MOCAP DOG IS FUCKING PSYCHED!

Edited by BolognaSoup

Ryan really should get serious about his health. You shouldn't just sweat like he does for nothing. He seems to be on the fast track for a MI.

Good old IntelliMouse...

good tip on using the twitch video for the 2nd half instead of the out of sync version here http://www.twitch.tv/giantbomb/b/406436781

RRoD stuff comes from microsoft pressure, even going against ati's own recommendations (probably also had to do with the BGA metal/material), rarely can you blame the engineers

Posted by hellforce

Can someone tell me when the mocap dog bit starts? I really don't want to watch a 3-hour video about Dominos integration and live Twitter-syncing or whatever just to see the one interesting part.

Oh look I can be angry all over again!

But honestly, the thing that bothers me the most is Steam's very existence. I miss having games as separate executables. I don't need some stupid hub for all my games. I already had that. It was called the Start menu. Or I can just make shortcuts or a folder or something. Regardless, I don't want to launch a program just to launch the program I actually want. My PC isn't very powerful (for example, it runs TF2 just fine, but I had frame rate issues playing Hotline: Miami) so it's really annoying to have to have another program running in the background, taking up my limited system resources.

Are you really dumb enough to think Steam is having any impact whatsoever on your gaming performance?

Sorry but the 90mb or so that Steam uses (according to my task manager, Steam is only using 10mb which seems absurdly low) isn't going to be causing any FPS issues regardless of system specifications, and if you're in a situation where worrying about a minuscule amount of RAM like that is a problem, you should go out and buy some more RAM. It's not like it is expensive. It hasn't been for years now.

People like Steam because Valve are brilliant overall and rather reliable, EA are neither. Microsoft aren't exactly very good too, the disaster that was (is) Games for Windows Live proves that. (that service went down for a week recently, and nobody could play SFIV online and a few others)

It really depends on when you look, actually. I'll defend Steam up and down, but I've definitely caught it using 300-500mb depending on the circumstances. Never mind the fact that Steam usually outright locks up whenever I get a gift pop-up.

Steam's overall stability in the last year or two has gone right down the tubes in a big, big way.

I'm really disappointed in Jeff's choice of headphones.

The only major thing I took away from all of this is that Jeff wears Beats by Dre, and that he should know better than that.

Why does it matter. They're headphones.

'Tis a joke.

The moment when @vinny mistakes live-action footage for CGI and declares that he's getting an "uncanny valley" vibe from honest-to-God human beings... just delicious.

Posted by Waffley

Can't you people see? This is all foreshadowing humanity's dark future. A future where your Xbox is also your dog. And it lays DRM puppies. And Pizza Hut gets beamed straight to your colon through the magic of Kinect.

DARK TIMES ARE COMING.

Wow.... can't wait to...... fantasy sports? TV trending? Halo Show? Sports games and umm live sports? Another rah-rah america cod game? Microsoft just failed to sell this burning man water.

For what it's worth, for the lighting to look "normal" on camera, they have to be under significant amount of studio spotlights in their little couch set. I'm guessing it gets pretty hot under those lights, especially after they've been sitting there for an hour or two. Let's say that area is probably somewhere between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius as a result.

So sure, I weigh 150 pounds and wouldn't sweat just sitting around in that temperature (similar to Patrick's build), but if you're as big as Ryan or Jeff then it's not that surprising. His weight is definitely a concern, but I don't think he just sits around, sweating all day long. The TNT/livestream set is hot.

I haven't played a Call of Duty game since COD4MW, but I think I'll get Ghosts. I'm not going to lie, dog mo-cap kind off sold me on it.

This conference was total bullshit and I hate myself for watching it. At least I got to enjoy it with the GB crew. Hopefully the electronic three will have some crazy, mind-blowing games.

It's still cheap.

So underwhelming. I live in Australia so all that tv stuff is irrelevant for me anyway, the only game that looked remotely interesting was quantum break (most likely will also come to pc). All the game footage they actually showed looked far less impressive to me than sony's reveal. No discussion of xbox live subscription either, really not looking to pay just to play online. A lot more of the features sony discussed were relevant/interesting to me and if the 3gb the os takes up in usage is true then that is the final nail in the coffin, quick swapping between games and a heap of apps etc I have no interest in is not worth the trade off. I already have an all in one entertainment hub, its called a pc. Sorry but I don't think many of these new promises from new connect will come to fruition in a satisfying way either. I think that I'll double down on the pc and pick myself up a ps4.

J Allard right at the top is probably Giant Bomb moment of the year.

Still have to laugh at people basing their purchase on one hype event from each company. The internet does indeed make you stupid. Right now I'm not impressed with either offering, but I'm not "leaning towards" not buying anything. See how things look in 3 months, then maybe you'll be able to make an informed decision.

Shhh! Right now some sinister organization is probably coming to get you for using logic on the interwebs.

I haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but since they announced the partnership with NFL right away, does that mean that they will release the system before the start of the next NFL season? The NFL season starts on September 5th. Does that mean a release date and pricing at E3?

On a IT nerd level it's funny if the hypervisor is based on Hyper-V, because I work with Hyper-V at my job and it sucks so bad. VMWare ESX devours it in every way possible.

But it is a neat idea though. How do you guarantee that performance for games when multitasking with other apps? Use VMs. It's a good idea. And they said that the apps are running on Windows 8 too, so I would imagine the port of apps from Metro Windows 8 to Xbox Windows 8 would be very little or close to none.

I still don't get a good feeling that they're working on good features for me as a gamer though. The PS4 reveal hit me with a lot more features that made me think 'oooh, yeah, that would be really nice to have'

The featureset they sold me on here are more like if you're forced to have only one box under your TV, take this one because it does a lot of generally neat stuff in switching between them. Their competition is apple tv, boxee box and roku. We've known it's been MS' ambition with Xbox from the beginning. It's difficult not to feel like gaming might still be losing out in this.

Edited by Voysa_Reezun

I have both an Xbox and a 360, but at this point, I will have to go elsewhere this upcoming generation because I do not want to get a console that inhibits my ability to lend, trade, or buy games that are used. That's an immediate deal-breaker.

Honestly, I wish Nintendo would get its stuff together because, as someone who prefers offline gaming at this point in my life, the most important things to me are the available games for the console that I choose and whether or not I can buy, trade, or give games to my relatives and friends (or sell them and buy them at a used game store). A Nintendo console with new Fallout, Saints Row, and GTA PLUS new Starfox and Kirby that does not restrict my use of pre-owned games would get all my money all the time.

re: the discussion about Video Kinect at ~ 1:50, you used to be able to use Kinect to video chat with anyone who had MS Messenger on their PC. Now that everyone was upgraded to Skype on the PC side, this is no longer possible.

Don't you hate it when you have to press a button on your remote to list your inputs, for then to choose TV/games? No more! You can now use your voice, a growly one at that, since you drank heavily last night, to do the same thing! It won't recognize you, but hey, it's so fun todo that it doesn't matter! What do you mean you're not interested?! It's the future!
