Also, maybe this is nitpicky, but it bothered me that when Patrick was playing Utopia (I think that's what it was called), he referred to everything in it as animated .gifs. Not all animated 2D images are animated .gifs! Just because you see a looping animated image, especially within a game executable you are running, there's really no particular reason to assume it's a .gif.

Also, that entire Utopia segment seemed unnecessary, since Patrick basically admitted he really didn't have much to say about the game and just wanted to tell us about Twine for a while. Again, sorta self-indulgent.

Strata reminds me heavily of the the likes of Eufloria or Fractal. Pleasant sounding interesting games.

Hey, Patrick, did you not actually get around to playing Depression Quest? It had ingrained music throughout, and I think maybe also .gifs of rainfall or thunder in the upper part of the screen.

Other than maybe Gone Home, it's the most impressive narrative game of the year.

What's the problem with the eShop Picross games? They're the exact same game.

Boson X looks rad. I'm a fan of the face cam (reactions from that dating/disaster game wouldn't have been as effective without it), but that's just me. I am curious what happened to Worth Reading this week, however.

I like the format patrick, but for both this and for the morning podcast, I really wish you wouldn't be so close to your camera, it's waaaaaaaaaay to intense man.

I think the probe game would be more fun if the probes had about twice as much inertia as they currently do, and levels of course adjusted for that.

I like hearing Patrick's thoughts at the end of each game. I don't really have a preference for the face cam; either way seems to work well.

@patrickklepek please bring back the facecam for these videos, its more of that psychological barrier stuff,

id say keep it off during QLs as QLs never had a facecam.

but this series started with a facecam, and it feels empty when you take away the facecam stuff.

Boson X seems like Skyroads meets Hexagon to me.

@patrickklepek: I preferred the original style of editing, tbh. Felt more...friendly, I guess? Idk, it did kind of break up the flow switching between face cam and game.

That "Sonic 2 bonus stage" looking endless runner looks neat.

Keep doing the CAM footage with your videos . It adds a lot of personality to each one . Haters of the CAM footage are the same people who freaked out about solo quick looks. Honestly , fuck them. Keep up with the best work being done

Man, Boson X is like a "Runner" game channeled by Super Hexagon, and that's pretty dang cool.

I might be in the minority but I enjoyed the face cam, it lets us see how you react to the game which can be especially helpful in games where you don't get much of a chance to talk a lot, the example in this episode being the window cleaner game.

This is the Twine game that made me realize there was potential in the medium for more than just a linear lame thing:

Having messed a bit with Twine, you can def. make a game as simple or as complicated as you want. They can get pretty luxurious, which would naturally take a lot of effort. Or put in little effort, get little game.

Speaking on music games, I bet you love Rez. A puzzle game to look into, which Entwine reminded me of: Glow Artisan. A beautiful puzzle game I own, which demands real thought and effort right away.

Also, Picross e, e2, e3 are all on eShop, 18$ total - about the price of Picross DS.

I prefer game 100% and no face interludes. No offense patrick.

I disagree... I think this is a good format. Play the game. Then give your thoughts on it. To say "well we just watched you play so we don't need anything more" doesn't make sense. He's explaining how the game played. We didn't play the game. Boson X looks like a lot of fun... get a Wipeout vibe more-so than anything.

Another format idea: Record footage, comment over it - at least when you're commenting on the games at the end of each section. The pace of the overall video is interrupted when you're just alone, talkin'.

We really don't need the between-segment talks. We just watched you play the game, we know what happened. It just ruins the pacing of the show. But hey, good on you for trying things out!

There's a worth playing, but where's the worth reading this week?

I like this format, with the cut back to his face as he dissects his feelings on each title. The not-cutting-back alternative to this would mean you'd just have his disembodied voice speaking over a menu or Game over screen, and that's probably not that engaging as video content.

Oh, and the advent of lens flare was overdone within five seconds of Photoshop including it as a filter back in the 90s. Man, it was being added to every webpage graphic and piece of digital "art" back then (myself among the culprits).

@yummytreesap: I would say Boson X is a an infinite runner/super hexagon mashup. Very clever!

Boson X is really quite fantastic. I am generally not really that into most endless runners, but that one had enough of a fast paced technical simplicity married with a nice art style and music to keep me pressing the enter button again and again to keep trying.

Strata looks super nice and sounds really relaxing. Might pick it up on iOS, already voted for it on Greenlight as it's something I definitely could see me sitting down with after a rough day at work to just unwind with, headphones on and all.

I think I might have to try out Twine, it sounds interesting.

Also, I think for this feature a summary of your thoughts part at the end of every game is a good thing. As you're not as distracted as you are while playing so you tend to articulate what you think more clearly. However, if you don't necessarily want to incorporate the webcam, you could just leave it at the main game menu as a way of reminding people of the game's name.

Its slower paced than before, which gives me a bit of time to think about what I just saw. Also no face-cam for these things seems to be working (personally). Undivided attention on the games instead of staring at Patrick being all manly and shit.
