They have been annualized for about 10 years now.

This however looks like it's putting the most innovation since HCTP which is AWESOME.

TOO MANY LIMES, TOO MANY LIMES.

Posted by InfiniteGeass

The last good and fun Smackdown game was Here Comes the Pain for the PS2. They try to make them too realistic now and wrestling isn't realistic at all.

I miss The Rock and Stone Cold :(

Why can't AKI make another wrestling game? All the SvR games just feel too floaty to me, the moves don't have any impact.

After the N64 WWF Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy, I haven't enjoyed a single wrestling game made

Can I run JR over in a car that's driven by JR?

FELLA

Sheamus is so good, and fits into the main event scene perfectly.  His Lesnar-like push has gone over wonderfully...though I certainly hope he sticks around longer than Lesnar did.  Pretty mind-boggling to see him in this game (and on the European box art) when slightly over a year ago none of us knew he existed.

----actual sidenote about the game---
SvR has been bland and boring since the 06 edition.  Yes, this has all sorts of new features, but it's all very minimal fluff.  Which is nice, but if you don't have the fighting engine to accompany it it means nothing.  Most all the animations look absolutely measly, not impactful at all.  FirePro is pretty much the only alternative, and that's still a barely-released SNES game with no license.  Unless Yuke's takes the time to redo their engine, none of this will have meaning.  I want a hard-hitting wrestling game, one where the characters don't constantly clip and have unrealistic, mind-boggling SSPs like the one Evan Bourne does off the ladder in that video.  It isn't brutal, it isn't cool, it just makes no sense, and is cartoony to a point where WWE All-Stars doesn't seem needed.  Wrestling is staged, yeah, but when someone gets suplexed they still hit the mat real hard.  Here, it's just a string of half-assed "moves" with no logic or meaning.

Couldn't care less about the game itself... but, wow. It's still kinda weird that the guy in the preview image is the same guy I made a promo video for like 3-4 year ago on a independent TV channel here in the UK... now he's starring in video games :). Crazy.

I would love a "smart" mode, where it's up to you and the AI player to make a good match.  You would have counters, high-spots, and signature moves but they wouldn't affect your "HP" (though there could be a stamina metre which would be recovered with restholds, that could null the excitement of a match) and it'd be up to you to entertain the crowd, rather than beat the guy.

I think...I think I might pass up on it this year THQ...thanks all the same though.

live on pay-per-view.

I like wrestling and I like the SvR games. I'm getting this. Possibly day one.

I just hope I can pull a Shooting StaRKO.

Miz sounds like a zombie from Deadly Premonition.

Wasn't the first SvR in like 2004-2005?

If you now have 12 different ways to put poop through a table, you're still playing with poop.

It had nothing to do with tables...at all.

They consider the very first Smackdown the start of the series.  So all the way through Here Comes the Pain I think.
I will be pissed if Shawn Michaels is not in this one.

Yeah, but weren't HCTP/SYM/JBI not one year after the other?
Edited by Raven_Sword

so, if I turn my brightness way down, will Sheamus look tan or if I turn it up will he just become so white that he dissapears?
Posted by WinterSnowblind

I consider these games my guilty pleasure..

I haven't actualy watched any wrestling for about 10 years, but it's still a lot of fun to play through these games with a friend, making all of our own wrestlers that we used to create back in the very first Smackdown game.

After a string of very disappointing games, I told myself I wouldn't be getting this one.  But the new WWE Universe features sounds a lot like GM mode and is exactly what I've been waiting for them to add.  No doubt they'll still find a way to ruin it though.

Another HD PS2 game from WWE

Posted by MrGarcia

Nah!

Posted by Pseudonym

Will there ever be a better wrestling game than No Mercy?

Seriously, SvR has came close in the past but nowadays it's stale and boring.

Posted by MrMuscle

I might get it to go thru some story mode. But the wrestling game im really looking forward to is WWE All-Stars. Looks more arcadey (is that a word?) and action packed, although very over the top.
Posted by Apatheory

Cena sucks.

Miz is awesome.

Posted by DaveMagic

What's up with the glossy finish for all of the characters? They all look way too shiny. Kinda like Orton when he was with Legacy. LOL.

Posted by JerichoBlyth

This year's edition looks like it might be quite good actually :- ) over 70 wrestlers....half of which are probably future endevoured or dead by now because the roster was finalised in April. Which of course means no NXT/Nexus.

Posted by Maxtone

It looks good so far and the features seem great definitely gonna get this when it comes out.
Posted by Schizoid

THIS. IS. MY. MOMENT.

On a side note, Sheamus looks like an absolute idiot and the last guy you'd ever expect to be a wrestler.

Edited by MeatSim

You have waited your entire life for the WWE game that's made every year.

Posted by JakeTaylor

I CAN LIVE IT?

I don't know if I'm ready.

Edited by Haze

My cousin knows  "Sheamus" from his IWW training days. Seemingly he is a nice guy and his hair isn't really that shade of red. I haven't watched Wrestling since the attitude era so I am quite shocked to hear that this is the game everyone has been waiting for rather than 12 that have come out yearly since then.

Posted by MarkBGH
@mrbasehart: There was a mode in the Fire Pro wrestling games that did exactly that. They had different specifications for high flying matches, hardcore matches, etc. too. Very interesting and pretty fun, but I imagine it's not mainstream-friendly enough for the devs of this game to spend any time on.
Edited by MjHealy

Oh rastlin'. I love you yet and dislike you. Especially since this trailer proves that 2011 will be the worst SmackDown! game in a number of years.

Posted by Duckbutter

i saw no hint of the Nexus. that makes my eyebrows frown and my eyeballs sweat :(

who gives a shit anyway. these wrastlin games are lame. what i dont understand is why these same developers that make UFC dont make the WWE games with the better UFC engine.
