Especially if that is the kind of music being played over gameplay, then I'm totally down for it.

Posted by benjo_t

@sixpin: That's encouraging. I wish they'd shown that, instead of making it look how they did, then.

I'll play that game. Also, nice to hear proper Polish in there (when the old man tell the girl not to get up - 'nie wstawaj').

The polite thing to do is to not disturb the other Nazis while they're sleeping.

I just love the amount of personality they've managed to put forth with the trailers. Very Inglourious Basterds-esque. Watching that scene in the train in particular instantly reminded me of Basterd's own bar scene.

Kinda weird why there's a stealth playstyle in this, as a series like Wolfenstein has never struck me as a something that would emphasise any sort of stealth. Even as someone that generally likes to play steathily when given the option, it looks to me that this game would be much more rewarding in going down the ''mayhem'' route anywhoo.

Edited by GunstarRed

Why on earth would I want to play a game called Wolfenstein stealthily????! Head explosions and gibs all the way.

Posted by Soapy86

This game looks awesome. I think it's going to fly under the radar and quietly be the best shooter of this year.

Hm... not sure about this one. Guess I'm surprised it doesn't look terrible (yet)

Why would you assume it would be terrible?

Well, the original Castle Wolfenstein games were stealth games, and the original Wolfenstein 3D had some stealth mechanics, with how little damage you could sustain, and guard patrol paths and how they reacted to sounds, as well as with how you'd do more damage to enemies that weren't aware of your presence. It was originally even supposed to let you carry around bodies and use disguises, but that stuff was disabled in the final release (some of the code was written though, and is still in the game and sometimes enabled in mods).

I LOVED Return to castle Wolvenstein on the PC and Xbox but.... this game just looks terrible

I like the music and the vibe they were going for tough.

haha! This trailer is so cool, especially with the music.

I'd like to think they made up that word in order to express a playstyle that displays good tact. I found it rather diplomatic, anyway.

It's Wolfenstein. I'm going in guns blazing. Options are good though. Trying to be stealthy is the exact opposite of what I want to do in a Wolfenstein game. Maybe on a 2nd play through.

I watched the first hour of the game being played and it seems like exactly what I want from a game like this. I'm not going into Wolfenstein expecting any deep gameplay. As long as the guns feel good and there are plenty of dudes to kill, I'm happy. I have my "realistic" tactical shooters already.

Huh, I never knew that. Truth be told I've never actually played a Wolfenstein game before myself and just always assumed that it was a series similar to the Dooms, Serious Sams, and other such ilk. Wasn't the last game before this a more traditional gung-ho shooter at least?

Dat music doe

Hats of to the music director of this game. However, the Sound Design comes across as really weak in this trailer. None of the weapons had any punch or weight to them - really jarring considering how big and bulky they look.

Man, I envy all the people who watch this and don't just feel frustrated by how exhaustingly familiar every bit of these designs and this gameplay feels.

Yes I realize it's supposed to be about crazy mindless fun where you don't even aim down your sights, I'm all for that, but at this point there is NO excuse for this shit to look so typical and familiar. It's just the basic Half-Life and Call of Duty blueprint over and over again. I'm not talking about the genre I'm talking about the game itself as you look at it in real time, it's so deep in the box it found Narnia.

In 2014 I just can't see myself enjoying being behind the screen I just watched in that trailer, it's so safe and typical it hurts.

I would agree, except for the fact that while its kind of stupid and a syptum of the human condition, anytime someone makes a game where i can run around and shoot nazis, i give it a little bit of a pass. If call of duty's enemy had been nazis, i probably would be sick of nazis by now, but it was russians, so when anyone makes a game with russians, i just sigh.

yeah this actually looks fun. dual-wield everything looks like an option. kind of crazy

Posted by OneKillWonder_

This looks like pure old-school fun, something severely lacking in shooters today. Can't believe anyone would bitch about this. It looks fucking awesome and I'm really looking forward to playing it.

Loving the alternative history music.

Still a better stealth game than Thief..

Really digging the over-the-top-ness of the shooting, but I'll be playing Watch_Dogs instead.

Is it physically possible to fire two automatic weapons at the same time? Have any of you gun-loving boys and girls in the USA ever tried? Is it even legal?

Posted by whoEEZthat

I don't know maybe it's just me but that looks like another generic first-person shooter. Be stealthy or go in guns-o-blazing style gameplay can only go so far I just hope that future Nazi Dystopia of Wolfenstein could be a cool enough setting to stomach the same old same old game we've been getting for this decade.

Edited by Twisted

Well it's a damn fine trailer. Interested to see how it turns out.

Edited by Waffley

This is definitely one of the earlier stages of the game that's designed to get you used to the "standard" scenario of going through an area to take down a single target, which this game doesn't actually force you to do that often compared to a game like Dishonored. After what you could consider the prelude which is around an hour of backstory, something happens and you're in the near-ish future. At that point they incorporate other types of enemies chasing you down or obstructing your directive, and things get far more interesting.

By interesting, I'm talkin' Nazis with bionic arms, various car or tank-sized robots, robot dogs, a robotic eagle used as a small ship, and probably robot Nazi zombies or Nazi werewolves at some point because fuck it.
