Xbox One? Man, I Saw That

I'm concerned about how long the slowdown lasts when the enemies flash different colours. It depends on how it feels when playing but just watching the video made it look like it lasted longer than would be required for a fluid style of combat. I can see why it has taken some criticism for being a QTE game.

Dead Rising 3 is basically about an Xbox fan going around eradicating hordes of mindless Sony Drones controlled and sent by the hive-mind at SonyGAF.

Rise looks slick and that Kinect lean business?.. why they never mentioned it before! Can't wait for the next Batman or Mass Effect with those visuals!

It's good to see Crimson Dragon is a game on Xbone with some color. Ryse, DR3, and BF4 are too bland with their color palette.

I'm not acting like that at all! I love the Mario games and I think Super Mario 3D World is gonna be fantastic! But what I'm saying is that there are new consoles out, and you'd think that as much as I love Super Mario, there would be something among these new next-gen games that I think would be as good as Mario, but I just don't see that happening.

Taking out the clock in Dead Rising makes a lot of sense to me. I also loved the old games, but the clock makes so much of the game not fun - killing zombies and most items/crafting is inefficient. To beat the game and save survivors you have to just find/build the best stuff, avoid zombies where possible, and carry around a lot of orange juice. Unless you explicitly ignored the story, you couldn't play around with the awesome world and tools.

My main concern is that DR3 just looks dark and grimy. A different atmosphere from the old games.

We should bust capz up in xbots asses. You gotta be cray to not want a play(PS4). I'd be a public service, putting them out of their misery.

This all looks pretty blurry. Clearly Giantbomb's video pipeline wasn't made for the coming generation and is starting to look subpar.

I'll renew my yearly subscription when I get 4k or at least 1080p video on here. Some Twitch streamers started streaming and uploading to Youtube in 4k and it looks fantastic.

Wish there had been more footage of Crimson Dragon, but fuck it I'm buying it anyway so it doesn't matter.

I can't see how anyone compares that combat to Batman. The game is much more like God of War or such than it is like Batman.

I think its mainly just the combat system that they compare to the Batman games as it seems to be very counter focused. Although I can't really see any comparisons to God of War like you said.

Ryse and DR3 look like pretty good fun! Ain't got much else to say besides that.

Out of all those videos I enjoyed watching Ryse the most. I think it looks great. The executions look pretty damn brutal.

I can see what you're saying. What I meant by like God of War is that it'll be very guided like that, not somewhat open like Batman.

Combat-wise, I think it's probably more like AC2 then God of War or Batman. Again, very counter-focused, but more step-by-step than flowing.

Love that dinosaur hanging in the car in the BF4 footage. The kinect stuff is damn cool though. I know it's just leaning, but still cool. What I really want to see more of is multiplayer BF4 on these consoles. I need to find out how big the player limit is in a match. 12 on 12 isn't doing it anymore.

Looks very good. Solid launch titles overall, nothing that will set the world on fire, but I think they'll be competent and enjoyable.

It snaps to someone when you hit the stick towards them + attack, and it has a super simple counter system. In his mind that's batman-like.

This video has been more convincing than anything MS has put out on the console themselves. I have never seen a system be promoted so terribly.

The Xbox One actually has a fairly solid lineup as far as launches go. Still leaning towards PS4 since that's where all the international titles will inevitably land, but there's no shame in buying the Xbox at launch.

Ahh to be so to play so many video games on so many consoles in one life. I take what they say with a grain a salt because of that reason as they crustily sit on set with their smoking jackets and jaded views on a console not delivering the type of games they like to play or wowing them with something because they been watered down with thousands of titles in their pedigree. They are entitled to their opinions like everyone else even if they are playing the back 9 of the golf course.

I support all consoles because I love video games and glad their is competition to keep companies working for the consumer. I do plan to buy and play games on both ps4 and xbox one but I can't help notice the comment if it's a multi-platform game of course I will play on ps4. I can't help but think while PS choose to spend time mocking xbox with videos about game sharing and brush over cloud support saying we have plans to out source cloud service and will have more on that soon. The business model to have companies rent dedicated servers or for cloud computing is a huge advancement in next gen and Microsoft has that built out already. Microsoft isn't without their issues but it just seems like nothing they saw was worthy of their time but it more related to their over saturation of games and because their aren't more games like dive kick.

Those were sequels, so not as high as expectations as for an original IP.

Man, most of these games look pretty good. Although the Dragon game looks pretty but stale and boring.

Also, is it just me or is anyone else getting a Shadow of Rome vibe from Ryse, I loved the shit out of that game!

Hey @drewbert, Borderlands had a pretty good approximation of an elephant gun.

It sounds like I played similar demos to what the guys played but instead of Battlefield 4 I played Killer Instinct. I was at the giant Xbox One in downtown Vancouver and the demo station space inside was kind of trailer sized, they were running demo stations along both walls so there wasn't any space for them to setup the Kinect stuff.

Dead Rising 3 felt like a Dead Rising game meaning the weapons are fun and over the top, and aiming the guns manually felt better than I remembered from Dead Rising 2. In case your curious, without a Kinect to detect the controller shake the game was requesting I tap the face buttons to escape zombies.

Ryse is better than I was expecting, the game is more responsive and has less animation priority than it appears, meaning that you can roll or block almost instantly like a God of War game. Not really sure there is enough depth to the combat to stay interesting for a whole game though.

Killer Instinct seems like a solid fighting game, it is responsive and seems to have a decent amount of depth but in the one match I played against one of the Xbox girls she thoroughly kicked my ass. Killer Instinct seems like a decent replacement for the Dead or Alive games of the first two Xbox launches.

Forza 5 seems solid. I tried both the McLaren P1 (the car in all the advertising) and the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe, both controlled distinctly despite the demo running with all the assists on. The Impulse Trigger effects were the real standout for me you can kind of feel the traction and the texture of the road, it is super cool.

I walked away from my experience thinking that I will buy Forza 5 and Dead Rising 3 as my launch games. I will at least play the free version of Killer Instinct if not buy all the characters. I think Ryse has potential and I don't think it will be terrible but I won't be grabbing it at launch, maybe in the doldrums of January if the reviews are decent. Also the Xbox One controller without the battery pack is ridiculously light, it feels lighter than a 360 controller without battery.
