WWE '13 Brings Exploding Rings, Louder Crowds, and Good Ol' JR

Wrestling!

The Attitude Era stuff is really my main reason for being excited about this game. I haven't bought a wrestling game in probably five years, but I'll definitely be picking this one up.

So they didn't have all these things until now?

That's just sad.

This will probably be the first wrestling game I've bought in almost ten years.

Here's to hoping they've improved a lot... though I'm not all that hopeful it has. Making the crowd seem more dynamic looks like a great thing, though the commentary still seems bad.

But hey, JR! BAH GAWD IT'S JR!

Edit: Just laughed so hard at the "Oh my god" chant at the end. I understand you can't have them chant "Holy shit", but come on, find something a little better than that!

@Rabid619: You'd think "HOLY CRAP!" would be the easy substitute there.

I must say that I know this game will be eerily similar to last years game because they all are. However, the new gameplay features they are adding do seem really cool. I love the idea of being able to counter into your finisher from the top and the spectacular moments and dynamic crowd should add as much realism as is possible from a WWE game.

I wonder how far they are going with this Attitude Era thing they were talking about. I wonder how many superstars from that time period they will put in the game. If guys like the New Age Outlaws, Val Venis, Godfather, X-Pac, etc. will be there or if it will just be a few guys like the ones we saw in the video Makind, Stone Cold, and Old School Taker.

That 'Oh My God!' chant sounds so weird in place of the usual 'Holy Shit!' one but they are not exactly going to put that one in the game, obviously.

Says quite a bit about modern wrestling when they put an Attitude Era story mode and scrap all the current stuff.

We need cross-overs, WWE All-Stars style. Dolph Ziggler vs Billy Gunn, anyone?

Any wrestling game that isn't AKI is dead to me.

@Alex: That'd be a bit better, but man, anything but yelling "Holy shit" will just feel... wrong. I guess that's where the issue of the WWE having a PG rating comes into play now, though.

At least it's not "Holy poop".

Remember when they used to sell kids on how fun a game was, instead how much more polished their predator engine has become since the previous iteration? Bring back Zelda raps.

But can I explode the ring while JR is in it?

I think when one of the big improvements to a game is louder crowds, it's time for a new developer to have a go.

@JoshyLee: Yeah, that engine they use needs reworked from the ground up and we need to see a new approach or something. The sad thing is, there is room for a great wrestling game but Yukes isn't cutting it anymore and they haven't for a few years now.

I've got a great idea! Instead of releasing this game that's changed absolutely nothing in the last 5 years or so, how about they...don't?

Wow, looks a lot better than 12. Mark Henry doesn't look out of scale, and they're actually doing entrance attires this time. Commentary seems better too.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but maybe they got the UFC 3 team to help them since those guys don't have anything to do now?

The only thing JR is good for in wrestling games, is running him over with a car. One of the most common complaints (albeit less vital than, say, the fact that they play like ass) about WWE games is the commentary, and considering how many of them JR is in, he is largely to blame for that. JR being part of WWE '13 is not really a good thing.

@Wikitoups: If it is missing YES! chants or CM Punk yelling "It's clobbering time", imma be pissed.

Oh man the best part was them changing the "HOLY SHIT" chants to "OH MY GOD". This does look better than last year but still having trouble getting excited at all.

The animations look a lot smoother than '12, though the commentary seems a little wooden still. That being said, OH BAH GAWD!

Why ever offer 2 commentary teams, anyone who like wrestling will only pick Good Old JR.

@Tredik: Me too man me too, All Stars was the first wrestling game I bought in about 6 years.

It won't be a proper Attitude era or 'sound' experience without the whole "Oh You Didn't Know?!" Road Dogg entrance with additional 'Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls" speech complete with crowd sing along.

If Ryback is in the game I wonder if Goldberg chants will be in the game

Kinda wish the holy shit chant was in and not "oh my god" but other then that this is easily my most anticipated game of 2012, been a fan of wrestling for over 20 years and unlike some i absolutely loved WWE 12, looks like all the problems i had with '12 is being fixed in '13.

Also bring back full on GM mode :(
