It really depends on when you look, actually. I'll defend Steam up and down, but I've definitely caught it using 300-500mb depending on the circumstances. Never mind the fact that Steam usually outright locks up whenever I get a gift pop-up.

Steam's overall stability in the last year or two has gone right down the tubes in a big, big way.

I haven't played a Call of Duty game since COD4MW, but I think I'll get Ghosts. I'm not going to lie, dog mo-cap kind off sold me on it.

This conference was total bullshit and I hate myself for watching it. At least I got to enjoy it with the GB crew. Hopefully the electronic three will have some crazy, mind-blowing games.

So underwhelming. I live in Australia so all that tv stuff is irrelevant for me anyway, the only game that looked remotely interesting was quantum break (most likely will also come to pc). All the game footage they actually showed looked far less impressive to me than sony's reveal. No discussion of xbox live subscription either, really not looking to pay just to play online. A lot more of the features sony discussed were relevant/interesting to me and if the 3gb the os takes up in usage is true then that is the final nail in the coffin, quick swapping between games and a heap of apps etc I have no interest in is not worth the trade off. I already have an all in one entertainment hub, its called a pc. Sorry but I don't think many of these new promises from new connect will come to fruition in a satisfying way either. I think that I'll double down on the pc and pick myself up a ps4.

To make the debate over RAM prices a little simpler, I'm not going to buy more RAM.

I haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but since they announced the partnership with NFL right away, does that mean that they will release the system before the start of the next NFL season? The NFL season starts on September 5th. Does that mean a release date and pricing at E3?

On a IT nerd level it's funny if the hypervisor is based on Hyper-V, because I work with Hyper-V at my job and it sucks so bad. VMWare ESX devours it in every way possible.

But it is a neat idea though. How do you guarantee that performance for games when multitasking with other apps? Use VMs. It's a good idea. And they said that the apps are running on Windows 8 too, so I would imagine the port of apps from Metro Windows 8 to Xbox Windows 8 would be very little or close to none.

I still don't get a good feeling that they're working on good features for me as a gamer though. The PS4 reveal hit me with a lot more features that made me think 'oooh, yeah, that would be really nice to have'

The featureset they sold me on here are more like if you're forced to have only one box under your TV, take this one because it does a lot of generally neat stuff in switching between them. Their competition is apple tv, boxee box and roku. We've known it's been MS' ambition with Xbox from the beginning. It's difficult not to feel like gaming might still be losing out in this.

I have both an Xbox and a 360, but at this point, I will have to go elsewhere this upcoming generation because I do not want to get a console that inhibits my ability to lend, trade, or buy games that are used. That's an immediate deal-breaker.

Honestly, I wish Nintendo would get its stuff together because, as someone who prefers offline gaming at this point in my life, the most important things to me are the available games for the console that I choose and whether or not I can buy, trade, or give games to my relatives and friends (or sell them and buy them at a used game store). A Nintendo console with new Fallout, Saints Row, and GTA PLUS new Starfox and Kirby that does not restrict my use of pre-owned games would get all my money all the time.

re: the discussion about Video Kinect at ~ 1:50, you used to be able to use Kinect to video chat with anyone who had MS Messenger on their PC. Now that everyone was upgraded to Skype on the PC side, this is no longer possible.
