Why does it seem like everyone forgets about the helicopter game that Flappy Bird was obviously inspired by? http://www.play-helicopter-game.com/

Flappy Bird wasn't ripping off Endless runners, it was ripping off of a game from 2000.

Action Painting Pro has some really interesting ideas going for it. It first reminds me of the PS1 boot up player's ability to manipulate music cds and graphics through controller input. Having the player and their platforming movement as the brush and to take power ups and turn them into changing overlay styles is pretty genius. It gives the player a choice of how they want to manipulate the art, hence making the end graphic painting that much more personal and meaningful.

Thanks Patrick for yet another wonderful Worth Playing!

This feature is becoming worth flapping. Over half this video was just flappy bird variants, as well as the past two weeks. We are beating a dead bird here over a game that wasn't even that good.

I was gonna ask the same thing. It's right on the tip of my tongue. The one is from some classic game, maybe? And the other is some... indie electronic music? Dang, this is gonna bug me all day.

@mintyice: I remember playing Joust (1982) and DragonHawk (1983) which also featured birds and a flapping mechanism.

Googling, it's a chiptune song but then those have samples, right?

Or is this original music that I've just heard elsewhere recently?

According to the game's credits it's "'You Kill My Brother' from Micro Invasion found at http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Indonesian_Chiptunes/" and since that song is release under Creative Commons by NCSA, it's probably been used in several other indie games as well.

I tried to post that, but for some reason my post didn't appear. Since the song is released under Creative Commons NCSA, it's very likely that it's been used in several other indie games. It does sound quite inspired by several Martin Galway songs though, with hints of classics such as the Comic Bakery theme song for C64.

The entire album with the song on is available at http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Indonesian_Chiptunes/

@patrickklepek Also, what happened to providing links, man? =(

Yeah...it would be nice if he would do that on a more consistent basis. Most of the games are easy enough to find via Google, but it's a nice convenience to just have a list of links.

For some stupid reason I only watch these lately if I have actually played one of the games. Guess I'm just compelled by other people's opinions. But oh god, after seeing Ridiculous Glitching was in this? I had to watch as Patrick descended into madness.

Flappy Bird? Easy, got a nice high score of 175.

Ridiculous Glitching has nearly turned my hair white, given me ulcers, and killed my future children. It is hell, but I've been playing so much of it lately because I CAN'T LET THE GAME WIN!

Way too much of that Flappy Jam stuff. You did a whole episode on it, why keep including more every week when there are so many other intersting Game Jams out there?

I think that's why most sane-thinking people of the community can leave the trust up to the GB staff themselves to be taste-makers, not poll-takers.

I don't think I'll ever understand the appeal of intentional glitching. I particularly hate the kind of audio glitching you hear in modern pop music. The sooner that trend dies the better.
