Yep, I love watching Patrick play all manner of crazy stuff.

It's a huge shame that we didn't actually get to see Patrick's brain fall apart though.

This was the best Worth Playing ever! These games were fucking awesome.

+1 Great feature Patrick!

Please go back to Naya's Quest, even if you don't play much more of it just go back and look at the shadows when you turn on the scanner. It will all make sense.

Glad to see Freedom Planet getting some exposure, I know some of the people working on it and the game seems great =3

This week in reading subtitles.

I like these.

But please don't use facecam. It makes a legitimate video look like some cheesy attention-whore youtube video.

I like to see the people who are talking. I couldn't give a shit less what it makes the video "look like." That's silly. That's like disliking or liking a game because everyone else dislikes or likes a game. Just do what feels best and who gives a flying fuck what everyone else is doing.

Well, I see you added facecam back. At least you haven't been adding these videos to your wiki page on the site anymore.

A little surprised at an appearance of Iji. That game is super old, but I guess it's new to Patrick so it counts. :-)

Edited by cooljammer00

Anyone else getting a flicker during the videos? Most noticeable during the Sonic like game. It's like the ones from Spooking with Scoops but not nearly as noticeable.

Posted by thainatos

Fuck yeah, IJI!

Posted by YummyTreeSap

Man, Freedom Planet is like Sonic combined with Rocket Knight Adventures and a god-damned fucking motorcycle, and I want it.

Posted by INANTP

Oh man, I remember Iji. That's a great little indie product, even if the graphics are a little one-man-show. Really solid product, shocking depth in the level design.

Posted by ectoplasma

Iji has some fantastic sound design. Everything has a real punch to it.

Posted by thaquoth

Patrick completely not getting it in Naya kinda killed me. But that's easy to say given that I'm just watching. :D

Posted by thaquoth

Also I am completely in love with the ambient soundscapes in that game. You can always get me with these kinds of moods. It's also what initially made me fall in love with Knytt Stories.

Posted by chrisbob

I need to go back and finish Iji. For what it's worth, the story is actually really interesting and you can Deus Ex your way through it, killing as few enemies as possible. Nothing like leveling your kick all the way up and kicking dudes across a room and through a window.

These are getting really good. Keep it up!

That first game looks awesome!

Have to admit, Patrick's Spookin, Worth Playing and Reading are becoming my favourite features on this site.

Naya's Quest is a phenomenal game. I played it after watching the video. Once you grasp the concept of the game, it introduces you to so many cool variations that make you go "Ohhh" and "Ahhh". :) And in the end the game totally flips the rules in a lot of satisfying ways. This could have easily been a cool little 3 hour game on Steam for 5$, but it's condensed and lovely and free. Totally worth playing.

Were are the Libertarian Ninjas at?

Posted by MikeLemmer

Agreed. Worth Playing alone is probably the highest density of value on the site.

Proletarian Ninja X seems really neat.

Naya's Quest is some real MC Escher stuff.

Oh nice, I remember Iji! Didn't like the progression in it though, you really had to commit to a few skills early on to actually get somewhere, but it was fun and had a good style. Plus the story goes some cool places iirc... and the kick is VERY satisfying.

That second game, it seems Yuji Naka's taking a page from Inafune's playbook :P

You've been incredibly productive with original content since you left the other guys! I like it! Keep up the good work!

The ninja games looks a whole lot like Monaco. I'm guessing the same people made it.

What are the rules of the competition? It doesn't seem that they really need to be made entirely from scratch.

Posted by Overbite

Hey Scoops you probably wont read this but in Iji if you don't attack any of the enemies for the first couple stages the story changes and they stop attacking you. It's a really cool game and I'm glad you checked it out!

Posted by Jeabusier

Please stop reading the text out loud.

Edited by Kushieda

Oh man, I played Ijji YEARS ago. It was a great 2d game.

Edited by Draxyle

Nothing quite as painful as seeing a (somewhat) knockoff game manage to be nearly superior to what it's knocking off. Seems like a waste of talent to not do more to differentiate your product.

"Long-time video-game players are guilty of innumerable virtual crimes, from minor indiscretions like jaywalking, in Atari’s Frogger, and smoking indoors..." Last I checked that wasn't a crime.

Yeah, I feel like as much as Pat understood he was supposed to use the scanner, he only occasionally understood what it was telling him. I got the sense that he never really appreciated that the shadows projected on the bottom give you an accurate sense of where things are, and instead he kind of just subconsciously figured it out (sometimes), and the rest of the time he just guessed (wrong) and fell into a pit.

Freedom Planet seems to do Sonic better than Sonic has done Sonic in several... seasons. :D

I am quite intrigued by the idea of an entire game that goes on while you are dancing the tango with lovely lady dancing partner.

Keep scoopin' up play-worthy games, Scoops!

I was totally blown away by Naya's Quest. If you like puzzle games I would highly recommend trying it out, it is definitely worth the time. The game starts off simple and explains the basic concepts of the game then thrusts you into thinking your way through some very unique and well thought out puzzles.

Terry Cavanagh has been putting out some great games recently, keep your eyes out for whatever he releases next!
