Yeah I'll take a sequel to the 2012 GOTY.

Couldn't care less...the first one was overrated to all hell. Too be fair, most Indie games are nowadays (except Bastion.)

Edited by TwoLines

I'll take more of Hotline Miami, sure.

gahahahahaaa yes!

"Hotline Miami is a fantastic game, the violence is brutal and we love it." - Giant Bomb, Q3 2012.

I don't know how I feel about the fact that I am on board with this.

In before...

I'm very curious to how they iterate upon the first.

God fucking damn, I thought they couldn't top Sun Araw and then I heard my favourite song by Tape playing when click play. Can't wait. Amazing. Mind blown at Tape playing.

Just finished the first one this morning. Already want more now please.

Never played the first and no desire to, but goddamn, that soundtrack was SOMETHING ELSE. I just want more HM music, baby.

@cornbredx: Well, that guy is a user that just came in around the week of E3 and I dunno if this is just me being an old man giant bomber, but most of the newer people that have come here seem to be....
horrible for a lack of a better term kinda like the typical person that comments on larger sites and on Youtube vids.

Curious where they go with the story.

That has piqued my interest for this game like 1000%. I love Hotline Miami.

The story stuff was a bit wonky depending on what you did with the collectibles so I'm curious what this has to say about it in terms of canon.

I am incredibly excited for this.

Previews on the other sites seem to imply that the story contains even more weird meta commentary this time around.

To be fair, Bastion was also pretty overrated. This is the case with most indie games that mostly got attention because they were on consoles, like Braid and Fez.

You think that someone is horrible just because you disagree with their opinion? Sounds like the definition of a youtube comment.

That's kinda funny, as I think Bastion is the most overyhyped of all. Also, Hotline Miami rules.

Posted by dvorak

I'm sure the game will be great, but they better really go for it on the soundtrack choices.

Beat the first in one sitting. It was a great sitting!

Hotline Miami was the most stylish and unique games I've ever played and I loved every brutal second of it. I'm excited to see what they do with the second one.

Also I don't think you can say that Bastion or Hotline Miami were over-hyped since the overall consensus of critics and players was that they were both very well liked and they were vocal about it.

Its totally valid not liking them due to personal taste, but I don't think they were over-hyped.

Cool, I finished the first one two days ago, it's pretty fucking good, I was pretty skeptical when people said it had the best music, then I played it and realized it was right, but I feel like the music is better while playing the game than listening to it outside the game.

I liked to play a level a couple of times and then doing it more and more efficiently like a speed run but I felt some of the later levels are impossible to do like a speed run because they have a random factor.

I'm pretty excited about this next one.

Hey, look at that! Now the super fresh and original indies are cranking out sequels! Fez 2! Hotline Miami 2!

@gaspower: I havent really noticed an influx of anyone different thn who normally comes around. Video game websites always tend to get all types. Maybe there is seasons for it, I dont know. Haven't noticed.

@headphonehalo: No, he's just bad at expressing his opinions in a respectful manner. I think this is what the guy who you were actually responding to (who wasnt me but rather @GaspoweR) means.

There are respectful ways to say you don't like something. It's not necessary to belittle them or use big words incorrectly to intend to say that something someone else likes is not actually meaningful because they, themself, don't like it.

Sorry for the bold. The site is doing it, not me- it also isn't letting me edit some of my text

But the opinion was expressed in a respectful manner. The person expressing it didn't belittle anyone, nor did they use any big words incorrectly. Or any big words period.

It just happens to be an opinion that a lot of people will probably disagree with, and gamers are typically incapable of accepting differing opinions.

@headphonehalo: I disagree, but it's all water under the bridge.

Just out of curiousity, could you tell me what part of it was disrespectful, and towards whom? Because I really don't see it.

Well, that was me that made the comment about YouTube commenters by the way and I admit that using the term "horrible" was probably way too much and it of itself did sound like a YouTube comment after the fact. :)

The other user saying that most indie games in general except for one indie game (Bastion) to be "overrated" does come off as being very dismissive and disrespectful considering that there are people who do like indie games like Hotline Miami a lot. Sure it is his opinion but like when I said that people saying comments like that are "horrible" it does have a tendency to come off as disrespectful and in turn would incite a negative reaction to a comment like that when they tell you that the games you like are "overrated". That's pretty much it.

Did anyone get all the masks in the first game? Is it worth it for me to get all of them?

I hope the level design in the second one continues to impress!!!!
